2 Semifinal - 2 Reebok Cup Date: Venue: Palam - A Tata Group Vs. Fidelity Information Systems Shrray Sharma leading the side for first time in the absence of Jitender Diwan called correctly and chose to field first. Pawan started by bowling a maiden over but Jitender & Dhiraj shared 45 runs for the opening wkt partnership from 8.4 overs. Pawan provided the break through while Deepak Yadav demolished the top order by taking 4 wkts reducing FIS to 95 for 5 wkts. Sonu Vaid, Arun & Aman bowled out FIS on the score of 127 runs. Tata Group lost both openers cheaply and their 3 rd wkt fell on the score of 27 runs. Sachin Mehta & Sonu Vaid not only rescued their team with 70 runs partnership but brought their team in the winning position. Tata Group required 13 runs from 18 deliveries when Deepak made 7 runs off 3 deliveries. 4 th delivery found Sachin in front of the stumps while Deepak was bowled on 5 th ball and when Pankaj Mohanty took a brilliant catch at mid-wicket on the last delivery to complete the first HAT-TRICK of this tournament. In the last over, 2 runs were required but Anuj bowled a wide ball to level the scores after bowling a maiden ball. Steria Reliance opted to field first on winning the toss but Akhil & Babbal shared 30 runs partnership for opening wkt against disciplined attack of Reliance. Bowlers of Reliance bowled good line and length allowing no room for the batsmen to free their arms as such restricted Steria to 124 runs only. Chasing at the asking rate of 5 runs per over was further made easy when openers made 46 runs from 5.3overs. Colt Technologies Asked to bat first, HP got off to a flying start as Pandita & Sanjeev added 52 runs from 7 overs. Runs kept on coming as Pandita stood like a rock at one end while Vivek Dwivedi shared 38 runs partnership with him. On the score of 119, Bharat joined Pandita and they shared 63 runs partnership from 34 deliveries to post a mammoth total of 186 runs on the board. Rajeev bowled a good spell to take 2 wkts conceding just 18 runs while Pandita remained undefeated on the score of 62 runs. Pressure of chasing a huge total played havoc on Colt Technologies as they lost Suresh on the 2 nd ball and kept on losing wkts every now and then in order to match the asking rate. Amit & Naveen consolidated their position with 26 runs partnership for 2 nd wkt while Naveen & Neeraj added 42 runs from 4.3 overs to further strengthen their hold on the match. Mohit & Raj Pareek shared 39 runs partnership before Murthy dismissed Mohit and soon Airtel was struggling at 51 runs for 5 wkts. Aditya & Manan shared 21 runs while Aditya & Sandeep added 37 runs for 6 th & 7 th wkt partnership respectively. Vikas then removed the tail to take 3 wkts and bowl out Airtel on the score of 119 runs with 4 deliveries yet to be bowled. A total of 19 runs came from first over wherein 14 extras were conceded to bring the asking rate to 4 runs per over. Nokia Siemens Network Reliance started off well by making 35 runs for opening wkt partnership when they chose to bat first of winning the toss. Sultan & Mohan added 40 runs for the 2 nd wkt partnership and later Sultan & Rahul put on 59 runs from 5.4 overs to take control of the match. It looked that Reliance will put up a total of around 190 runs but towards the end of inning, NSN bowlers bowled well to restrict Reliance on the score of 174 runs only. Ranjit was scoring runs from one end while Murthy was not able to rotate the strike and the same happened with Vikas as well. On the score of 47 runs, Ashwani joined Ranjit & they added 52 runs for the 3 rd wkt partnership but once this partnership was broken, NSN fell like a pack of cards and could score only 130 runs from 25 overs giving Reliance a convincing victory. ICICI Bank Amit provided an early break through when ICICI Bank chose to field first on winning the toss but Pandita & Vikas shared 46 runs partnership from 9 overs to stabilize inning. Rakesh came in and played a breeze knock of 36 runs to swing the momentum while Pandita was keeping other end in tact. Towards the end of inning Bharat used long handle to good effect scoring 24 runs off 11 deliveries to help his side post a total of 169 runs. For ICICI Bank, Akshay bowled well in the slog overs to take 3 wkts. ICICI Bank did not get the required start to chase the target as Saurabh Singhal bowled extremely good line giving no room to batsmen to free their arms. Ishan & Raghav added 89 runs for the 3 rd wkt partnership from 8 overs to consolidate their position. Apart from Naveen who made 24 runs, rest of the batsmen could not score runs but still KPMG managed to put 201 runs on the board. To chase anything over 200 runs, one batsman had to play a big inning but highest contribution came from Dinkar who made undefeated 35 runs. 10 Pre-quarter Final 2 Date: Venue: Jesus & Merry College Colwell & Salmon Vs. HUDCO Colwell & Salmon lost 2 wkts in the 2 nd over when they chose to bat first. Prashant & Jason added 42 runs for the 3 rd wkt but once again Colwell was struggling at 54 for 4 wkts after 8 overs. Prashant & Ashwani not only came to the rescue of Colwell but took their team to a position of strength when they shared a partnership of 121 runs from 12.5 overs. Prashant was unlucky to miss his century by 2 runs but it was mainly due to his efforts that Colwell posted a total of 196 runs. HUDCO started off well to score 32 runs from 3 overs but then started to lose wkts at regular intervals playing irresponsible shots and thus lost the match by 43 runs when 33 deliveries were still to be bowled. Headstrong got a strong hold on the match when Shafiq & Abhishek got a wkt each in their first overs. Aashish played responsibly to keep the strike rotating while Anirudh played too many dot deliveries. Amandeep bowled Anirudh and then sent 2 more batsmen back to pavilion on the score of 47 runs. Ankit & Aashish bailed their team out of trouble by adding 27 runs for 6 th wkt stand. Ankit, Saurav & Sandeep used long handle to good affect and helped their team post a total of 129 runs. 13 Quarterfinal - 1 Date: Venue: Jesus & Merry College JRA Vs. KPMG Deciding to bat, JRA got a quick start of 32 runs from 4 overs but lost second wkt on the score of 43 runs. Ravi Chandran came in and blasted the bowlers to round the park scoring 76 runs off 38 deliveries and shared partnership of 101 runs with Sriram for the 3 rd wkt. KPMG made a good recovery after the fall of Ravi Chandran as they bowled out JRA for 205 runs. Vishwanathan & Mahesh bowled well with new ball to take 5 wkts between them and later Ranganathan took 3 wkts reducing KPMG to 98 for 8 wkts after 16 overs. Manish joined Pradeep Rana and they took the attack to opposition by sharing a partnership of 77 runs from 5.4 overs. Koqab sent both of them to pavilion and with this started the downfall of Colwell as except for Ashwani Sharma no other batsman stayed on the wicket for long resulting in being bowled out for a small total of 121 runs. Raman was unfortunately run out but Vineet & Manish shared 79 runs partnership to take the match away from Colwell and later Manish & Irfan made sure that their team enters the semifinal of the tournament with 7 overs to spare. 15 Quarterfinal - 3 Date: Venue: DDA Sports Complex, Pitampura XL Capital Vs. Prasar Bharti Ravinder Nayal was first to go when Prasar Bharti decided to bat on winning the toss. Except for Ravider Singh & Satinder who scored 21 & 26 runs respectively, other fell like pack of cards and Prasar Bharti was reduced to 87 for 9 wkts. A gutsy undefeated partnership for last wkt helped Prasar Bharti to put 108 runs on the board. All bowlers bowled economically but Kunal & Rahul bowled extremely well to take 3 & 2 wkts respectively. Prasar Bharti bounced back by taking 3 quick wkts but Parminder & Rahul bailed their team out of trouble with partnership of 38 runs. Headstrong lost Mohit & Sanjay in quick succession but Shafiq & Suhel took the score past 50 runs and later Suhel & Yashpal added 40 runs partnership to reach 94 runs after completion of 19 overs. Batsmen to follow could not make any vital contributions and as a result, Headstrong could post only 137 runs on the board. Virender & Mani bowled well to take 3 & 2 wkts respectively. Both openers were back in pavilion as a result of run out and soon Sanjay also departed on the score of 32 runs.
