1 CLUB SUNBURY The latest news and updates from Hillton High School I N T H I S I S S U E FOOD & 49 WINE CLUB NEXT DATE Carla at the Games! 5 April - 13 April The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games bowls event will be held over nine of the eleven days of competition, from April 5 to 13. EASTER CADBURY PROMOTION TRIVIA NIGHT EXCITING FUNCTION ROOM HIRE OFFER Club Sunbury team member and Australia's Number One female bowler, Carla Krizanic has been chosen as part of the team! We'll all be cheering her on! Commonwealth Games Australia will announce the open team s positions closer to the Games, with each player to contest two of the eight disciplines, of singles, pairs, triples and fours for each gender. Bowls is a core sport of the Commonwealth Games, and has been included in the sporting programme since the inaugural Games in 1930, with the exception of 1966 in Kingston, Jamaica. Australia s bowlers have won nine gold, nineteen silver and ten bronze medals since 1930, with women not playing until Riddell Rd, Sunbury

2 Manager's Report by Andrew Breeden-Walton Dear Members. The New Year is well underway and we have enjoyed a busy and prosperous few months of trade over Christmas. We hope that all your celebrations were eventful and catch up with families and friends were enjoyable. Christmas Day lunch was well patronised with over 90 enjoying our festive lunch set menu on Christmas Day. Thank you to all our members who supported the Club staff by attending and the feedback was positive with all diners enjoying the day. Our Monday Trivia Nights Strictly Quizzness have been very successful. Over 16 teams have been regularly attending and competing for fantastic prizes each week. Our pizza and a drink deal for only $12.50 has also been well supported on Monday nights in the Restaurant. Tell your friends and get a team down we still have room. Our fantastic host Ben and his wacky and weird sense of humour is entertaining to say the least. Starts at 7pm. Call Reception on to book your table and team in. Our Wine Club continues to promote local wineries and another event is planned for the end of March. Details are enclosed in this edition of the newsletter. Thankyou to Di and Graeme Lofts for their tireless efforts to organise these events under our banner of Food And Wine at 49 branding. We have a Facebook page for you to follow named this as well. Be sure to LIKE it and SHARE the events with your FB friends. Easter is fast approaching, and we have a fantastic promotion for the whole of Club to enjoy. Hamper give away and prizes which start 1 March 2018 with entries at the Club will be sure to provide value and rewards to all participants if you are lucky enough to win the draw. I would like to take this opportunity to recognise and thank one of our long term staff members Ross Hooter Bridgland for his services of over 19 years to Sunbury Bowling Club, who is leaving us at the end of the month to move to Moama on the Murray. Ross has been a credit to the Club and to the bowls section for the past many years and a true Club-man on and off the greens. When I first met Ross in 2016 on my commencement as GM, I could see he was straight up worker and contributed well at the Club. I hope that he has many fond memories of his time here and celebrates with the past and present staff, Managers and Bowls Members at an informal afternoon tea coming up. Good one Ross and all the best! We also bid farewell to some other staff at the end of February, those being Sabhi Singh our Second Chef and Harrison Bence our Apprentice Greenkeeper. I wish them all the best with their future endeavours. During March there will be a slight price increase for bar items which is a result of supplier price increases being passed on. We are still one of the cheapest Clubs in Sunbury and we are certain the modest increase will be understood by the majority of Members of the Club. Notices have been placed at bars and ed in advance of the increase. If you have any feedback, please it through or come and speak to myself or Adam Barnard, our Assistant Manager about it. 6 Employee of the Month Club Sunbury is committed to ensuring our staff are rewarded for their hard work. Damian Kuru is one of our Gaming staff who is a quiet achiever who always delivers great customer service with a smile! Goodbye Ross! We said goodbye to one of our longest serving employees in February - Ross Bridgland. He has made a 'tree change' and moved to Moama where he plans to take it easy and live the good life with his partner Kathy. We wish him well!

7 Valentine's Day Hamper Winner We loved giving away this fantastic hamper on Valentine's Day! John was our lucky winner who dined here on the 14th February. Congratulations John!! Bowlers Handles Our new Bowls Assist handles are now ready for use. These will greatly assist the bowlers when getting off and on the greens.

8 Support the Good Friday Appeal! Support the Good Friday Appeal! One of our Affiliated Members - Stephen Falzon is a talented artist and has kindly donated his prized works for an Easter Raffle! The paintings are both on display in our Bistro and you have the opportunity to not only support the Good Friday Appeal but take home one of these beautiful paintings. Tickets are available now and can be bought from staff members in the Bistro and in Gaming and ALL proceeds are donated to the Good Friday Appeal. Raffle will be drawn on the Thursday 29/4/18 at 7.00pm. Terms & Conditions on display next to paintings.
