1 VALLEY DISTRICT CRICKET CLUB Est JUNIOR CRICKET SEASON INFORMATION SHEET This Information Sheet will have all the details required to join Valley Juniors in the 2018/19 season. REGISTRATIONS All registrations must be made online via the MyCricket website. If you played last season and your address in MyCricket is current, you will receive an providing instructions on how to sign on via the MyCricket website. A link to the MyCricket registration page can also be found on the Valleys website under the Registrations tab. Online Registrations open SATURDAY 28 JULY Registrations for Super Sixes and Saturday Competition will close on SUNDAY 2 SEPTEMBER This will give our volunteer Age Coordinators enough time to allocate players in teams. PLEASE REGISTER BEFORE THE CLOSING DATE TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT. REGISTRATIONS FROM MONDAY 3 SEPTEMBER WILL ONLY BE ACCEPTED IF SPACES ARE AVAILABLE. SIGN ON DAY Volunteers will be available to assist you with your online registrations and any other enquiries. Cash, credit card, cheque and eftpos payments will be accepted at the Sign-On day. WHEN Sunday 19 August 2018 from 3:00 5:00pm WHERE Valleys Clubhouse, Yoku Road, Ashgrove PROGRAMS AND COMPETITIONS AVAILABLE FOR ALL AGES THESE PROGRAMS ARE RECOMMENDED FOR CHILDREN NEW TO CRICKET AND WANT TO LEARN THE BASIC SKILLS. WOOLWORTHS JUNIOR BLASTERS (5-7 YEARS) Woolworths Junior Blaster Program is Cricket s entry-level program for girls and boys aged between 5 and 7. This program teaches children the basic skills of cricket in an environment that is fun, safe and most importantly promotes a healthy lifestyle where children develop social skills and make new friends. All players will receive a hat, shirt, cricket bat and ball. For more information check WOOLWORTHS MASTER BLASTERS (6-12 YEARS) Woolworths Master Blaster is a competition for girls and boys aged between 8 to 12. It is a modified game of cricket played for 90 minutes and helps junior cricketers to progress with confidence from Woolworths Junior Blaster to competitive club cricket competitions. All players will receive a BBL cap, and a Valley training shirt. For more information check THESE COMPETITIONS ARE RECOMMENDED FOR PLAYERS WHO ALREADY HAVE THE BASIC SKILLS OF CRICKET. SUPER SIXES COMPETITION (7-8 YEARS) Super Sixes is a great introduction to the game of cricket. This fast-moving game involves 6 players on the field. Children will acquire skills in batting, bowling, wicketkeeping and fielding in a fun and safe environment. Only full season is offered in this competition. SATURDAY COMPETITION (9-17 YEARS) Valleys offers Saturday games for children in the U10 to Open (16-17 yrs) age groups. Half and full cricket seasons are available in this competition. NEW U10s and U11s to commence modified T20 game. For more details about U10s and U11s new playing format and other age groups, please check the Quick Reference Guide from pages 7-9 of this Information Sheet.

We do encourage girls and boys to play in the Woolworths Junior or Master Blaster competition as a great way to learn basic skills. Players wishing to play up one age group are free to do so in the Saturday Competition Only. Half and full season players are not permitted to play in the same teams unless this is necessary to make up team numbers. PLEASE NOTE: The first child is always considered the full season player when your children have different season lengths. POST-CHRISTMAS NEW REGISTRATION (Super Sixes to Open age groups - Only if spaces are available) HALF SEASON REGISTRATION FEE Each child $150 (incl. GST) VALLEY REGISTRATION FEE INCLUDES WOOLWORTHS JUNIOR BLASTERS will receive a hat, shirt, cricket bat and ball. WOOLWORTHS MASTER BLASTERS will receive a BBL cap, Valleys training shirt and waterbottle. SUPER SIXES AND SATURDAY COMPETITION PLAYERS A baggy blue cap for new players, a team training shirt, water bottle, player insurance, Brisbane North Junior Cricket Association affiliation fees, Queensland Cricket affiliation fees, team playing kit, match balls and weekly structured team coaching sessions. VOLUNTEER LEVY The volunteer levy was introduced to encourage parents to take a more active role in the club. The club is always looking for volunteer coaches and managers to assist their team. In recognition of their assistance, a refund volunteer levy of $50 (full season) and $35 (half season) is offered to parents. This levy is included in the fee structure in this information sheet. A detailed policy on the levy and the circumstances in which it will be refunded is on the Club website, under Junior Policies.
4 TRAINING SESSIONS Training sessions are held at the Ashgrove Sports Ground, Yoku Road. Please contact Clinton Kempnich, Junior Coaching Director if you have any questions regarding the sessions. Age Group Day Time Under 8 Monday 5:00-6:00pm Under 9 Tuesday 5:00-6:00pm Under 10 Monday 6:15-7:15pm Girls (All age groups) Thursday TBC Under 11 to Open age groups The coach will determine training times, and parents will be advised. Some training will be conducted off site at local schools. GAME CANCELLATIONS Games or training are on unless you are advised otherwise. Your team manager will contact you if rain is affecting the fields. Alternatively, up to date weather reports/game cancellations will be posted on the Brisbane North Junior Cricket Association website ( and on the Valley Junior Facebook page. However individual game cancellations are made at the coach s discretion unless a blanket cancellation has been advised by BNJCA. AGE GROUP COORDINATORS The Junior Management Committee consists of Coordinators for each Age Group. If you have any questions regarding registration, team allocation and other information, please contact your Coordinator. The contact list is on this information sheet or on our Valley website under Juniors. TEAM ALLOCATIONS Your Age Group Coordinator will advise of team allocations, including the team s coach and manager details by late September Please indicate when registering if you wish your child to be placed in the same team as the previous season and the Coordinators will try to accommodate your request. Please ensure that your child is in the correct age group when requesting to play with their friends. If you have organised a team, please complete the Team Nomination Form, found on the last page of this Information Sheet. You can find also find this form under the 'Juniors tab on the Valley website. Please note: Coordinators will only allocate players from your nomination form, if they have registered and paid online. EQUIPMENT AND CRICKET GEAR WOOLWORTHS JUNIOR AND MASTER BLASTER PROGRAMS Players can wear any sporting attire. They will be provided with a shirt, which they can choose to wear at the games. All cricket equipment will be provided. SUPER SIXES AND SATURDAY COMPETITION A team kit is provided to every team that contains everything necessary for the game. However, as players progress through the age groups, they often prefer to have their own equipment. Please ensure all privately owned gear is clearly labelled. All players must wear a protective box when playing. For hygiene reasons, these should be purchased individually. Players are asked to wear the following to the game: Shirt A plain white collared shirt or shirt with the Club logo Pants White long pants Shoes and socks Any sport shoes and white socks Cap or hat Valleys junior baggy blue caps are provided to all new junior players only. A broad-brimmed white hat is recommended for Saturday competitions. Valley-logo uniforms and broad-brimmed hats, along with all cricket equipment items are available from our major club sponsor Keith Dudgeon Cricket Specialist shop at 64 Koorong Street, The Gap ( or ). Images are provided on the following pages. Additional baggy blues can be purchased from the canteen.
