1 Goals 1. To teach the children fun and funky jazz moves ( hip-pop ), as well as introduce specific body isolations to them that are the basis for hip-hop. The children are not quite developmentally ready for this, but an introduction is fine. The fun and funky style of movement as well as being able to isolate a movement to a particular body part or body section will help to prepare them for their transition from hip-pop to true hip-hop. 2. To allow the children to let their inhibitions go and not care what they look like or what other people think about the way they look when they are dancing. 3. To encouragement the child s individuality by showing the children the moves they are to do, but allowing them to make the steps their own by incorporating their own style. 4. To introduce the children to a form of dance that they are most likely not already familiar with through both dance moves and videos of different styles of hip-hop. 5. To instill in the children that hip-hop is all about having fun and is not a strict form of dance. (there is no right or wrong way to do anything) 6. To learn jazz technique that will enable them to cross over to any jazz class in the future. 7. To help the children to be comfortable doing all types of movement by being able to adapt to different styles of hip-hop quickly as well as be familiar with many different styles of dance (jazz, hip-hop etc). 8. To mainly play hip-pop music in class, but to add in some fairly mellow hip-hop music-fully understanding what is appropriate for this age level.
