1 Csplay at Shwmasters Csplay Masquerade Grand Final 2018 The Shwmasters Events Csplay Masquerade Grand Final 2018 will be held at Lndn Film and Cmic Cn (LFCC) n Saturday the 28th July Entering the Grand Final There are tw ways peple can enter int the LFCC Grand Final. Online Applicatins Csplayers can enter the Grand Final by submitting an nline applicatin frm and the fllwing restrictins apply: Anyne wh is entering the final must be able t attend n Saturday 28 th July 2018 at Lndn Film and Cmic Cn and have purchased a valid entry ticket befre the event. Any cstume entered int the final must have been at least 80% made by the persn entering. Cmmissined cstumes are nt permitted. The Cstume entered int the applicatin frm must be the cstume wrn in the final. Yu may enter a Csplays that is still in wrking prgress but prgress pictures will be required fr the assessment prcess. If yu present at the Csplay Desk in a different cstume yu will be disqualified. Entrants are required t prvide a clear high-quality reference image at pre-judging n the 28 th July. Prgress pictures, materials list and prgress flders are welcme but ptinal. Entrants have until Midnight n 30 th April t submit their applicatin frm. Online Applicatins will be assessed by the Shwmasters Csplay Panel* Applicants will be cntacted by 31 st May 2018 t advise if their submissin has been successful t allw sufficient time t cmplete the cstume, purchase tickets and plan travel and accmmdatin. 2 Guaranteed Entry First place winners at Shwmasters reginal events held frm 1 st August 2017 have a guaranteed spt in the Grand Final. S far mre than 10 talented Csplayers have earned their place. Fr 2018 the Csplay Masquerade first place winners at the fllwing Reginal Events will qualify: Film and Cmic Cn Cardiff (12 th & 13 th May 2018) Film and Cmic Cn Burnemuth (19 th & 20 th May 2018) Cllectrmania 25 / Film and Cmic Cn Birmingham (2 nd & 3 rd June 2018) Friday nly Masquerade at Lndn Film and Cmic Cn (27 th July 2018) Judging The judging panel will cnsist f 5 peple wh are well respected in the csplay cmmunity. They will between them have a wide range f expert skills in crafting cstumes. The judges will fllw a set f guidelines t give each cstume a scre under three different categries. Tw f the categries (Accuracy and Cnstructin) will be scred in Pre-Judging with up t 20 pints (40%) n ffer fr each categry. The third categry f Perfrmance will be scred during the masquerade with up t 10 pints (20%) available. Cstumes can earn a maximum f 50 pints altgether. Winners f the different categries will be determined n scres earnt in each categry. Pre-judging All finalists will have the pprtunity t be pre-judged thrughut the day. All entrants will need t check in at the csplay desk befre 1pm t select yur pre-judging slt althugh we d recmmend that yu sign in as early as pssible t give yurself the best pprtunity f selecting a slt that desn t clash with ther activities yu have bked at the Cnventin. There will be slts available in the mrning and afternn. Yu will need t prvide the Judges with a clear high-quality reference image f yur cstume. Yu will have a maximum f 3 minutes with the judges where yu will talk thrugh and shw the different elements f yur cstume. 80% f the scring is determined in this sessin s please cme well prepared.

3 Accuracy This sectin f the judging lks at hw much the cstume is alike t the f the character. It lks at attentin t detail and materials used. Csplayers are required t bring their wn high quality and clear reference pht t their pre-judging slt. Scre Attentin t Detail Clurs and Textures 1 t 5 Very little detail in cstume, Clurs and textures are wrng r sme elements frm cstume missing missing and dn t match cstume 6 t 10 Sme detail in cstume but basic, mst elements f the cstume are present but sme are different 11 t 15 All elements f cstume are present, mstly crrect but sme details are missing/wrng. Mre detail in cstume 16 t 19 Ambitius cstume, all elements f cstume are present and mst detail has been added and crrect 20 Extremely detailed and ambitius cstume. All elements present with high amunt f detail and crrect Clurs mstly match and textures are a basic chice fr cstume Clurs match and sme texture/finer details have been used/added n clser inspectin Clurs are a perfect match, textures lk mre realistic and mre finer details added ver all Clurs and texture are perfect fr the cstume. Extra attentin t finer details shwing, grains etc. The judges will award each cstume a scre ut f 20 fr Accuracy which will cntribute up t 40% f the verall mark. The scre ut f 20 is determined by the cmbinatin f the factrs represented in the abve table. Cnstructin The cnstructin scre takes int accunt tw elements, techniques and the difficulty f thse techniques used t create the cstume. The judges will als take nte f the cnditin f the cstume, fr example, if there is any wear r tear r brken parts. Please nte deliberate distressing / Battle Damage detail will nt be cunted as wear and tear. But yu shuld make sure yu highlight this during pre-judging. Scre Techniques Difficulty 1 t 5 Nt many techniques used Basic level f skill required 6 t 10 A few different techniques used Skills are mre difficult t cmplete 11 t 15 A gd amunt f techniques used at a A gd number f difficult skills used gd skill level 16 t 19 A high amunt f techniques used at a gd skill level. Sme variety t techniques 20 A wide range f different techniques used at a high skill level Mre advanced skilled used, mre variety t types f skills used Very advanced skills used in nncmmn technique area The judges will award each cstume a scre ut f 20 fr Cnstructin which will cntribute up t 40% f the verall mark. The scre ut f 20 is determined by the cmbinatin f the factrs represented in the abve table.

4 Perfrmance The perfrmance sectin f judging can be ne f the mst difficult. It measures a csplayers ability t get int character and create an apprpriate atmsphere which will captivate the audience. The perfrmance shuld demnstrate creative skills, humur/dramatic aura and be entertaining. Scre Character Persna Entertainment 1 t 3 Nt in character and mismatched bdy mvements Lacks ideas, basic pses and nt suitable fr character 4 t 6 Tk n sme characteristics including bdy mvements Suitable fr the character but nt very creative and lacks passin and 7 t 9 Became the character including bdy mvements, stance and tried accents if applicable 10 Tk n the character rle cmpletely, using accents (where suitable), bdy mvements and stance emtin/humur Brings character t life, dramatic/humrus, creative and entertaining Perfrmance was perfect. Used a wide range f skills, facial expressins, emtins and passin. Was dramatic r humrus The judges will award each csplayer a scre ut f 10 fr Perfrmance which will cntribute up t 20% f the verall mark. The scre ut f 20 is determined by the cmbinatin f the factrs represented in the abve table. The use f apprpriate music r stage prps t aid a perfrmance where suitable may help twards the verall perfrmance scre but is nt a required element. Stage time As part f the cmpetitin each cntestant will perfrm n stage in character. These are the stage rules fr the final: Perfrmance must be a minimum f 30 secnds and a maximum f 2 minutes in length. A sund track/pre-recrded dialgue can be used during the perfrmance. This must be edited and added t yur applicatin in MP3 frmat at least tw weeks prir t the event. Wireless handheld micrphnes are available. We will nt be able t change any lighting as the venue and stage set up des nt allw fr lighting effects.
