1 Autumn Skate 2016 Sanctioned by Friday, Nov. 18, 2016 through Sunday Nov. 20, 2016 LOCATION : RINK : The Skating Club of Wilmington 1301 Carruthers Lane Wilmington, DE (302) Website: Single-surface facility, 85' by 197' with plastic dasher. Located on Carruthers Lane off East Park Drive near the intersection of I-95 and Route 202 (Concord Pike). Snack bar on premises will be open throughout the competition. Secure Online Registration and credit card payment at No admission fee will be charged for spectators. Autumn Skate 2016 will be conducted according to the US Figure Skating rulebook. The 6.0 judging system will be used for all events. ELIGIBILITY : This competition is open to all eligible, restricted, reinstated or readmitted persons as defined by the Eligibility Rules, and is a currently registered member of a U.S. Figure Skating member club, a collegiate club or an individual member in accordance with the current rulebook. Please refer to the current rulebook for non-u.s. Citizens. Singles and Pairs events: Skaters may enter any event for which they qualify or one level higher, but not both levels in the same event. Skaters are not allowed to skate down one level. Skaters may enter either a standard track free skating event or competitive test track, but not both. A skater deciding to skate up a level in one event is not required to skate up a level in all events. Couples and Solo Dance: Skaters may enter any event for which they qualify and also one level higher. Learn to Skate: This competition will follow the most current rules of eligibility as published in the Compete USA Competition Manual. Please refer to the following link for more specific information. SCHEDULE: A tentative schedule will be available approximately two weeks before the competition at Please check for schedule changes prior to traveling to the competition. Online entry must be completed by midnight on October 23, No Paper Entries will be accepted.

2 ENTRY FEES: Singles, Solo Dance, Short and Free Dance: First Event $105; each additional event $60 Pairs: First Event $105 per couple; each additional event $60 per couple Couples Dance: All have been structured as one-dance events. First pattern dance for each team $60; each additional dance $30. If same skater has two different partners, must be considered entered as separate teams. Coaches are considered partners. Learn to Skate Events: First Learn to Skate event - $45, additional Learn to Skate event $30. Learn to Skate Team : event) $45 per team (minimum 3 skaters and each skater must be entered in another basic skills REFUNDS: Refunds, minus the online processing fee, are available if withdrawal is prior to midnight on October 24, On or after October 24, 2016 refunds will only be made in accordance with USFS Rule #3040. NO REFUNDS will be granted after the Entry Deadline for any reason, including medical withdrawals, unless no competition exists or the event is cancelled by the Chief Referee. The online processing fee is not refundable for any reason. LATE ENTRIES: At the discretion of the Committee late entries may be accepted, subject to a fee of $20 for Learn to Skate, all other events will be charged $40. REGISTRATION: A registration desk will open approximately one hour before the first event of each day. All competitors should register to receive their complimentary gift. When ready to skate, competitors need to check in 20 minutes with the ice monitor before each of their event. Competitors who have not checked in with the ice monitor before their event warm-up begins shall be considered withdrawn. MUSIC: Competition music must be submitted electronically via the on-line registration system Entryeeze at by 11/04/16 After you have paid for your events, the on line system will prompt you to upload your music for each event that requires music. If your music is not available at that time, you can logout of your account and return later to upload your music by going to the competition tab and then selecting my music. Your music must meet the following criteria. If you have questions about what format you have, please contact your coach and obtain a new version of your music that meets the criteria listed below. Music Criteria : 1) File Format: MP3 (the online system will automatically check this). 2) Bit Rate: 192 kbps or higher (this will be checked by the music chairperson and they may request you upload a corrected copy). 3) Sample Rate: 44,100 khz (this will be checked by the music chairperson and they may request you upload a corrected file). Leaders and Trailers: While we prefer there be NO leaders or trailers (the silence or dead space before and or after the actual start and end of the program music), we are requesting a MAXIMUM of no more than two (2) seconds if one is needed. Excessive leaders and trailers may disrupt the playing of the music during competition. Competitors must also bring a copy of their competition music on CD as a backup AT RINKSIDE in case of technical difficulties. Each backup CD must contain only one track. Due to compatibility and reliability issues, no music may be submitted on re-recordable CD-RW discs. AWARDS: Awards Ceremonies will take place upstairs in the Mitchell Lounge. The award schedule will be posted at the entrance to the Mitchell Lounge. Medals will be awarded to First, Second, Third, and Fourth place winners in every event (exception: all Learn to Skate skaters receive a medal). The following trophies will also be awarded. Winners names will be engraved on the perpetual trophies displayed at the Skating Club of Wilmington and keepsakes will be awarded for the skater to take home.

FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY IS NOT PERMITTED AT ANY TIME. The titled service will be offered throughout the entire competition. The vendor will be located in the rink for convenience to view photos and ordering of their services. COACHES: LIABILITY: LODGING: SAFESPORT: CONTACTS : 1) All coaches must comply with U.S. Figure Skating Rule MR 5.11 Coach Registration. Coaches will need to check in at the event registration desk and show a government issued photo I.D. to receive a credential. The registration desk will have a list of coaches who are cleared for credentials at the competition. Coaches who are NOT on the list will need to show proof of membership in both U.S. Figure Skating and the PSA, a coaches Registration card, proof of Category A or B (C for Learn to Skate) compliance in CER, and a photo ID at check in. If a coach cannot provide a photo I.D. and is not on the list or cannot produce the necessary documents, he or she will not be allowed a credential NO EXCEPTIONS. We strongly urge all coaches to have their cards with them. Only credentialed coaches will be permitted in the designated coaching area at rink side during events including practice sessions. Coaching at U.S. figure Skating events without proper registration is an ethics violation which is reportable to U.S. Figure Skating and the PSA. 2) It is each coach s responsibility to verify and approve each of their skaters events and level on a timely basis. Please make sure the on file with Entryeeze is correct. 3) For Learn to Skate ONLY coaches Any person, 18 and older, instructing a U.S. Figure Skating Learn to Skate Program must have successfully passed the annual background screen and be registers as a Learn to Skate instructor member. U. S. Figure Skating, Skating Club of Wilmington undertake no responsibility for damages or injuries suffered by the skaters or officials. As a condition of and in consideration of the acceptance of their entries or participation therein, all entrants, their parents and guardians and officials shall be deemed to agree to assume all risks of injury to their person and property resulting from, caused by or connected with, the conduct and management of the competition, and to waive and release any and all claims which they may have against any officials, the USFSA, The Skating Club of Wilmington and against its Officers, and their entries shall be accepted only on such condition. The Beginner through the Juvenile and Open Juvenile categories will be skated on ½ ice. All other categories will be skated on full ice. 18 EVENT : Compete USA Team Compulsories Format: The designated skater from each team will perform their chosen element in sequence on full ice, with no music, and will follow this format: 1. Minimum of three skaters on a team; each skater will do at least one required element. 2. When the event is called, all skaters will take the ice for a two (2) minute STROKING ONLY warm-up. 3. This will be followed by a one (1) minute individual warm-up for the elements. 4. Teams will be directed to find a base for their team along the boards on the ice where they will stay for the remainder of the event. 5. The announcer, referee or judge-in-charge will call the first element (e.g. jump or stop) to be performed. 6. The team member performing the element will step forward and execute the skill, with the element first being performed by the skater on team one, then team two, then team three and so on 7. Once all the teams have had their skaters complete the element, the next element will be called. 8. Judging is done with one mark for each element (skater) for total team points. 9. Repeat #4-7 above as this will be done in sequence until all the elements at each level are completed. 19 EVENT: Basic Skills Showcase Events Format: Showcase groups will be divided by number of entries and ages if possible. Vocal music is permitted and 6.0 judging will be used. Deductions will be made for skaters including technical elements not permitted in the event description. Showcase categories may include: Dramatic entertainment: Showcase program utilizing intense emotional skating quality to depict choreographic theme. Light entertainment: Showcase program emphasizing such choreographic expressive qualities such as comedy, love and mime while incorporating skating skills. Duets: Theatrical/artistic performances by any competitors. Mini production ensembles): Theatrical performances by three to seven competitors. Production ensembles: Theatrical performances by eight to 30 skaters. NOTE: Skaters may enter only one each duet, mini production or production event. General event parameters: Show costumes are permitted, as long as they do not touch or drag on the ice. Props and scenery must be placed and removed by unaided singles and duet competitors within one minute and by unaided ensemble contestants within two minutes for setup and two minutes for removal. A 0.2 deduction will be assessed by the referee against each judges mark for each five seconds in excess of the time allowed for the performance, for handling props and scenery and for scenery assistance. Performances will be judged from an entertainment standpoint for theatrical and artistic qualities. Technical skating skills and difficulty will not be rewarded; however, skating must be the major element of the performance and be of sufficient quality to support the selected theatrical elements. Unintended falls, poorly executed skating elements and obvious losses of control will reduce contestant s marks. Jump difficulty is not rewarded in showcase; therefore jumps, if choreographed, should be performed with style, flow and confidence. Theatrical elements evaluated will include energy, poise, acting, pantomime, eye contact, choreography, form/extension and the use of props and ice.
