4 1. DETERMINATION OF SCORES 1.1 D-Score/Start Score This is also referred to as the Difficulty Score. This is determined by the content of the routine Division 1 In Division 1 the routines are optional. A routine is composed of Difficulty Value (number of skills from the Australian Levels Program (ALP) Code of Points) and Compositional requirements (types of skills, series etc). The combination of the Difficulty Value (DV) and Compositional Requirements (CR) will form the D-score. Division 1 is judged as per the principals of National Levels (NL) Divisions 2-5 School Girls Divisions 2-5 have compulsory routines. If a gymnast completes all of the elements/skills in the routine the Start Score will be The Head Judge will always recognise the difficulty value of the element when it is performed in the compulsory routine. In the case that skills are missing the following deductions will be taken from the Start Score. Skill omitted the value of the skill for Bar, Beam & Floor, either 1.0 or 0.5 (non value skills). Divisions 2-5 is judged as per the principals of National Levels (NL) Stations Challenge The Station Challenge Division is a fast paced skills only competition. Each skill is individually assessed. There is no D-score/Start score. See for more information. Stations Challenge is judged/evaluated as per the principals of Foundation Levels. 1.2 E-Score This is the gymnasts execution score. This is determined by calculating the total deductions, composition and artistry faults in the routine and taking these from Division 1: deductions are simply deducted from Division 2-5: for Bars, Beam and Floor these deductions are halved before they are deducted from Vault deductions are not halved. The final E-score is determined by averaging the judges E-scores. With 2 or 3 judges the average is simply calculated. In the instance where there are 4-6 judges the highest and lowest E-scores are eliminated and the other scores averaged. Gymnastics WA 2015 WAG School Girls Manual Page 4
5 The routines will be judged by the General Table of Faults as shown in the ALP Manual (please contact GWA Office for more information). For divisions 2-5, the deductions on Bars, Beam and Floor are halved. 1.3 Final Score Division 1 The gymnasts final score is determined by adding the D-score and the E-score (minus any neutral deductions) Division 2-5 The gymnasts final score is determined by deducting the E-score from the start score (minus any neutral deductions) Stations Challenge The Station Challenge Division is a fast paced skills only competition. Scores are simply a 1-5 ranking for each skill. An average of all the skills for all athletes is calculated, and depending on the range that the average sits in, the Team are awarded Bronze, Silver or Gold awards.
