Awards are only given out for the free skate event segments at the Regional Championships for singles athletes and at the Sectional Championships for pairs and dance athletes. January is National Skating Month! Bring a prospective member to skate for free with free skate rental during the Sunday family sessions in January. National Skating Month Open House will be held on January 10 th from 1:00 to 2:30 pm. Please note that there are no club sponsored on or off-ice classes from December 24 th through January 3 rd. (Please note that the Wednesday night Adult classes will not resume until January 13 th.)

This year our annual Basic Skills Competition Boots and Blades (April 24, 2016) will be part of the 2016 Philly Skate Fest Basic Skills Competition Series. During the competition season skaters will have the chance to compete at different area clubs and earn points for a final standing and Series Trophy. Philly Skate Fest Competitions include: April 24 th - Boots & PSC&HS May 7 th - Spring Oaks Center Ice May 14 th - Spring Wissahickon Holiday Gift Ideas! Here are a few holiday gift ideas for the skater on your list: Give a PSC&HS Gift Certificate! Gift certificates can be purchased for use in the Skate Shop or Snack Bar. Do you know a beginner skater who is interested in lessons? Buy them a Learn to Skate registration! You can purchase a gift certificate for LTS and help them get on their way to skating! Need something a little smaller for a friendly neighbor? How about a gift certificate for a Friday evening public session? Always appreciated!! We have an assortment of women s Ugg Classic boots in stock (sizes 7, 8, and 9). Short classics are $125, Tall classics are $150. Check with Fran to see if you size and color is available. March 4-6, 2016 Not only are we looking for Adult skaters to compete but we are also looking for plenty of volunteers to ensure that this event will be a success and a memorable event for our adult visitors. Minutes from the December 21, 1849 meeting: Philadelphia December 21st, 1849 In pursuance of a notice to that effect a number of gentlemen friendly to the formation of a Skaters Club for the city and county of Philadelphia met at Stigman s Hotel George Street above Sixth Street and was organized by calling Colonel James Page to the chair, and appointing William H. Jones, secretary. On motion it was resolved, that those present constitute a committee to invite skaters to attend an adjourned meeting preparatory to the formation of a club to be styled the Skaters Club of Philadelphia, which it is deemed advisable to establish for the purpose objects of improvement, pleasure, companionship, and safety. On motion resolved, that when this meeting adjourned it will adjourn to meet on the evening of Friday the 28th of December at the same place. Adjourned.
