Sl Spins All Pairs Sl Spins The designatin V, as described in ISU Cmmunicatin #2186, will apply nly t sl spin cmbinatins and nt t flying spins fr all levels f pair skating. V will apply t sl spin cmbinatins in which nly 2 basic psitins are achieved by ne r bth partners and t sl spins with a clear change f ft in which fewer than 3 revlutins are achieved by ne r bth partners n ne ft. This applies in Nvice t bth SP and FS. Juvenile Sl Spin Spin in ne psitin, n change f ft: same time, in the same basic psitin). If this requirement is nt achieved, the spin will receive n higher than a Level Base, and features will nt be awarded. Intermediate Sl Spin Spin in ne psitin, n change f ft: same time, in the same basic psitin) t achieve a Level Base. If this requirement is nt achieved, the spin will receive n level and n value. Juvenile / Intermediate Sl Cmbinatin Spin With/Withut Change f Ft The minimum requirement fr a Level Base in a sl cmbinatin spin with r withut a change f ft is nly ne basic psitin (tw cntinuus revlutins in a basic psitin). In the case that tw r mre psitins are clearly attempted, but nly ne basic psitin is achieved, the call will be cmbinatin spin (with a change f ft) Level Base (CSpBV r CCSpBV). Fr spins with a change f ft: The basic psitin can be executed n either ft. A minimum f three revlutins n each ft is required by bth partners. If this is nt achieved, a V will be assigned. Pair Spins and Pair Spin Cmbinatins Juvenile / Intermediate Pairs Pair Spin (PSp) Fr pair spins the V des nt apply. Three revlutins by bth partners is required fr the pair spin t receive a value. Nvice Pairs Pair Spin (PSp) / Pair Spin Cmbinatin (PCSp) If a nvice pair team elects t perfrm a pair spin, the V des nt apply. One basic psitin by each partner is required fr the pair spin t receive a value. If a nvice pair team elects t perfrm a pair spin cmbinatin, this element will be evaluated in accrdance with the criteria in ISU Cmmunicatin #2186. If nly tw basic psitins are executed by bth partners, the designatin V will apply. If a nvice pair team attempts a PCSp in the Free Skate but, due t an errr, fails t achieve 3 revlutins befre r after the change f ft, the attempted change f ft can be disregarded by the technical panel. 3 Jumps: Bnus Juvenile Pairs Free Skate: 1.0 bnus fr each duble Axel achieved (under-rtated r full value) by bth partners. Intermediate Pairs Free Skate: 1.0 bnus fr each duble Axel achieved (under-rtated r full value) by bth partners. Nvice Pairs Shrt Prgram and Free Skate: 1.0 bnus fr each duble Axel and each triple jump achieved (under-rtated r full value) by bth partners Pivt Figure Juvenile Pairs The Pivt Figure (PiF) must have a minimum f ½ revlutin in a pivt by the man, and he must grip the lady with a ne-hand hld. If there is less than ½ revlutin in a pivt, r if the man hlds the lady with tw hands, the PiF will have n value. Lifts Juvenile and Intermediate Pairs Difficult variatins f the lady s air psitin, carries, changes f rtatinal directin, and nehand hlds by the man are nt permitted. If ne f these is executed the lift in questin will be called at a Level B and given the 2.0 pints illegal element deductin. Step Sequence Intermediate Pairs Step Sequence can achieve a maximum f Level 2. Features are listed n the fllwing page. If a team des nt perfrm a minimum variety f steps and turns, the sequence cannt be higher than Level B (base). If a team perfrms nly a minimum variety f steps and turns, the sequence cannt be higher than Level 1. 5 CLARIFICATIONS: JUVENILE AND INTERMEDIATE PAIRS LEVELS OF DIFFICULTY The juvenile and intermediate pairs levels f difficulty have been develped t create a better prgressin f skills frm juvenile t elite level pairs. Basic fundamentals f skating will be stressed and rewarded. Unless therwise specified, levels will nt be limited, but nly the juvenile and intermediate features will be awarded. LIFTS Grup 1 lifts withut full extensin f the arms are eligible fr all features. Grup 2 lifts withut full extensin f the arms are nly eligible fr features 3 and 4. 1) A simple variatin f the take-ff may include: a change f hld n the ascent, a psitin that is different than the required grup hld, fr example: the man skating frward n the take-ff f a Grup 2 r Grup 4 lift. Variatins MAY be repeated n each lift at juvenile and intermediate levels. 2) A simple landing variety may include: a change f hld n the descent, landing n the ther ft with a change f directin r a difficult leg hld. Variatins MAY be repeated n each lift at juvenile and intermediate levels. 3&4) Ice cverage will begin with the cntinuus ascent f the lift t the cntinuus descent f the lift. At n pint can the man carry the lady t achieve these features. *Grup 2 lifts nly: Full extensin f man s arms nt required STEP SEQUENCES Types f difficult turns and steps: rckers, cunters, brackets, twizzles, lps and Chctaws. Minimum variety includes at least 5 difficult turns and steps, nne f the types can be cunted mre than twice. Simple variety includes at least 7 difficult turns and steps, nne f the types can be cunted mre than twice. DEATH SPIRAL Well-balanced prgram rules fr intermediate pairs require that bth the man and the lady execute a minimum f ne-half revlutin with the man s knees clearly bent in full pivt psitin. Juvenile pairs must execute a pivt figure. A minimum f ne-half revlutin by the man in a pivt psitin is required fr cnfirmatin. Features d nt apply t the pivt figure. 1) Man s lw pivt psitin means the man s knees are clearly bent fr ne full revlutin. (At intermediate, the man s buttcks are NOT required t be belw his knee.) 2) Lady s lw psitin means fr inside death spirals the lwest hip r buttck and head shuld nt be higher than her skating knee; fr utside death spirals the head shuld nt be higher than her skating knee and bdyline between knee f skating leg and head shuld be flat r shallw arch. If during the death spiral lady s head never reaches the level f her skating knee, this feature is nt achieved. 3) An additinal level may be earned by the lady achieving an extra full revlutin. Lw psitin as defined fr 1) and 2) abve is required by bth the lady and the man in the additinal revlutin. 4) Difficult entry t a death spiral shuld be n the curve and n the leg f the death spiral, and while acquiring the actual death spiral psitin there shuld be a cntinuus and nt t prlnged mvement t this psitin. Entry cmmences at the beginning f the entry curve when ne r bth partners are already n ne ft n the edge f the death spiral. Exit starts when the man starts bending his hlding arm in the elbw and ends when the lady cmes t the vertical psitin. Only ne feature can be achieved, entry r exit. SOLO SPINS Only basic psitins will be awarded as features. Difficult variatins may be executed but will nt be awarded. Feature 1 r 2 can be cmbined with feature 4. Example: 6 revlutins in a basic sit = Level 2. The skaters are awarded tw features fr the basic sit ne feature fr the 6 revlutins withut changes in psitin and ne feature fr at least three revlutins in a basic sit. All features may nly be used nce, the first time they are attempted. The difficult entry feature is cnsistent with ISU Cmmunicatin #2186. Regular backward entry and regular flying camel will nt be awarded as features. The designatin V will be applied t juvenile and intermediate pairs fr cmbinatin spins but nt fr flying spins. PAIR SPINS Only basic psitins will be awarded as features. Difficult variatins must be in basic psitins.
