2 DESCRIPTIVE SUMMARY: Title: Deeds of Amwell Township, Hunterdon County, West New Jersey Collection Number: Mss. 94 Dates of Process: May June 2011 Volume: Restrictions: Access: Related Collections: Abstract:.25 cubic feet, in four oversized folders None During open library hours of the Society (12 PM to 4 PM every Thursday; 10 AM to 4 PM every 2 nd and 4 th Saturday of each month; and by appointment) None This collection contains sixteen (16) deeds describing land transfers in Amwell Township during the 1700s and early 1800 s. The dates span a time period when Amwell Township was under the jurisdiction of William Penn, and then the proprietary control of West New Jersey. During this time period Amwell Township included portions of what later became the town of Flemington. Most deeds include the titled history of the parcel. From the sequence of land owners property rights, heirs of estates, chain of title and genealogical data can be determined. Each deed is described by Grantor (From/Seller) to Grantee (To/Buyer); date of sale; purchase price if discernable; and lot size if discernable. 2
