1 The United States Air Force Fire Emergency Services Personal Protective Equipment Program Purchasing Guide The United States Air Force (USAF) has awarded Curtis a set of contracts to acquire commercial Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) across the United States Air Force (USAF) enterprise (i.e., both Contiguous United States (CONUS) and Outside the Contiguous United States (OCONUS)). Active Air Force, Air Force Reserve Command, and Air National Guard are authorized users of these contracts. Curtis Prime Contracts with the USAF includes three (3) separate Firm Fixed Price (FFP) single-award Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite (IDIQ) contracts (Chem Bio Firefighting Boots; Firefighting Hoods; and, Structural, Proximity and Technical Rescue Helmets and replacement helmet parts). Below is a list of those contracts, a brief synopsis of the corresponding scope, and how USAF agencies and affiliated personnel can purchase these items directly from Curtis. This contract should not be used by Air Force personnel for the procurement of general purpose firefighting boots CONUS and OCONUS delivery Approved for all USAF firefighters and FES-related personnel

2 USAF-approved Firefighter Hoods (USAF contract FA D-0003) (click on the picture for ordering information) Standard firefighting hood and firefighting instructor hood This contract was established for the procurement of Firefighting Hoods that meet NFPA 1971, Standard on Protective Ensembles for Structural and Proximity Fire Fighting, Current Edition. Double ply hood (Para-Tek inner and outer layers) with extra-long double ply bib, tapered back and notched shoulders. Extra length covers chest, shoulders and shoulder blades. Tapered back and notched shoulder design helps bib lie flat in front and back. One size fits all. CONUS and OCONUS delivery Approved for all USAF firefighters and FES-related personnel

4 The United States Air Force Chemical Biological Firefighting Boot Product Overview Globe PROXIMITY is the world s first leather boot to meet the radiant heat requirements of Proximity Fire Fighting in addition to meeting all of the requirements of Structural Fire Fighting in the NFPA 1971 standard so it can be the one boot you wear for all your calls. Flame-Resistant, Water-Resistant Heavy-Duty Leather Specially softened tumbled leather in high flex areas to move with you. 2. GORE CROSSTECH Footwear Fabric A full-height bootie liner made from a package of Omaha lining fabric, 300g insulation, and GORE CROSSTECH moisture barrier provides protection unmatched by any other waterproof, breathable barrier. 3. KEVLAR Blend Protective Shield Two layers of KEVLAR blend batting separated by spacer fabric protect the GORE CROSSTECH moisture barrier, provides cut resistance, and adds thermal protection. 4. Urethane foam bottom layer provides durable cushioning while a micro-cellular open-cell foam top layer delivers cool, all-day comfort. Moisture-wicking and anti-microbial fabric top pulls moisture away from your feet. An additional set of polymer inserts are provided to install under the footbeds when a snugger fit is desired D Composite Lasting Board Molded, contoured, and lasted to boot uppers with a built-in flex zone in the forefoot and a torsionally stable heel. Composite Puncture Protection Far more flexible than a steel plate and does not transmit heat or cold. Exceeds NFPA standards. 16. VIBRAM Contoured Cup Outsole Molded outsole wraps onto the leather upper for athletic shoe performance. Flame, abrasion, oil, acid and slip-resistant compound engineered for high traction and durability even during prolonged exposure to extremes of heat and cold. 17. Athletic Footwear Construction 2-part cross-linking adhesive bonds outsoles to the upper. Without stiff welts and ribbed mid-soles, this attachment process is far more flexible 18. Slip-Resistant Tread Siping thin slits cut into flat areas across the sole opens when flexed to provide additional traction on water and ice. Selfcleaning lugs and omni-direction tread pattern designed for superior performance in all terrains and when working on ladders.
