Championships at Canberra A sojourn overseas caused him to miss the 1970 season but he came back in 1971 and has been a full-time student since then When he crossed to Coburg the following year Spence played in the centre, but after missing the 1973 season, he went back to his ruck-roving job last year When Coburg coach Alan Salter transferred to University Blues as coach this season, Spence went with him, and is a ruck-rover with the Blues, of whom he was elected Vice-Captain by the players, a tribute to his popularity He hopes of course to be playing in the finals with the Blues this season and if he (and they) maintain their present form, that looks a certainty Spence already holds a degree of Bachelor of Arts and a Diploma of Physical Education He was a Phys Ed teacher for six years then a computer programmer for a year prior to his overseas trip Now he is doing a Master of Science course Spence has always looked after himself Innd seems to be playing as well as ever He considers Congratulations to James Agar on playing his 150th game for Old Brighton today For veirs, 'Big Jim' has been an institution,[own at the Beach Oval and his strong marking ' and goal-scoring ability have earned him the respect of both teammates and opponents Jim's unique ability to inspire players and spectators to greater participation in the game has also contributed to him baing one of the all-time greats for the club Unfortunately, business and private pressures have kept him out for the first half of the - season, but in his return last week he showed he had lost none of his ;ittributes Congratulations Jim on reaching his milestone 150 GAMES TO ST KILDA FULL-FORWARD Vic "Rome" Calleja today plays his 150th ~: me for St Kilda CBOC Over the years 4ic has proved by his goal-kicking feats hat he is one of the best full-forwards ever to play C grade Amateur football He has copped the goal-kicking a number of times Vic's main assets when he is playing is his superior judgment which enables him to get the ball on so many occasions, and his accurate kicking which enables him to kick so many goals He has kicked 34 goals this season and given many more away to his follow players with unselfish play Congratulations Rome on reaching this milestone and I hope the goals keep on coming 150 UP TO BULLEEN UNITED DEFENDER Gary Flint played his 150th game for Bulleen United last Saturday Having been with the club since the U 15's in 1965 This is a club record for number of games played Gary is a terrific clubman and a courageous back-pocket player, who won Best -and Fairest in 1967 and 1971 To reach this number is a credit to Gary since he suffered a serious back injury last year It was a double celebration last week, since Gary became a father for the first time as well CENTURY TO TRINITY GOAL-SNEAK Congratulations to Old Trinity's Stuart Stockdale who played his 100th game for the club against old Paradians last week Stuart has contributed to the club as a committeeman for several years, and has been a valuable player and leading goalkicker with the reserves since his first game in 1970 Stuart, like many mercurial full forwards, has a fine acting ability that has brought him many goals and the supporters much pleasure Well done Stu, if your tired old body holds -together we'd like to see 100 more 100 GAMES TO ST BEDE'S VICE CAPTAIN St Bede's congratulate Brian Irving on playing his 100th game last Saturday During his career Brian has,played as a defender and a forward, but over the last two seasons he has played mainly on the centreline Brian has always given the side great drive on the field and this season was appointed Vice Captain Off the field he has given great service to the club He has been a committeeman for the last 6 years and has always done more than his share of the work Once again congratulations Brian on reaching your "ton", and we hope that the old groin lasts for another 100 games MELBOURNE HIGH PLAYER REACHES CENTURY Bry an (Twiggy) Cormack played his hundredth game for MHSOB recently Bryan, who has returned to us after a tour of Biafra studying the local dietary habits, has been quick to regain his former brilliance and will soon be back in his rightful position in the firsts Bryan, who has never been known to refuse a glass of orange juice, is a keen and dedicated player, he once rode his push bike to a game when his car failed him, he's that dedicated!
