13 - April 9 April 16 April 23 Practice with the preteens, lining up and entering room, etc. Association Drill this afternoon. EASTER (no Bible Drill) Prepare for Regional/State Competition this coming Friday evening (April28) Review Review Review Review/ and relax Review Review Review Review Explanation of Game Ideas Bible Book Race: Divide into two teams. Have the teams stand in two lines. Place a set of names of books of the Bible on the floor in a distance in front of them. At your signal, the first player in each team goes to his set of names, finds the first book of the OT and places it on the floor. He goes back and taps the next player on the hand. That player finds the next book and places it next to the first name. If a player notices that one of the previous names is placed incorrectly, he may fix it. The first team to put all the names of the books of the OT/NT in order wins. People Mover: Divide into two teams. Tape words of verses to the front (or back) of the children s shirts. Have one person arrange them in order, without talking. The first team done correctly wins. Scavenger Hunt: Divide into two teams. Have them go into the hall. Hide the Key Passage references and Key Passages around the room. Call the teams back in. They must get a key passage and find the matching reference. If they do not get the matching reference, they must put the card back and keep searching. Once they have matched all the cards, the team with the most matches wins. 5

Circle Game: Divide into two teams. Have them sit in a circle with one person in the middle. Give each one a card with a word from a verse written on it. At the command go the first person will call out the word on his card. If the person in the middle can say the verse they get 10 points. If not, the next person says his word, if he guessed it then they get 20 points. Keep going in a circle until the person in the middle can say the entire verse. They get 10 points for every word they hear. The team with the most points LOSES! Bell Race: Divide into two teams. Place a bell in front of them about 10 feet away. Call out a Key Passage. The first member of the team runs to the front and rings the bell. The first one to ring the bell and call out the right Key Passage Reference wins. Write It: Divide into two teams. Give each team a marker for the whiteboard. Call out a verse. The first member of the team runs to the front and writes the reference wins the point. The team with the most points wins. Baseball: Divide into two teams. Call out a Key Passage. The first one to find it runs to first base. They stay up and the second member of the other team races against him. If he gets it first, he moves to second base. If not, he is out and the next team member steps up. Continue until they strike out 3 members of the other team. Bible Verse Tangle: Students sit in chairs or on the floor in a circle. Read the Bible memory passage several times with students. The first player holds the ball of yarn in one hand and the loose end firmly in the other hand. Then, while saying the first word of the passage, the player throws the ball of yarn across the circle to another child (while still holding loose end of yarn). The player who catches the ball says the next word while holding the yarn strand and throwing the ball to another student. Continue until the passage has been completed several times. Red/Yellow Squares: Give half the students a red square of paper and the other half of the students a yellow square of paper. Seat the students in a circle, mixing up the teams. At a given signal, have the students pass their square around the circle, until a stop signal is given. Students with yellow squares are titles, and students with red squares are references. Call on a student with a yellow square to name a title of a key passage. Then ask a student with a red square to give that title s reference. Begin passing process again, then vary up the order in which you call on student. Charades: Divide into two teams. Have them act out key passages (and verses). To get a point the team must be able to give the title (verse) and reference. 6

Golf Game: Divide into two teams. Set out the paper cups with the Key Passages on them. Give each team member a putter. You will call out a Key Passage and on the command go they must hit their golf ball into the correct cup. There is only one cup per reference. The first one to get the ball in, wins. Continue until everyone has had a chance to play. Frisbee Throw: Put 10 chairs out in front of the room. Label them with the Key Passages. Divide the class into 2 teams, the first member facing the chair. You will call out a Key Passage reference and at the command go the first team member will throw their Frisbee at the correct chair. If neither lands on the chair, the closest one gets the point. Continue until everyone has had a chance to play. Football: Divide into two teams. Use the football field and football provided. Read a reference verse to the first team. If they get it right, they move ahead 10 yards, if not the next team gets a new reference verse. Keep going until one team makes a touchdown. Bible Spoons: Have the students sit in a circle with one dealer of index cards. The students pass the card around the circle, looking at the card as they pass it around until it gets back to the dealer. On the command go they grab the spoons in the middle of the room. The one who does not get a spoon must recite the key passage. If he can t site the passage, he is out. Take out one more spoon, and deal a new key passage. Keep taking a spoon away after each turn. Polly Wanna Cracker: Divide into two teams. The first one on each team puts a cracker in their mouth WITHOUT swallowing. The teacher calls out a key passage reference. The student calls out a key passage reference. The students call out the key passage, if they get it right, they add another cracker. The teacher calls another key passage reference and they shout out the passage. They keep adding a cracker without swallowing until they miss or can t hold anymore crackers. If they don t get it right, the other team wins and the next person in line moves up. Centipede: Choose one child to be it. When someone is tagged, both students must say the verse and connect elbows. They are then both it as a unit. Whenever someone is tagged, the entire centipede must say the verse. When the fifth person is tagged, the centipede breaks up and the fifth person is it and the game starts over. Ping Pong Toss: Divide into two teams. Have the teacher call out a reference/verse. If the team member gets it right, he/she can toss the ping pong ball into the can. If he misses the verse, he can return to the end of the line. After 5-10 minutes, the team with the most ping pong ball wins the game. 7

Oatmeal Pie Frisbee: Children are paired off in groups of two. They will try to catch the Frisbee without using their hands. When they do this, they must say the key passage that corresponds with the reference. For each one they say correctly, they will receive 5 points. The team with the most points will win an oatmeal crème pie. Sticky Marshmallows: Divide into 2 teams. Give each team a bag of marshmallows and some sharpies. Have them write the words of the verse the teacher calls out on the marshmallows. One word at a time. Put a shower cap on one of the team members head. At the command go, the team must place in verse order the marshmallows on the team members head. The one to complete the verse first wins. Dizzy Verse: Divide into two groups. Have students form two straight lines. The first two from each group will place their foreheads on a baseball bat and spin around six times. Then they will race to the board and write the first word of the verse. The next student will follow. The first team to finish wins. *How fast can you? Using the stopwatch, you and your partner will time each other to see how fast each of you can accomplish the tasks listed on the paper. Write the names and times on the sheet. When you have finished all the tasks, leave the sheet on the table for the next pair. *Verse with motions For the given verse, create motions to help you remember the verse. *Write up! Using cards, write the Bible verses for this week on the card and place them in your pouch/book. Write the books of the Bible we are studying and place them on the key ring. *Eggs in a row Working in pairs, place the books of the Bible in the correct order in the carton. Allow them to time each other to see who can do it the fastest. *Tabletop Football Two people play this game. Play begins when one person places the football in the end zone closest to him and gently flicks the football onto the field. The person looks at the field to judge which line he is closest to. According to the number of that line, he says that many books of the Bible beginning with Genesis. If he gets it right, he can thump the ball again. According to the number of the line closest to the ball, he says that number of books of the Bible starting from where he left off. On his 3 rd time, he must thump the ball into the space called the end zone. (He gets 2 points.) Once he scores, his opponent must say all the books of the Law and History. Then the ball goes to the opponent. 8

*Deflated Balloon Game Have the students blow up the balloon to see the verse written on the balloon. Then deflate it and try to say the verse by memory. *Hot Potato Pass the paper bag filled with the Scripture references for last week and this week. Play music, when the music stops the person with the bag pulls out a reference and must recite the verse. Keep playing until everyone gets an opportunity to play. *Bubbles Have each student with one breath blow as many bubbles as they can. Then, the student has to say the key passage and other verses learned that day before the bubbles pop. *Wheel of Fortune Divide into 4 small groups. Give each student a spinner and a game board. Each student is assigned a color on the wheel. The first one spins whatever color it lands on, that person assigned that color, must write the first word of the verse. Continue until the entire verse is written. Complete with other groups in class. *Mystery Bag Grab a verse out of a bag and say the verse while doing the action on the back. *Gum Blow Give the first student a piece of gum. They have to chew the gum and draw a card. Then blow a bubble and say the verse they chose. If they get it right, they chew another piece and blow a bubble and choose another card. They continue doing this until they can no longer say a verse or blow a bubble. *Puzzle race At the command go the team empties the puzzle bag and forms the verse. The ones with the best times wins. *BINGO *Word Search: Word Search or Crossword puzzle. *Spin the Bottle: The first student spins the bottle.
