Our pre-match warmup was again performed well with the boys ready to go early.

4 Under 9 Blue Round 4 saw U9 Blue head on the road to play Angle Vale. After an early start, we were again blessed with strong numbers with only Kadin not available, our captain for the day was Cameron. Our pre-match warmup was again performed well with the boys ready to go early. Although winter is not yet here, we were met with cool conditions however the weather was considerably better than our last trip to Angle Vale where the oval was shrouded in fog and it rained for most of the game. The first quarter was a tight tussle with the ball moving around the ground however the scoring was considerably low for both teams and more like a soccer game. In the middle, Austyn, Sam and Cameron appeared to be everywhere covering a lot of ground. A highlight from the boys in the forward line was a number of strong tackles from Brandon and Jackson to keep the ball in the area. Whilst in defence, Jayden and Lochy created plenty of run with a number of strong movements. The siren sounded to end a very tight quarter. The break gave all involved an opportunity to grab a quick drink and complete the rotations. As the quarter commenced Angle Vale seemed to come out running and were able to win a number of possessions and move the ball forward, in defence a highlight was from Brady who after resting in the first quarter came out and applied considerable pressure to the Angle Vale forwards ensuring that they didn t get any easy processions. In the middle, Jamison was able to lay a solid tackle and was awarded a free kick. Also, in the middle after a rest Blake seemed to be involved in a number of plays whilst our captain for the day, Cameron continued on from the first quarter. In the forward line, Jackson, Patrick and Ryan all played great team footy and as a team we were unlucky not to score more. After another tough quarter, the boys came together for the half time break. The third quarter commenced with a series of strong play from the boys in the middle with Jayden, Lochy and Harry all heavily involved. In the forward lines, Blake was rather unlucky not to score a goal early in the quarter. Also in the forward lines, Austyn won a great hard ball and Jamison was unlucky not to be rewarded after a solid tackle. Down the other end of the oval in defence, Louis and Ryan were involved in some great footy which saw us be able save certain goals and move the ball forward. The final quarter commenced with a strong tap from Jacob to Harry. Fellow midfield partners Patrick and Brady were busy. In the forward line Cameron was able to continue his strong form and finished kicking a great goal whilst the boys in defence played very tight footy which made scoring for Angle Vale quite difficult. The final siren sounded and we congratulated the other team for a great game and then song the club song. In a very low scoring game we played some great team footy and it is very pleasing to see the boys continue to build on their skills. Lastly, I would again like thank all that assisted with the game in particular Daniel, Scott and Mark who again greatly assisted with marshalling and motivating the boys. Round 5 will see us return to Harpers Field to play Walkerville. GO BURRAS! Under 12 White We celebrated Alex Pengilly's 50th Club game this week. The challenge was put to the team to approach the game with the right attitude to come away with a win for the milestone game. Alex starting in Ruck got the team going early. He laid the best tackle I have seen in any football for a long time, setting the tone for the rest of the boys. We battled well eventually stamping our authority on the game. The boys carried on playing good hard, team footy. Lochlan Hardie timed a perfect run to hit a contest in the goal square and collect the ball of the pack to score a nice goal. It's been great to see so far this year many of the boys stepping up their game and improving so much, Owen Gwilt, Jake Scurrell, Brody Feltrin, Daniell Cowie and Caleb Davey who also managed to kick his first goal in footy, well done Caleb.

5 We had Brodie Leisavnieks join us this week playing his first game for the year, a really good effort first up. It is pleasing to see our new players to the team, Blake Schembri, Kyan Varesanovic, Joel Porteous-Hurst and Robert Short contributing and getting more comfortable each week. After a few days with illness Jai Calllaghan was able to get himself in the game at various stages. Once again real solid contributions by Nicholas Tarca, Darcy Kelly, Mitchell Callaghan, Daniel Chisholm, Liam Cattuzzo, Brayden Barnes, Zachery Pope, William Jones. The team played really well and were able to get the win for Alex. Golden Grove to Salisbury North Goal kickers: Caleb Dav ey 1, Darcy Kelly 2.3, Alex Pengilly 2, Loc hlan Hardie 1, Mitchell Callaghan 1.1 and Brayden Barnes 1. Good win today boys, however a big challenge awaits next week against Ingle Farm at home. Let's have a really good two nights of training and get ready for that challenge. Go Burras!! Under 12 Red This week we played Walkerville at Walkerville and we were celebrating Jakson Ray's 100th game for the mighty Kookaburras! Jakson was Captain with Daniel Hewitt as Vice-Captain the boys won the toss and we were straight into the match. The first quarter started poorly as Walkerville ran away with to 3 goal 1 point led, the boys looked tired from watching the Royal Wedding late the night before. Although we had started poorly we always thought we could get back into the match and in the second quarter we started playing better footy and managed to keep Walkerville down to 1 goal 1 point, but we were struggling to score. It was not our usual effort we have been used to seeing on the footy field, as we struggled to stay in front of our opponents and credit to Walkerville they were playing very well. The Third quarter saw some much better movement of the football and our tackling had returned which we were able to get an excellent goal through some nice ball movement from Sam Rudd down to Tyson Hartmann who finished the goal. However, even the slight improvement in our game did not see us win the quarter with the scores Walkerville 6 goals 3 points to Golden Grove 1 Goal. The fourth quarter continued to be a much better effort with the ball in our possession most of the quarter and with some outstanding defense from Talan Cooper really showed some good fight, of which no teams scored. Overall it was a disappointing match, but it was great to see that we never gave up and improved during the game. Best players on the day included Talan Cooper, Lachlan Giles, Tyson Durdin, Zac Bartlet, Kalan Weaving and Daniel Hewitt. Final Scores: Golden Grov e def by Walkerville

Under 14 Girls Green This game was always going to be tough. Tea Tree Gully was an unknown but we had heard their centre rucks and rovers were good.

In some pretty ordinary conditions the girls had a slow start. Tea Tree Gully got off to a quick start. Our girls looked flat and were struggling to get forward momentum.

$Mikayla was taken out with a big accidental elbow to the jaw and taken to hospital (she is ok with no broken or suspected fractures but will most likely be out for a week).$ We asked the girls to build on a Tea Tree Gully lead one goal at a time. The fourth quarter needed to be a premiership quarter to win the match.

The night was wet and rainy (sounds like a bed time story) and we are sure some of the parents would have rather been at home keeping warm! Tea Tree Gully had strong overhead marks and were energised with the first scores of the match. The girls all struggled in the first half but got their mojo back in the second half. The girls needed to step up and that s what they did. We asked the girls to build on a Tea Tree Gully lead one goal at a time. The fourth quarter needed to be a premiership quarter to win the match. We needed a couple of goals to secure the win. The first goal scored lifted the team to where we needed to be and our momentum couldn t be stopped. Tea Tree Gully couldn t keep up with our fitness and we managed to bust open the game with a come from behind win. These types of matches can be used to inspire the team when they are behind. Something to draw on, to reignite motivation, in the face of adversity. We are so proud of the team but for Dean and Keith it is what they call heart attack footy. We thought we were gone and to the team s credit they pulled together to get over the line again. Outstanding win in very tough ordinary conditions. The girls fought hard and wanted to win not only for themselves but for their captain and team mate Mikayla. The final score being to Major Sponsors
