The Field is located south from Arlon (Belgium) in the military domain of camp Lagland. Former is situated at la route de Virton. There will be signs from the exit 31 of the E411 to the camp. Historical context After le sac de Liège, an artillery squad from Liège searched shelter in the forest. Alone and hunted by the Burgundian army which is surrounding the forest, they ll have to stay hidden so that they won t be captured by the enemy. Friday night A troop of soldiers leaves to patrol in the forest. They will of course hide and sleep in the forest. The participants will have to take into account the equipment they ll be transporting. They will among others have to manage their supplies like food and water. Practical Information: The price will be 25 per member of a company. Children till the age of 12 do not pay anything. The payment will conclude your registration. As soon as your registration is approved, you receive a confirmation per . Please fully register your company before the 15 th April, so that we won t have to deal with money on the spot. Each payment made on the spot will be increased by 15. Location Your location will be specified after your registration confirmation, depending of the fraction you will be attributed.
Costume and equipment We only accept serious groups, who re-enact the years from 1300 to Our goal is to re-enact a 14 to 15 th camp with its many facets. We aspire the time of a weekend to a total immersion in the Middle Ages. Shooting The property owner has not decided yet. We will notify you as soon as we know. Condition to participate Every participant has the responsibility for his costumes, equipment and attitude of his guests. Minors Minors are the responsibility of their parents or the group they depend on. Children aged 13 to 17 may take part in the military activities only if they are archers, banner bearers, water carriers or drummers. Public No public is allowed. Registration form The registration form can be found at the end of this document and is very important. Don t forget to complete it and send it back per . Insurance Every participant is responsible for the damages he causes. Parents are responsible for their children. Animal owners are responsible for their animals and we ask them to keep their animals tied. La Verte Tente has an organization insurance. First aid Every company has to take its own first aid measurements. In case of a bigger accident, the organization will perform support and the injured person will be transported to the hospital in Arlon (10 minutes away with the car). Car parking A parking card that you can find at the end of the document has to be completed by each car owner and is to be placed clearly visible on the car dashboard. It is essential not being in breach of the military rules. If not your vehicle will be taken away by the military security personnel. Be careful that la Verte Tente organization will not be able to contest any security measure!
Toilets Several modern toilets will be at disposal. If you can not access the toilets, please respect others and do not urinate near the camp. To our friends smokers We ask you to not smoke in sigh. Be very discreet. Don t forget to pick up your butts and be careful if the weather is dry and warm: accidents quickly happen. Cell phones Please keep your cell phones turned off or leave them in your car. Photos Only discreet cameras will be allowed. Please don t bring big cameras or camera helmets with you. Keep in mind there will be photographers at the camp. Wood and straw Wood and straw will be at disposal for the village needs, don t waste them. The straw will be at the entrance of the camp. We ask you to empty your straw mattress into the bucket of the tractor at your departure. Water There will be water at your disposal for your needs, don t waste it even if there will be more than enough. Waste disposal Every company will be responsible of their waste, leave the field clean when you leave. At your arrival, we will hand your blue waste bags (only to be used for plastic, metal and juice cartons). Even food waste will not be tolerated on the field. Dogs and other animals They are welcome if tied. The owners will pay attention that the animals needs are done far away from the camp. If you think your companion will not tolerate to be tied during the whole week-end, please don t take it with you. Usefull contacts People who are responsible this time are: Geoffrey Stas (locations manager) Cédric Gillet (logistics manager) Clothing and personal belongings Here is a non-exhaustive list of things to whom wants to take part in the event. Your clothing should be European cloths from the second half of the 15 th c. Keep in mind that the camp will take place in April, the weather will most likely be cloudy, cold and wet.
For all: - a leather belt, - a pouch bag, - cutlery (spoon, knife, plate, etc. ), - a linen pilgrim s bag, - leather shoes, - a woolen hood, - a woolen gown. For women: - a linen under-dress, - a woolen gown, - hose, - linen headwear. For men: - linen underwear, - close fitting woolen hose, - woolen doublet, - headwear, - a dagger. Camp: Authenticity should be the concern of everyone! Be particularly attentive if you join in the mid-week-end, make sure to change clothes before coming in the camp site. Remember we reenact a medieval camp. Hide what is not medieval! Respect others by letting them plunging themselves in their passion. By the way, do respect your passion! Campfires Please, do respect the place. Before preparing your campfire, take off 10cm of earth. At the end of the camp, we ask you to properly put it back in its place and remove waste. We ask each company to have at least one fire extinguisher within easy reach (only the main camp, not for the itinerary camps).
Military activities and skirmishes All arms used in combat must be in good condition and must be meant for that purpose. Sharp weapons may not be used. Pointed or damaged weapons are forbidden. Take care of your weapons, take off the mud and avoid planting them in the ground. We are waiting for the property owner s decision about the shooting or not. Arrows or bolts must be blunted to fight. No direct close rang shot. By the historical context, wearing a full armour is forbidden. In the facts we are escaping with only some equipment. It is not a question of going to war but escaping and living for a while in the forest. Men should be allowed to wear only pieces of armor (i.e. brigandine, helmet, ). Be careful that wearing a helmet is compulsory as well as wearing adequate protections while training with bladed weapons. Each company s captain is personally responsible for his troop. We mean that he correctly and sufficiently trains them to be able to take part in some battles (no real battles of course) with bladed weapons. No one under the influence of alcohol, drugs, any mind-altering substance will be allowed to take part in the battles. Every person which is touched should stay for a while on the ground or pretend to be seriously wounded. Let s play the game! If you have been touched several times and therefore be dead, you should stop fighting. Referees will ensure that you play the game. No attack on the head! Please hold back when you fight. In touch with another, point your Hast weapons at the ground. A fighter may not engage the fight with a civilian or a non-protected person. Keep an eye on our Facebook page. If you have any question, please contact us via geoffreystas@gmail.com. Les compagnons de la Verte Tente.
