1 LANCO Fieldhouse 1901 Miller Road East Petersburg, PA LEARN TO PLAY LIKE A PRO
2 YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS THE ROSSI SOCCER ACADEMY aims to provide you with the training and coaching that will not only build your self-confidence and improve your level of play, but also ensure that you enjoy playing the world s greatest game. As Coach Rossi says, When I see a smile on your face, a soccer ball at your feet and a little sweat on your forehead, this tells me you re working hard to achieve excellence...and having fun while you do it! Based at the Lanco Fieldhouse in East Petersburg, the Academy offers courses of instruction for boys and girls from the earliest ages right on up to the high school varsity level and includes all phases of the game and positions on the field. At the Rossi Soccer Academy, you ll learn the skills, techniques and strategies that will make you a better player and a more valuable member of your team. MEET COACH GARY ROSS. Known to the many players he has coached simply as Rossi, Gary Ross began his soccer career in England as a member of the Nottingham Forest Football Club s youth team and the England Schoolboys U18 National Team. As a student at Lock Haven University, Rossi was twice a First Team All-American and the university s third all-time goal scorer. From college, he went on to play for such NPSL teams as Harrisburg Heat, the Baltimore Spirit and the Philadelphia KIXX. He also played with the Delaware Wizards for two seasons in the US Soccer League. As head coach of the Lancaster Catholic HS soccer program, he was twice named the Lancaster- Lebanon League s Coach of the Year. Rossi holds a USSF National A coaching license and NSCAA Advanced National Diploma. SOCCER TYKES (BOYS AND GIRLS, AGES 3-4) One of our most popular programs, Soccer Tykes is designed with lots of creatively challenging games and activities to bring out the best in your child. The little ones will run through tunnels and over gator pits on their way to scoring lots of goals. And Coach Rossi is a master with kids. Animal games, fruit games, rewards at the end of each class, it s truly a fun environment as well as a positive learning experience. Length: One hour per week for seven weeks. SOCCER KIDS (BOYS AND GIRLS, AGES 4-6) A step up from the Tykes class, here boys and girls learn how to dribble and control a ball like a soccer player. Plenty of goals will be scored as students now attempt to score on a goalkeeper. They even participate in their own World Cup and are introduced to playing real soccer. As always, Coach Rossi provides an exciting mixture of fun and learning that makes kids feel great about themselves. Length: One hour per week for seven weeks. INDIVIDUAL TRAINING This personalized instruction is for players of any age, as well as for coaches, and focuses on the individual s unique needs and goals. In a one-on-one environment, Coach Rossi will focus on what you want to learn and take you to new levels in that area of the game. Dates and times by appointment. SMALL GROUP TRAINING Based on what the group is looking to accomplish, Coach Rossi will work with you on how to deal with pressure situations. Students will be put through drills that are both fun and demanding in order to improve their overall skills and take their game to a higher level. Minimum of 5, maximum of 8 players. Dates and times by appointment. TEAM TRAINING Rossi will personally attend your team s practice session or you can schedule a team summer camp. Workouts will cover anything your coach feels the team needs to work on, including devising a game plan, scoring drills, passing games, possession and combination plays. Coaches will receive written materials on the skills and drills the team has been taught. Minimum of 12, maximum of 18 players. Dates and times by appointment.
3 WINTER PROGRAMS SUMMER PROGRAMS SOCCER KIDS (BOYS AND GIRLS, AGES 4-6) Additional sessions of this popular year-round class is offered over the winter. This class is conducted on Friday afternoons during the winter months. Length: One hour per week for six weeks. SOCCER BASICS (BOYS AND GIRLS, AGES 6-8) This class is designed to help students become familiar with the game of soccer in general, its rule of play and the skills required. Coach Rossi will referee instructional scrimmages, and students will learn how to take throw-ins, goals kicks, free kicks, penalty kicks and much more. Students will also receive instruction in basic passing, turning, running with the ball and scoring goals. Length: One hour per week for six weeks. SOCCER SKILLS (BOYS AND GIRLS, AGES 7-16) A more advanced curriculum for player development, this class teaches students how to master the ball and become more comfortable in pressure situations. Players will perfect their moves and fakes through fast footwork exercises and improve their balance and ball control through juggling. The class will be fun, but you ll also find it demanding with speed, agility and circuit training to help build your muscles and increase your explosiveness on the field. It s training you can take with you and master at home. Limit: 12 students per class. Length: Two one-hour sessions per week for one month. HIGH SCHOOL BOYS FITNESS TRAINING ACADEMY (GRADES 7-12) This is a combination of functional, technical and tactical training on the soccer field. Because it incorporates training to build endurance, strength, speed and agility, you may find the class to be very demanding as it pushes you to the limit. But for the same reasons, you may also find it very rewarding. Length: One hour session per week for six weeks. ROSSI COACHED MY SON FROM THE BEGINNING WHEN THEY WERE JUGGLING WITH BALLOONS. MY SON IS NOW A HIGH SCHOOL FRESHMAN AND IS A STARTER ON THE VARSITY TEAM. ROSSI CONTINUES TO COACH MY SON WHO HE BELIEVES HAS A VERY GOOD CHANCE TO PLAY IN COLLEGE ON SCHOLARSHIP. - MR. JOHN HAVRILLA MONDAY NIGHT SOCCER SKILLS CLINIC The Boys Monday Night Soccer and Girls Monday Night Soccer classes are specifically designed to cover all the areas you need to work on in order to improve. Every week for ten weeks a different theme will be emphasized, like defending and containing, creating scoring opportunities, dribbling and ball control, and lots more. You ll look forward to Mondays all summer long! Length: Ten weeks. FRIDAY NIGHT SOCCER DEFENDING CLINIC This class, which meets one night a week for ten weeks, teaches you how to defend in all kinds of game situations. You ll learn how to contain offensive pressure and slow down attacking players. A great way to polish your defensive skills and take your play to the next level. Length: One evening per week for ten weeks. FRIDAY NIGHT SOCCER ATTACKING CLINIC This class is the complement to our Defending Clinic. It s all about shooting and consistently hitting your target with accuracy and power. You ll learn the tricks of where to shoot the ball and how to create scoring opportunities. The class meets one evening a week for ten weeks. SOCCER MORNINGS (BOYS AND GIRLS, AGES 12-16) Advanced and high level players will see their game improve in all areas during these two-hour, twice-weekly sessions. Each week will focus on a different theme, such as one-touch ball control, attacking under pressure and techniques of possession. For serious soccer players, this is the kind of rigorous, intense training that will kick your game up several notches. Length: Tuesdays and Thursdays for ten weeks. "ROSSI HAS A GIFT TO TEACH THE GAME. HIS KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY TO INSTRUCT ALLOWS HIS PLAYERS TO BE COMPETITIVE AT THE TRAVEL, STATE, REGIONAL, AND NATIONAL LEVELS." - DEBRA MILLER
4 SUMMER PROGRAMS KICK START CAMP (BOYS AND GIRLS, AGES 4-9) Whether you re new to the game or an experienced player, you ll enjoy the many activities, games and drills designed to cover the basics and improve your overall soccer knowledge. But most important, you ll have loads of fun (prizes, too!) in a warm and friendly camp environment. Length: Five days. PLAYER DEVELOPMENT CAMP (BOYS AND GIRLS, AGES 10-14) This five-day camp is designed for those who are currently playing at the premier, travel or intramural level. Players are divided into groups according to age and skill level. The main emphasis is on skill development, including mastering the ball, moves and fakes, passing combinations and finishing in the offensive third. If you enjoy a challenge and are ready to take your game to a higher level, this is the camp for you. WORLD CUP CAMP (BOYS AND GIRLS, AGES 10-14) Designed for advanced and premier players only, this camp will be instructed by professional coaches from around the world. The sessions are all highly competitive and intended not only to maximize your overall soccer skills, but to build team spirit and good sportsmanship, too. Length: Five afternoons. BOYS HIGH SCHOOL PRE-SEA SON CAMP ( GRADES 7-12) This two-week camp is intended to get you in top shape for the upcoming soccer season. You can attend either week or, to ensure maximum fitness, both weeks. The physical training is demanding, but always in a relaxed atmosphere. And the soccer training is all finishing and game situations. You push yourself to the limit, but you ll be prepared for the best soccer season of your life.
