With a smaller ball and shorter basket, your hoopster will have a blast! Depending on number of participants age groups may combine. If combined, the program will run at 9am. Grade Code 1 $27R/$39NR Dec 28 $34R/$46NR Jan $27R/$39NR Dec 28 $34R/$46NR Jan Youth Basketball: Preseason Shooters Saturdays, October 13-November 17 Grade 3-4 Boys & Girls - 2:30-3:55pm Grade 5-6 Boys & Girls - 4-5:30pm Grades 3-6 Keep your skills sharp and get an early start on the basketball season by learning the fundamentals, including dribbling, passing, defense, and shooting. Each session has 45 minutes of instruction followed by scrimmages. FREE! Elks National Hoop Shoot Saturday, December 15 Registration begins at 1:30pm; Contest begins at 2pm Ages 8-13 The Elks National Hoop Shoot is a free throw contest for youth ages Whoever makes the most baskets out of 25-attempts wins. The age groups are 8-9, and with separate divisions for boys and girls. Sign in/day of contest registration will begin at 1:30 with the contest starting promptly at 2pm. The six champions will advance to district competition, with the opportunity to advance to state, regional and national competitions. One boy and one girl from each age division will win a national title at the Finals and have their names inscribed in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Registration is accepted in person on the day of the contest. Pre-registration is available through Urbana Park District through December 13. 2 Fall Outdoor Youth Soccer Practices: MW or TuTh, Starting August 20, 5:30-6:30pm, Various Urbana Schools & Parks Games: Saturdays, September 8-October 20 Ages 7-14 Learn rules, soccer skills, and the value of teamwork and sportsmanship in a fun environment. Then play games on Saturdays. All teams are coached by volunteer coaches. U12 Boys, U14 Boys, and U14 Girls leagues combine with the Champaign Park District, and will play most games at Brookens or Dodds Soccer Complex in Champaign. Sign up for your first choice of practice site. Depending upon enrollment, teams may be combined and you may not receive your first choice. If you are switched to a different location, you will be contacted by the park district. Team groupings are switching this season to the standard U system. This is a designation common in other soccer leagues and matches the Champaign Park District. Every child must wear an Urbana Park District reversible jersey (blue and gold) for games. The rules, field, and ball are modified to meet kindergarteners size and abilities. Everyone gets a T-shirt and everyone participates. All coaches are volunteers. You may be asked to bring snacks to practices and games. Practice days and site are assigned on a first come-first serve basis. Games rotate among all practice locations/practice days. Volunteer Coaches Needed Adult volunteers coach our youth sports programs such as T-Ball, basketball, and soccer. Without out our volunteer coaches, we do not have leaders for your child s team. As a volunteer, you will spend 3-4 total hours per week leading practices through drills and skill building exercises and coaching games that you go to already. Training resources are provided for each sport including discussions on skills, strategies, and policies. We can even match you with another parents and you can co-coach. Parents interested in helping should call , or fill out a Volunteer Application online at Volunteer as head coach for your child s team and receive a refund for your child s fee once the season is complete. 3 Co-Recerational Indoor Soccer Saturdays, October 20-December 1: Grades 1-6 Wednesdays, October 24-December 5: Grades 7-12 Catch up or keep up with the fundamentals. Kids learn skills through drills and play cross-court or full-court with indoor balls and goals. New and returning players can benefit from this program as they sharpen their skills and work as a team. Meet at Brookens Gym. Classes may be condensed and times are subject to change depending upon enrollment. Jerseys: This program uses the blue and gold jerseys from the outdoor soccer program. If your child has outgrown his or her jersey or has not participated before, you can purchase one at the Phillips Recreation Center for $16. Teams are guaranteed one practice per week. For Junior Boys and Junior Girls, please sign up for your first choice of practice site. Depending upon enrollment, teams may be combined. For all other levels, practice site is determined after assessment. A coach will contact you to let you know your team and first practice time. Practice begins the week of January 21. 4 Fall Co-Recreational Kickball Thursdays, beginning August 30, 6:15-10:15pm Canaday/Prairie Softball Field Age 15 and Up Continue your summer kickball fun into the fall. Get a team of at least 4 men and 4 women together for a six-game roundrobin schedule, followed by a season-ending single elimination tournament. Teams must submit a completed roster and full payment with registration. There is no online registration for this league. Please register for this activity in person or at Mandatory Managers Meeting: Thursday, August 23, 6pm at. Code $120/team + $10/NR Aug 16 $144/team + $10/NR Aug Co-Recreational Volleyball League Mondays, September 10-December 3, 6-10pm Age 15 and Up Set and spike your way to victory! Get your team together for a 10-game round robin regular season. The winning team will get a League Champion t-shirt and bragging rights. Games are played Monday evenings starting at 6pm. The season will end November 24 pending the number of teams. If we have an odd number of teams the season may be extended to get every team their allotted 10 games prior to the tournament. The season ends with a single elimination, first-round consolation tournament. Teams must submit a completed roster and full payment with registration. There is no online registration for this league. Please register for this activity in person or at Mandatory Managers Meeting: Wednesday, September 5, 6pm. 5 Open Gym Open Gym Volleyball Open Gym Pickleball Fridays, September 7-May 3, 5:30-8:30pm, $1/person at the door Age 15 and Up Tuesdays & Thursdays, September 11-December 20, 9-11am, $1/person at the door Bring your enthusiasm and equipment to on Friday evenings for some volleyball action! Practice for your upcoming game with your team, or just come out solo and join others who love volleyball in a casual atmosphere. Open gym may be canceled occasionally for special events. When Open Gym will be canceled, signs will be posted on the park district website and at Brookens Gym no less than one week prior to the cancellation. No open gym November 23, December 21, and December 28. Pickleball is a fun, fast-paced sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. Anyone over age 15 can play. Don t know how to play Pickleball? Come on out anyway and learn a fun, new game! Open gyms may be canceled occasionally for activities. Notices will be on the Athletics page at urbanaparks.org, and signs will be posted at no less than one week prior to cancellation. No Open Gym November 22. Open Gym Basketball Sundays, October 7-April 28 Ages 5-14: 1-3pm Age 15 and Up: 3-5pm, $1/person at the door is open Sunday afternoons for open gym basketball. Parents are welcome to attend the youth session. Children under 11 must be accompanied by someone 15 or older. Bring a photo ID. All Urbana Park District rules and regulations must be followed. See page 35 for participant behavior code. Open gym may be canceled on occasion for special events. When Open Gym will be canceled, signs will be posted at no less than one week prior to the cancellation. No open gym November 25, December 23, December 30, and April 21.

6 Urbana Park District Adult Sports Code of Conduct Participants are expected to follow all Urbana Park District rules, regulations, and this code of conduct. The following code of conduct has been developed to ensure that all participants exhibit appropriate behavior at all times. All athletic programs are intended to provide a safe and fun recreational environment for the participants. 1. All teams and individuals must show respect to other participants, officials and staff members; including volunteers. Respect all the equipment and the facilities/fields. 2. Follow all Urbana Park District program rules and regulations. 3. The use of abusive or foul language is not permitted. 4. Any unnecessary physical contact towards another player, staff, coach, official, or spectator is not allowed. This also includes verbal threats/abuse. 5. Participants should refrain from participation in unlawful activities. The Urbana Park District reserves the right to suspend or remove a participant or team from a program for a violation of the code of conduct and no refunds will be given.
