2 WELCOME On behalf of the Sydney University Football Club (SUFC), I would like to welcome you all to the start of the 2015 season. In 2014, the Club won its 11th consecutive Club Championship and 10th consecutive Colts Club Championship. Adding the list of achievements, the club also won a number of trophies within the 1st Grade competition, including the David Brockhoff Cup, Cutler / Tooth Trophy, White Ribbon Cup and John Thornton Cup. Each year the club continues in its fine tradition of providing the game of rugby with exceptional representative players. Last season 13 players were named in the Wallabies, including Peter Betham, Luke Burgess, Sam Carter, Nathan Charles, Tom English, Israel Folau, Bernard Foley, Tolu Latu, Ben McCalman, Nick Phipps, Paddy Ryan, Will Skelton and Laurie Weeks. Four players from the club were also selected to play in the Australian U20s team in a tournament in New Zealand against Samoa, Argentina, England and Italy, including Angus Pulver, Tomas Robertson, Matthew Sandell and Johnny Vaux. The club was also represented around Australia in all but one of Super Rugby franchises by 24 players. At SUFC, we see this as a mark of our success as a club and are proud to watch them develop into even better rugby players. In 2014 the ARU launched the Buildcorp National Rugby Championship (NRC) which ran at the end of the Super and Club rugby seasons. As part of the Sydney Stars SUFC was able to give many of its players the opportunity to play in this next level of competition. SUFC see the Buildcorp NRC as a great pathway for our players to reach higher honours. On the back of the competition SUFC had new representatives training with three of the Super franchises; James Dargaville with the Brumbies, Sam Talakai at the Reds and Henry Clunies-Ross and Jim Stewart at the Waratahs will be a big year for rugby the Shute Shield, Super Rugby and the Rugby World Cup in London. With this in mind I see no better time than now to become a member of our great club. Being a member of our club not only provides you with a number of unique benefits, but you also become a special part of the SUFC family. The support of our members on match days, at events and financially is critical to our success on and off the field.
