Female: The proportional lengths of the cephalothorax and the abdomen are as 47.5 to 12, the length of the abdomen is thus contained 3.95 times in that of the anterior part of the body. The prosome and1st pedigerous segment are partly fused, on the dorsal surface and a line of separation is distinctly visible. The 4 th and 5 th pedigerous segment are separated, the lateral thoracic margin is rounded in lateral aspect and not produced. The frontal part of the head is rounded and has two slender rostral filaments. The abdomen in this stage consists of 4 free segments and the furca. There is no trace of a genital swelling on the 1 st abdominal segment. The 1 st antenna has 24 free joints, the 8 th and 9 th joints are completely fused. It reaches beyond the tip of the furca by the last 5-6 joints. The mouth parts and the 2 nd antenna are very little different from those of the adult female. The 2 nd maxilla shows a distinct knob on the external margin of the 1 st basal joint, which is a specific character, distinguishing Neocalanus robustior in this stage from N. gracilis. Sex attributes: Descriptive characters:

22 Meristic characteristics: Feeding habit: Main food : Feeding type : Additional remarks: It appears that the present specimens are referable to M.tenuicornis because of the lack of an elevated postero-dorsal marginof the head, metasome width / length greater than or equal or equal to 0.30, and the length of 2 relative to urosome segment 3 is not as great as Male leg 5 exopod segment 3 terminal spine appears to be slightly longer than its segmentmeasured along the outer border. Although Mullin (1969) records an intermediate form from the southern hemisphere the present specimens do not appear to have characteristics of this form. This intermediate form might be designated M.lighti on morphometric grounds except that it lacks the dorsal hump, has the opaque appearance more characteristic of M. tenuicornis, and the male is larger relative to the female than is the case in either M.lighti or M. tenuicornis (Mullin 1969).
