Wow can you believe 2017 is around the corner! We have so much happening right now with the New Year's Party and January meeting, Captains meeting and fishing tournaments. I want to thank all that made the Christmas Boat Parade a huge success, especially chairperson, Ted Fischer. Results can be found on our website. Keycolonyfishing.com. Those going to the New Year's eve party at City Hall, we will be setting up at 3 o'clock. Come and help and this will give you a chance to reserve your table. Cleanup will be the next morning at 10 o'clock. Captains meeting for the clambake will be January 10, 4 PM City Hall. Hope all captains are setting up their teams, getting the T-shirt sizes and appointing an assistant. Ralph Girkins will be Chairperson for the silent auction. Please him with donations for this event as this is one of our best fundraisers. ralph@utube.com Tickets for the Clambake will be $30 for members and $40 for guest. Yes, we had to put state taxes on it! Tickets will be available at the February meeting. Clambake date is February 20, Presidents' Day. Member gifts this year will be a gift certificates of $30 to one of the following, Havana Jacks, Sparky s, Key Colony Inn, Captain Hooks and Frank's Grill. Our next monthly meeting will be January 6, and will be catered by Havana Jacks. Wishing all a safe and HAPPY NEW YEAR! 2 Membership Mumbles Again, we wish to remind members that 2017 dues must be paid by January's meeting. If not paid, we will assume that you no longer wish to maintain your membership. On a separate note, TeamTeke is collecting the fish for the Clambake fish fry. You may deliver them to our home at th St. in KCB. Phone If we are not home there is always a cooler in the back of our home next to the ice machine. Just place them in the cooler and add a little ice for safe keeping. Please list your name on the bag for reference. Minutes From Last Meeting DECEMBER 2, 2016 MINUTES The December meeting of the Fishing & Boating Club was called to order on December 2, 2016 at 6:30 P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance. Commodore Tom Alferes then stated the purpose of the Club which is to promote fishing, boating and good fellowship among all members. The minutes of the November 4th meeting were accepted on a motion by Phil Flagg which was seconded by Ralph Girkins and passed by the members. Tom thanked Sam Zaydon for giving the awesome seminar this evening before the meeting. Tonight s dinner is provided by Steve and Marie Flood. Sandy Bachman made the salad. Cynthia Catto provided the dessert. Thanks to all of them. I would also like to thank Joey and Karen Raspe for bartending; Ron and Kitty Sutton for handling the sale of the 50/50 tickets; Anita Alferes and Barbara Driscoll for handling the check in process; and all the people who help set up, serve dinner, tear down and clean up. Also thanks to Flo Herberholz for organizing the dinners and Gail Cortelyou for editing and publishing our Newsletter. At the side table Flo Roseboro and Joe Schmidt are selling tickets for our New Year s Eve Party. The Lighthouse Grill will cater the event this year. Music is again by the Rick and Dayna Band. Treasurer Chick Lees delivered the November Treasurer s Report. As of October 31, 2016 the account balance was $ Accounting for deposits of $6, and expenses of $1,432.76, the new balance as of November 30, 2016 was $5, The Club is now up to date with the state concerning the sales tax issue. A motion to accept the report was made by Ralph Girkins seconded by Joe Schmidt and passed by the members. Vice Commodore Bob Warn informed everyone that the Little Palm Island Brunch will take place next year on March 11th. The cost is $105. Please see Rene Warn at the side table to sign up and purchase your ticket. Membership Chairpersons Ron and Tania Teke reminded everyone that dues must be paid by the January meeting. The Club has a long waiting list. Dues for this season are $45. If you know someone who is interested in joining have them fill out and submit an application. Fundraising Chairman Joey Raspe asked members to check in with the Clam Bake captains to volunteer for the event. Tom Tucker will be holding a class for a concealed permit and will donate the money to the Club after expenses. It will be held at Marble Hall. Tournament Director John Fruhmorgen presented the prize money to the winning anglers. For a complete listing of the Tournament results including the name of each winning angler, species and weight of fish caught and amount of prize money, please visit the Club s website. Three winners donated their winnings back to the Club. Thank you. John notified the members that the Grouper tournament is taking place in December and is being sponsored by the Marathon Boat Yard and Marina. New Business: This year s Boat Parade will take place on Sunday December 11th. Ted Fischer is the chairman this year. So far we have nine boats signed up. However, we can always use more entries so please sign up. If you want to reserve a table for the New Year s Eve Party come to Marble Hall when we will be setting up the tables at 3:00. Remember that there is a Clam Bake Captains meeting on January 10th at 4:00 in City Hall. Tickets for the Clam Bake will be $30 for members and $40 for non-members. Contact Ralph Girkins if you have items for the Silent Auction. Ron and Tania Teke will be collecting fish for the Clambake. You can drop the fillets off at their house at th Street. Sue Redding of the Coast Guard Auxiliary informed the members that she had books available to instruct children on boat safety. See Sue if you would like to borrow them. Joe Schmidt reminded everyone that the blood mobile will be in KCB on January 11th. Please donate. A motion to adjourn was made by Flo Roseboro and seconded by Carole Fruhmorgen.
