1 Welcome to Fall Creek Falls State Park! Summer vacation time is here and what a great place to spend it! The park provides a wonderful opportunity to enjoy some hiking, picnicking, boating, swimming, and wildlife watching while taking in the beautiful scenery. Monday, July 16 th 8:00am Cave Tour Fall Creek Falls State Park is known for its beautiful waterfalls and overlooks but did you know we have caves too? Come explore Camp s Gulf Cave with Tanner as we discuss the underground secrets hiding in our park. Meet at the Park Headquarters and we will drive to the trailhead for the cave. Please wear appropriate shoes and bring an extra change of clothes and a flashlight. There is a fee of $10 and a limit of 14 participants for this tour. 9:00am 10:00am 1:00pm 1:30pm Beaver Lodge Hike Meet Courtney at the Picnic Shelter #1 (near the Nature Center) to carpool over to the beaver lodge trailhead. We will view and discuss beaver activity get up close to a beaver lodge. Folklore Meet Chris at the Rec. Hall to learn some folklore. Invasive Species Hike Come learn about invasive and non-native species and the effects they have on our parks. Meet Tanner at the Main Overlook at Fall Creek Falls as we hike to the base of the falls. Please wear appropriate hiking shoes and bring water. Birds of Prey Meet Courtney at the Liberty Hill School (Andy Field Picnic Area near the North Entrance) to learn about our local birds of prey and to meet our Red Tail Hawk, Delta! Nature Finger Painting Meet Chris at the Rec. Hall to create a painting inspired by nature. Pontoon Boat Tour Meet Courtney at the Boat Dock for a pontoon boat tour around the lake. Jenga Meet Chris at the Rec. Hall to play a round of Jenga. Tuesday, July 17 th 10:00am Map and Compass Basics Meet Holly at the Rec. Hall to learn the basics of using a compass and map.

Hike to the Base of Fall Creek Falls Meet Derek at the Main Overlook of Fall Creek Falls for a short but strenuous hike to the bottom of the falls. Along the way, we will discuss our park s forest ecology and geology. Paper Plate Owls Meet Holly at the Rec. Hall to create an owl using paper plates. We will also discuss some interesting owl facts while you exercise your creative skills. Wednesday, July 18 th 10:00am Corn Hole Tournament Meet Derek at the Rec. Hall to play a fun game of corn hole. 4:30pm Landscape Watercolors Meet Derek at the Rec. Hall to create your own landscape painting. Pontoon Boat Tour Meet Holly at the Boat Dock for a pontoon boat tour around the lake. Meet the Locals Meet Derek at the Rec. Hall to see the pelts and skulls of some of our native wildlife. Thursday, July 19 th 10:00am Sidewalk Chalk Meet Seth at the Rec. Hall to draw a chalk masterpiece on the sidewalk! Pond Hop Meet Chris at the Rec. Hall to play a fun aquatic ecology game. This program is for kids 15 years old and under. Pontoon Boat Tour Meet Courtney at the Boat Dock for a pontoon boat tour around the lake. Hike to Fall Creek Falls Overlook Meet Holly at Picnic Shelter #1 (near the Nature Center) for a 2-mile roundtrip hike to see Fall Creek Falls Overlook. Along the way, we will learn some park history and see some neat wildlife. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes and bring water!

Campfire Meet Chris at Picnic Shelter #3 (at the George Hole) to learn about fire building, park history, native wildlife, and more! Be sure to bring your roasting sticks and marshmallows. Friday, July 20 th 9:00am Buzzard s Roost Hike Meet Holly at the Main Overlook of Fall Creek Falls for an easy hike to Millikan s Overlook and Buzzard s Roost. Learn about native wildlife and geology while taking in the breathtaking views from some of the park s most popular overlooks. Wear sturdy shoes and bring plenty of water. 10:00am 11:00am 5:30pm Pine Cone Bird Feeders Meet Courtney at the Rec. Hall to learn how to make your own bird feeder out of pine cones. Piney Falls Ramble Meet Chris at the Piney Falls parking area for a hike to view Piney Falls and the suspension bridge over Piney Creek. We will also learn about some of the park s history. Butter Churning Meet Courtney at the Rec. Hall to learn how to make your own butter using mason jars. There is a limit of 12 and a fee of $5 per person. Register online by clicking the Upcoming Events tab on the Fall Creek Falls State Park webpage or visit the Park Headquarters for assistance. Kayaks are available first-come, first-serve. This program has a fee of $7 for kayak rental, payable at the Boat Dock.

5 Page 5 8:00pm Evening Nature Ramble Meet Matt at the Campers Check-In for a nature walk around the golf course. This is the peak time to see some of the park s nightlife like deer, raccoons, frogs, etc. If it s clear, we may look at a star or two as well. Saturday, July 21 st 9:00am Natural Bridge Adventure Meet Holly at Picnic Shelter #1 (near the Nature Center) for a short drive to the Wheeler Farm to view some spectacular geologic features. Please provide your own transportation. Carpooling is recommended. This will be a moderately strenuous 2-mile roundtrip hike to a natural bridge and shallow but beautiful waterfall. Wear sturdy shoes or boots and bring along some water. 10:00am 1:45pm 2:45pm 4:30pm Park History Join Derek at the Rec. Hall to learn how Fall Creek Falls State Park got its start. Birds of Prey Meet Holly at the Liberty Hill School (Andy Field Picnic Area near the North Entrance) to learn about our local birds of prey and to meet our Red Tail Hawk, Delta! Tie-Dye Meet the Friends of Fall Creek Falls at the Rec. Hall to brighten up your wardrobe! There will be a fee of $2 per person/per item or you can purchase a white shirt for $5 or a printed Fall Creek Falls shirt for $10 from the Friends. Cash or credit card will be accepted. Birding Basics Meet Courtney at the Main Overlook of Fall Creek Falls to learning the basics of birding. Ping-Pong Tournament Meet Derek at the Rec. Hall to try your hand at a game of ping-pong. 7:30pm Live Musical Entertainment Meet at the Amphitheater by the pool for an evening filled with musical entertainment provided by Fredonia Bluegrass. Donations will be collected by the band. Suggested donation is $3 per person. In the event of rain, meet at the Rec. Hall.

Cool Nature Fact Did you know skunks have excellent smelling and hearing but rather poor vision? While they can see up close, objects about 10 feet away start going fuzzy for these animals. Skunks are omnivores and opportunists. They will eat whatever they find or can catch, including bees, wasps, and even the occasional yummy treat from an unsuspecting camper, like Chris Marshmallow Castles from last week!
