2 ABOUT HEATHER FISHERIES Mark Simmonds is the sole proprietor of Heather Fisheries with 33 years experience in fish farming and management of specialist carp fisheries and commercial coarse fisheries. The fish Heather Fisheries supply are all top quality young healthy unfished for stock from fish farm sites in Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset and I pride myself in the belief that the fish supplied by me are of the highest quality and will give my customers years of tremendous value. THE STRAIN The carp supplied by Heather Fisheries are Fishers Pond strain supplied by John Paton of Fishers Pond Fishery at various stages of their lives. The strain is without doubt the most recognised fastest growing available in the U.K and are the most widely stocked carp in the countries leading waters. GROWTH RATES Carp will only grow to the capability of the water they are stocked into. Size of the venue, amount of carp in the water, available food and part of the country the venue is located in all dramatically influence growth rates. Amazing growth rates in Southern based gravel pits which are very lightly stocked have been achieved with up to 7 lb plus in a year, however the average is around 3 lb. In the North of England average growth would be more like 2 lb. Fishery managers and syndicate bosses are more and more becoming aware of the tremendous influence supplementary feeding can have on the growth of their stock. I am always available for advice on supplementary feeding and can also supply top quality feed that our carp are reared on at trade prices. WHY PURCHASE OUR STOCK In today s day and age stocking new fish into waters can be a minefield and very often expensive mistakes can be made by putting the wrong stock into a water or stock of a dubious nature that can kill your existing stock. With years of experience in all aspects of stocking I can advise my customers on the best type of fish and sizes to stock into their waters to give them the best results and benefit their fisheries long term. We don t deal in other peoples unwanted stocks and we don t do outside netting work minimising the risks of our fish picking up diseases. What s more all of our fish are of a known age so you can be sure you know exactly what you are buying. A large percentage of the stock offered for sale in the UK are supplied by dealers who net fish from here, there and everywhere and take them back to holding farms where they are mixed together before being sold on. The 5 lb carp you have just purchased may look fine when it arrives and may be 1.00 per lb cheaper than a Heather Fisheries supplied fish but for all you know it could be 15 years old from a farm pond and might never grow, where as you know the three summer carp you have purchased from Heather Fisheries is exactly that. It has been picked out as the fastest growing percentage of its year class, and it will grow to the potential of the food source available. Ten years after stocking your dealer purchased fish might still be 5 lb or even worse dead while your Heather Fisheries fish could be a mid thirty. The same applies to all our bream, crucians, roach and tench. They are all young and fast growing farmed fish not somebody else s cast offs.

3 HOW OUR FISH ARE GROWN The carp are all spawned in a hatchery by John Paton at Fishers Pond artificially and then put out into specially prepared fry ponds. At 12 months old the best growers are grown on in a three acre pond then at two years transferred into a ten acre pond on the main site at Fishers Pond. At three years the best growers are moved to a ten acre outsite, while at four years the biggest fish get moved into various Heather Fisheries outsites which vary in size up to ten acres. All the fish produced are reared under natural conditions and their natural diet is supplemented with a quality trout pellet. None of our fish are grown in indoor warm water systems which is becoming a very unhealthy trend by other fish farmers who are producing fish at up to 10 lb in two years but these fish survive poorly when stocked and their weights plunge. Be warned about the increasing amount of these fish on the market. MALE TO FEMALE RATIOS When buying four year carp the ratio of females to males can be as high as 80% females, while in older year classes it can be as high as 90%. If you are stocking with four year or larger fish into a new water or a water with very few carp it is important to let us know so we can make sure there are enough males in your batch to make sure the females don t become spawn bound and die prematurely. Males on the whole are slower growing but do live longer than females and we are growing on an increasing number of our best males to 20 lb plus. Nearly half of this year s production of 30 lb plus fish were eight year males. WHEN RECEIVING YOUR STOCK It doesn t matter how careful we are at harvesting your carp they will always pick up superficial fin and scale damage during harvesting and transport but the damage will be superficial and will quickly heal. On the day of receiving your stock if you want to photo all of your carp please be organised with cameras unhooking mats etc (it s worth noting digital cameras don t like very cold conditions). We suggest you number large white envelopes with the numbers of the amount of fish you are having and have a black felt tip pen on the day to put the weight alongside the number of the fish. Please make sure you have enough people to make the stocking go as smoothly as possible. After starting out on most deliveries at 4.00 am we would appreciate your help in being on time to receive your fish and being organised to save as much time on the delivery as possible. 4 HOW ARE THEY DOING NOW John Patons Fishers Pond strain of carp are without doubt the leading strain in the country. Waters throughout the UK have been stocked with Fishers Pond fish with some amazing success stories which now grace the angling papers on a weekly basis with thirties and forties every week including 7 different fifties. Two new fifties this year include a 50 lb 11 oz fish from Lenwade Charity Lake which is a 16 year old fish and a sibling of this fish that come from a Cotswold Water Park venue at 51 lb 13 oz. 3 other fifties reside in no publicity waters in Essex and 2 in the Colne Valley. The Fishers Pond fish absolutely love it on The Isle of Wight and a new water to keep an eye out for is Will Groves Combley Trout Lake. Will Stocked this 3 acre lake with 30 x 3 summer fish at 5 lb in the spring of 2003 and was amazed when he drained it this spring to find 18 fish over 30 lb including 10 over 35 lb with the best two 39 lb 12 oz and 43 lb 10 oz an amazing success story and with the fish only 10 years old the skies the limit. 43 lb 10 oz from Combley Another Combley monster at just 7 years old 39 lb 12 oz Wills syndicate water Combley Main Lake produced fish to 36 lb this year and look out in future years for some exceptional commons that will has recently taken delivery of. 5 Next to the legendary Monks Pool on The Isle of Wight which rarely gets fished despite the tiny 2 acre venue holding at least 7 different forties. This year saw a new Island record common with Spencer Wright taking the Spring Common at 42 lb 14 oz, while Lee Petitt took Big Scale at 42 lb 8 oz. The pair are siblings to the Kingsmede commons, Miltons Baby Common, The Dovecote commons that have made 45 lb, an Essex fish that has gone 45 lb 12 oz and several 40 lb plus commons from the Cotswold Water Park. The batch will be 15 years old this June. The linear at Monks is on the up at 41 lb 10 oz, while Bluebell was taken by Treena Jupe at an all time high of 43 lb 9 oz. The biggest two Monks residents The Boxer and The Leather avoided capture and either could break the island record when next caught. Tim Oatleys Blackwater Syndicate at Merstone has had a fabulous year with Ian Lee taking a stack of fish to upper thirties. The big three Molly, Winkie and The Paultons Common went uncaught for the year, however Pepper at 37 lb 10 oz, Floody Tail at 37 lb 8 oz and Stevie at 37 lb 4 oz were all well up in weight. The 3 year old mirrors stocked spring 2006 at 5 lb have absolutely flown and the biggest has been caught at 31 lb 8 oz. Tim Oatleys Rookley had a fantastic year with 6 new thirties gracing the banks which brings the total to 24 over thirty and over 100 twenties in the tiny 2 acre venue. Highlight of the year was the capture of the second Rookley forty with Milly at 40 lb 1 oz to join Rosie at 40 lb 2 oz. Milly was stocked in 1999 at 5 lb as a 3 summer fish and is a sibling to Miltons Houdini and The Pretty Fish and will be 14 years old this June. Rookley has been an outstanding success story and only holds Fishers Pond fish and must be one of the most densely stocked twenties water in the country but they keep growing nice and steady. Rookleys Rosie at 40 lb 2 oz Milly at 40 lb 1 oz after being stocked 11 years ago Milton Abbas Houdini at 43 lb 9 oz Wayne Littles Milton Abbas Fishery is a very exciting water with a pile of thirties and many now creeping on towards the forty pound mark. The Miltons Baby Common is without doubt one of the best looking commons in the country and broke the lake record when caught at 42 lb 15 oz by Jason King. The lake record mirror Houdini hasn t been out for a while and 45 lb looks on the cards for the fish that holds the lake record at 43 lb 9 oz. The Pretty Fish a sibling to Houdini is also on the march and was recorded at an all time high of 38 lb 9 oz when landed by Neil Mitchell. Milton has a big head of magnificent commons that rarely get caught but they are coming on nice and steady and look to make very big fish.

Jason King with the Baby Common at 42 lb 15 oz from Milton A 30 lb 8 oz fish from Leverets John and Sandy Wilkins Leverets season ticket venue at Shepton Mallet has seen Little Brother out at 36 lb this year. The venue has also produced its first ever common with a 12 lb stocked 3 years ago out at 30 lb 6 oz to Luke McQueen. Leverets stocked with 350 Fishers Pond fish is another venue that shows what can be done with good fishery management and the right fish.

7 Scar at 31 lb 8 oz from Leverets Probably what has been one of the most amazing fish of the year is the Half Linear at 51 lb 6 oz. This fish was stocked at less than 1 lb into Chichester Long Lake and 8 fish found their way to Vinnetrow around 9 years ago with the Half Linear around 11 lb when moved. A couple of others are just over 40 lb and the rest are all over 35 lb. Chichester Churchyard has 25 Fishers Pond fish over 30 lb including 2 over 40 lb with the best 42 lb 8 oz. While the clubs Wick Lake holds stacks of Fishers Pond thirties. The Half Linear at amazing 51 lb 6 oz from Vinnetrow. The fish will be 14 years old in June and is a sibling to Miltons Houdini and Rookleys Milly. Next to Linear Fisheries that are full of our stockies and after the tragic losses after the floods 2 years ago things are definitely on the up again. The 2003 stocking of four summer fish in Brasenose 1 are coming on nice and steady and an increasing number are now between 28 lb and 31 lb 8 oz and believe me they are now going to be very big fish. They are siblings to the Grenvilles fish that have reached over 42 lb and the Combley fish that are up to 43 lb 10 oz. Hunts Corner produced a cracking Fishers Pond beauty at 39 lb 4 oz. While Gaunts Lake produced Fishers Pond fish to 41 lb 4 oz this year. Oxlease probably hit hardest by the floods has seen plenty of 20 lb plus fish this year and a nice few 30 lb plus fish and is very much on the up. While Brasenose 2 is now starting to produce its first 20 lb stockies.

8 41 lb 4 oz from Gaunts Cracking Fishers Pond mirror at 39 lb 4 oz from Hunts Corner Bradleys Lake on The Cotswold Water Park has thrown up some real whackers this year including several stunning commons to over 40 lb. These are the same batch as the Essex 45 lb, the Dovecote 45 lb, the Baby Common at Milton and the 40 lb from Monks on The Isle of Wight. The mirrors stocked the year before have been caught to 51 lb this year but as ever getting photos and actual confirmation is impossible. A lot of waters on the park hold some huge Fishers Pond fish but most are no publicity waters but certainly at least one other 50 lb plus Fishers Pond fish resides while a good head of 40 lb fish and loads of 30 lb are present. Andy Stumps Wildmoor Waters has seen Simmos to 29 lb this year and the first 30 lb must be on the cards this year. A magnificent 39 lb 2 oz Fishers Pond common from Bradleys A 38 lb Bradleys cracker Moving into the West Country Andy Serrys Stafford Moor is stuffed with our stockies to just about 30 lb and literally hundreds of doubles all creeping their way up to the 20 lb mark. It s frightening to think how many 20 lb will be in Beatties in the next few years. While the first few fish are pushing over the 20 lb mark in Josephs Lake this year. Kev Harmans Mid Cornwall Fishery is another water full of our stockies that are coming on nice and steady with over 50 over 20 lb.

9 A cracking upper twenty from Mid Cornwall Fishery Lenwade Charity Lakes 50 lb 11 oz a 16 year old Fishers Pond stockie Des Rambridges Dovecote Lake in Bedfordshire is full of our fish with commons to 45 lb plus and mirrors to similar size reported this year and with the superb water quality it can only be a short time before Dovecote does its first 50 lb. One venue that had done its first 50 lb Fishers Pond fish is Lenwade Charity Lake Norfolk that produced a 50 lb 11 oz mirror this year. This fish is one of the first batch of Fishers Pond Fish and is a sibling to the Horton fish and Monks Pool Isle of Wight fish. Over to Wales and our fish are really putting it on in The Birch which has a stack of Fishers Pond twenties from the 3 summer and 4 summer fish stocked over the years. While Bryn Bach Park is a venue that is coming on in leaps and bounds with a policy of stocking 50 x 4 summer fish each year which is really beginning to show dividends. Vince Lloyds White Springs is another water with our stockies to over 30 lb. The majority of the Cemex waters are stocked with Fishers Pond fish and the waters hold literally hundreds of 30 lb fish and plenty of 40 lb fish. Hortons Church Lake was the first Cemex water stocked with the original batch of fish which will be 16 years old in June. The fish stocked at 8 lb to 11 lb as 4 summer fish and look set to make fifties in the not too distant future. Cemex Kingsmeade was stocked the year after with a mixture of commons and mirrors and both have now gone over 40 lb with Kingsmeade Starry the lake record at 44 lb 10 oz. Bryn Bach mirror at 26 lb 13 oz this was stocked as a 4 summer fish at 10 lb Hortons Uno at 42 lb 4 oz

10 Hortons Spotty at 43 lb 12 oz Kingsmeade Starry at 44 lb 10 oz Mr Pinkie at 40 lb 4 oz from Kingsmeade Cemex Sandhurst has produced Fishers Pond fish to over 40 lb while Cemex Pads Lake and Cemex Road Lake also hold Fishers Pond fish to just short of 40 lb. Cemex Westhampnett at Chichester is a water very much on the up with some original Fishers Pond fish to 43 lb 10 oz while two lots of 50 x 4 summer carp are growing on very nicely. Another Cemex water to look out for if The Apex near Lincoln which is full of our stockies that are piling the weight on and will hold hundreds of twenties in the very near future. One of the most amazing success stories with Fishers Pond fish has been Paul and Sue Wards Grenvilles Lake at Huntingdon which holds literally hundreds of thirties and 3 different forties. Grenvilles was first stocked in November 2003 with 100 four summer fish which was followed by 150 more in November 2004 and without doubt the 7 acre venue will hold more forties than any other venue in the UK within five years. The 3 summer fish that were stocked in January 2005 are already up to 38 lb and won t be 8 years old until this June and one or two of the biggest of this batch look set to become absolute monsters.

11 A cracking 40 lb 3 oz from Grenvilles 39 lb mirror from Grenvilles Almost next door to Grenvilles is Mike Richardsons legendary Monks Pit which has seen incredible growth rates on our stockies. The 1999 three year old stockie Porky came out just below the lake record at 47 lb 10 oz after being stocked at just 4 lb and with the fish not 13 years old until June this year the skies the limit. The venue contains close to 100 fish over 30 lb from 310 fish we stocked since 1999 and the biggest stockie has been 12 lb. The venue has 6 different Simmo forties and more coming through all the time. Porky at 47 lb 10 oz This cracker is a new Monks forty at 43 lb 2 oz Yet another Monks monster at 42 lb 9 oz A Simmo stockie at 42 lb plus from Manor Farm Moving into Essex and a water that has some absolute monster Fishers Pond stockies is Manor Farm which has done several different forties in the last 12 months and is

12 certain to produce a Fishers Pond stockie at fifty pounds plus very shortly. Another Essex water Mitch Raynors The Rise has seen some six and seven year old carp stocked up to 27 lb going in the right directions and is definitely a water to keep your eye on. So far 10 fish have made over 30 lb with the best just short of 36 lb. Fryerning Fishery is another Essex water to watch out for which saw a new lake record this year with a magnificent half linear at 44 lb 2 oz. Colemans Lake in Essex has produced some cracking Fishers Pond 30 lb plus fish this year from four year old fish stocked 6 years ago at up to 12 lb. The best I have a photo of is 35 lb 6 oz but bigger have been recorded. Fryerning record at 44 lb 2 oz A 35 lb 6 oz from Colemans Lake Joe Jarmans Broadoak Fishery in Kent has had another good year with an ever increasing number of thirties with a lake record standing at 41 lb 7 oz with a fish called Alice. I stocked several cracking commons into Broadoak a few years back and the first Fishers Pond forty common from the venue looks likely any day. Broadoaks Alice at 41 lb 7 oz

13 Jason Davis runs a couple of cracking venues in Norfolk with some huge Fishers Pond fish. In Jasons Nunnery Lake a ghostie we stocked has reached 42 lb 8 oz, while on West Stow Lakes 2 Scales has been out at 41 lb. In one of Jason other waters the legendary Sid a male common which was part of the original Fishers Pond fishing stock has been caught this season at 46 lb 8 oz, this fish came to Fishers Pond in 1979 at 1 lb and was sold in 1995 at a mid twenty and is one of the longest commons in the country. West Stows 2 Scales at 41 lb Nunnerys ghostie at 42 lb 8 oz. Lydney Boating Lake is another water on the up and has produced a 39 lb 12 oz mirror which went out as a four year old fish at 10 lb in the late nineties. St Georges Lake in Surrey produced a superb 42 lb 4 oz mirror this year and this was a venue where all the stock went in at 5 lb as three year old fish. The venue has a stack of twenties and thirties and is another water that has benefited from putting quality fish into a good water and letting them grow on. Woking and Districts waters have seen a gentle stocking of our best 5 and 6 year fish into their waters in recent years and the benefits are really starting to show with fish to mid thirties which are on the verge of overtaking the original stock. The Wazeing Estate Syndicate water has seen several stockies go over 40 lb in recent years with the best this year 45 lb 8 oz so another water that could produce a fifty very soon and again these fish went in small at 5 lb as three year olds.

14 32 lb 8 oz from a Woking water A Chilham stockie at 37 lb Mid Kent Fisheries Chilham Lake received a stocking of our four summer fish in 2001 and these fish have never looked back with plenty of big fish coming through to 40 lb. Fishery Manager Chris Logsdone also took delivery of a big batch of 6 summer fish between 20 lb and 23 lb and stocked them into a couple of mid Kent waters and three years on these fish are pushing mid thirty. Its not just Southern waters that are producing some big Fishers Pond stockies with a string of Northern waters such as Lonsdale Park, The Aldermere Syndicate and Raker Lakes all waters to look out for in coming years. Raker has had a great year with stacks of upper twenties and a few thirties. 15 ABOUT THE CARP All the carp supplied by Heather Fisheries are from M.A.F.F registered fish farm sites in Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset and are guaranteed unfished for stock of the highest quality. The fish are health checked on a regular basis and subject to M.A.F.F conditions. All the fish are from a strain of carp developed over the years that is recognised as one of the fastest growing available in the UK the fish have never been or ever will be in contact with foreign carp whilst under my control. Two Summer Carp availability October 2010 to February Size 12 oz to 1 lb 4 oz. These fish are all mirrors and have plenty of scales with a good length. The biggest 5% at 4inches to 5 inches were stocked out April Suitable to be stocked into stock ponds or lakes with no other or very few carp and no predators (pike or cormorants). Will do best in specially prepared or virgin lakes where they are the only fish present. Not suitable to be stocked into densely stocked carp fisheries. Three Summer Carp for match and pleasure fisheries, availability October 2010 to February 2011 size 2 lb 8 oz to 4 lb. Just about the only thing to stock into cormorant ravaged clear weedy club lakes. Numerous venues have been turned round after being stocked at rates of around 250 lb per acre. Will mix with larger carp, the batch consist of all mirrors that are very scaly. If you want to reduce weed and keep anglers happy, the no.1 fish to stock. Three Summer Carp for specialist fisheries availability October 2010 to February 2011, size 4 lb to 6 lb. This cracking batch of scaly mirrors are the best 5,000 out of an original 300,000 making them 1 in 60 special. By crossing the Fishers Pond mirror strain with the Fishers Pond common strain the resulting offspring have grown on a par up to this stage as previous year classes which have had few scales. They have been stocked out at 2 lb in April 2009 and are suitable to be stocked directly into fisheries or grown on, on their own. I have experienced pike predation on three summer fish when stocked into waters where cormorants have decimated shoal fish, but normally they are fairly predator safe, but you have been warned. Seen above being stocked out at 2 lb these crackers will be available as 3 summer fish between October 2010 and February 2011 Four Summer Carp availability November 2010 to December 2010 size 7 lb to 11 lb. This batch of fish consists of 30% commons which are from brood stock that has seen commons to 45 lb 8 oz this year. They have good shoulders and a nice length.

16 The mirrors are big framed fish that are lightly scaled. They were stocked out at 5 lb to 6 lb in April Four summer carp will make twenties in two to three years in the right waters and are generally the most advised fish to stock into specialist carp fisheries. Seen being stocked out at 5 lb to 6 lb these mirrors and commons will be available as four summer carp between November 2010 and December 2010 Five Summer Carp availability October 2010 to February 2011 size 14 lb to 18 lb. The commons from this batch are magnificent and look set to become some of the country s biggest fish with great length and shoulders. They are well in advance at this stage of previous year classes that are taking the country by storm with forties from Bedford, Essex, Colne Valley, Cotswold Water Park, Dorset and The Isle of Wight. The mirrors have a great length and are scalier than previous year s classes and in the right water these fish will quickly go on to make thirties. Seen being stocked out at 12 lb to 13 lb these stunners will be available as five summer carp between October 2010 and February 2011 Six Summer Carp availability October 2010 to February 2011 size 19 lb to 22 lb 15 oz. These are the very best carp and only 1 in a 1000 is grown on to this stage. I can safely say there is nothing in the UK that comes in even close to the quality or size at this age.

17 Seven Summer Plus Carp availability October 2010 to February 2011 size 23 lb to 27 lb15 oz. Due to having to shut several of our biggest out sites to otter predation I can now only supply a very limited number of carp over 23 lb and these need to be ordered well in advance. Larger fish that 27 lb 15 oz are no longer available. Seen being stocked out at 20 lb plus these fish will be available as seven summer fish between October 2010 and March 2011 WE DON T JUST SELL CARP These half pound tench stocked out April 2010 will be available from November 2010 at around 1 lb in weight.

18 Our bream, tench, roach and crucians are growing to specimen size throughout the UK and are the best young farmed stock you can buy. Crucians stocked in 2002 at 6 inches are up to 3 lb 8 oz in Milton Abbas and I am confident Milton will produce a British record crucian. Our roach come from quality brood stock like this brace of near 3 lb Stocked in 2001 at 1 lb these three crackers are now 10 lb to 12 lb. All our stock fish are the best you can buy.

21 TERMS AND CONDITIONS 1. All orders must be received in writing and will be confirmed in writing by Heather Fisheries. 2. Fish will only be supplied with an FR 1 consent from the Environment Agency. Heather Fisheries will take care of the necessary paperwork on your behalf for a charge of Health certificates will be provided to the Environment Agency. 3. No guarantee can be taken to supply the whole order with the size of fish as requested, but orders are accepted on the terms that given normal growing conditions and bar disasters the fish you have ordered will be available. Any shortfalls in numbers or size will be notified to you well before delivery so you can make a decision whether you still want the fish. 4. Delivery of fish will be notified at least one week in advance. 5. All fish will be weighed on delivery and you will be charged the agreed price per lb to the nearest quarter of a pound. 6. When fish are supplied by the inch customers are encourage to count them into their fishery. 7. Heather Fisheries guarantees the health and condition of the fish to your fishery. On arrival you will be asked if you are happy with the fish. They will then be weighed or counted into your fishery and you will be asked to sign for them. 8. Once the fish leave the delivery tank and are in your waters and accepted by you then they become your responsibility and no claims can be made against Heather Fisheries under any circumstances in the future. 9. The whole order is subject to vat. 10. Payment will be made on the day of the delivery. N.B Once carp are harvested they will loose scales and get skin grazes and fin damage between then and being delivered to the customer. This damage is superficial and will heal quickly.

23 GRAND SLAM CHARTERS TOBAGO W.I Mark Simmonds owner of Grand Slam Charters has been involved in fishing for over 30 years with 20 years in coarse fishery management before switching to full time carp farming in Mark first visited Tobago in 1999 and fell in love with the tropical paradise and excellent fishing. In 2000 Mark helped the islands leading fly fishing guide Kester Herbert to get started in the charter boat business with the purchase of an 18 foot inshore boat Grand Slam and in 2007 Kester upgraded to a 22 foot boat designed for fly fishing and fishing with spinning tackle with the boat called Grand Slam 200. In 2002 Mark purchased a 32 foot offshore boat and in 2007 upgraded the boat with two new 200 horse power outboards. With both inshore and offshore boats Grand Slam Charters can cater for all your fishing needs. Getting to Tobago. Plenty of companies do package holidays to Tobago including air fares from around 500 to 1,200 for a week depending on the quality of the accommodation. British Airways, Virgin and Excel Airways all fly to Tobago either direct from Gatwick or via St Kitts or Grenada. Most of our customers travel with Excel with economy flights between 300 and 450 depending on the time of the year you travel. Excel also do Premium Economy and Excel 1 which is excellent value compared to other business and premium class flights from other airways. Accommodation in Tobago. Tobago has a wide range of accommodation from self contained apartments from around per person (2 sharing), hotel rooms from between and per night and villas from around per week. The boats run from Pigeon Point which is at the airport end of the island with extensive apartments including Surfside, Jimmys, Wood Castle, and Arthurs, while hotels include Crown Point, Tropikist, Toucan Inn, Sandy Point and the five star Cocoa Reef which is a fabulous hotel. Virgin, Tropical places and Hayes and Jarvis all do package trips to Tobago and sometimes tremendous deals can be had by shopping around. We can advise on all the various options so give us a ring. Food and Drink. Drink in Tobago is relatively cheap with a bottle of beer around 2.00 and rum around Imported spirits are about the same as in the UK in bars but more expensive by the bottle in supermarkets, wine and Champagne are very expensive. The cost of eating out is about the same as the UK. Weather. The rainy season is May to October although temperatures remain fairly constant throughout the year between 78 and 85 F. Even during the rainy season the island receives plenty of sunshine and the seas tend to be calmer during the rainy season than the high season.

24 FISHING IN TOBAGO Tobago is blessed with some tremendous inshore and offshore fishing and although the fishing is rarely easy the island has a wide variety of inshore and offshore species and our customers enjoy some tremendous captures each year. Inshore Fishing. Tobago waters hold all four of the most sort after inshore fish tarpon, bonefish, permit and an increasing number of snook. The islands tarpon fishing is very good with the average Tobago tarpon around 40 lb although we have recorded them to 100 lb plus. Bonefish run to double figures but average around 5 lb, while permit average around 12 lb and the snook around 8 lb. Inshore fishing takes place aboard the 22 foot Grand Slam 200 and tarpon trips are 4 hours from 6.00 am to am or 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm. Fly fishermen have caught tarpon to 60 lb with us and our inshore Skipper Captain Kester Herbert is a very experienced fly fisherman and can advise on flies etc but you will need to bring your own tackle for fly fishing. Most of the anglers however choose to use spinning tackle and live bait for both tarpon and snook and the boat is equipped with 20 lb and 30 lb class tackle for bigger tarpon along with 10 lb class tackle for smaller tarpon and snook. Grand Slam 200 has two live bait wells to keep you well supplied for bait for your trip. The bonefish and permit fishing takes place on the flats and the timing of your charter will depend on the tides. Again fly fishermen have enjoyed tremendous catches with Kester over the years including numerous grand slams (bonefish, permit and tarpon) in a day and it s only a matter of time before an angler includes a snook to bag the first ever quadruple slam. Spinning tackle (10 lb class) and float fished crab is the most widely used tactics for the bone fish and permit. The inshore fishing is 12 months of the year and we have caught all the inshore big four in every month of the year. All spinning tackle, bait and soft drinks are provided, you need to bring your own fly tackle. Offshore fishing. Tobago s offshore fishing is seasonal for blue marlin, sailfish, wahoo, yellow fin tuna and dorado with the season running from November to the end of April with February, March and April the peak months. For the rest of the year offshore we fish for kingfish, barracuda, bonito, snappers, jacks, sharks, stingrays and groupers which are around 12 months of the year. In the high season we fish 30 lb class tackle for wahoo which run to 60 lb, dorado to 50 lb and yellow fin tuna to 120 lb, while for the blue marlin which run to 600 lb and the sailfish which run to 80 lb we use 50 lb class tackle. A standard day s offshore fishing in the high season will see a mixture of bill fishing and fishing for wahoo, dorado and tuna. In the off season we very often run a reef off Trinidad called Emerald Shoals where it s not unusual to take 20 plus kingfish, barracuda and jacks in a day on 12 lb and 20 lb class tackle. Bottom fishing is also good all year round in Tobago with most species of sharks, giant stingrays, snappers, groupers and jacks. Offshore trips for a full day are 8 hours and for a half day 4 hours and all tackle, bait and soft drinks are provided. New for We have also started running trips to Trinidad for the most amazing tarpon fishing. In 2007 we caught tarpon to 177 lb and several fish over 100 lb and we are very much looking forward to our first 200 lb Trini tarpon.
