1 EDENVALE BOWLING CLUB BYE-LAWS CLUB COMPETITIONS: The closing date for these Competitions shall be at the discretion of the Committee. The Competitions consist of: Drawn Fours, Selected Pairs, Drawn Pairs, Mixed Pairs, Open Singles Championship, Senior Singles Championship, Novice Singles Championship. Cardings for club competitions can take place during any of the four playing sessions on weekends. SENIOR SINGLES: This Competition is eligible to persons 60 years and over at opening date of current season. NOVICE SINGLES: This Competition is eligible to persons who have not played bowls for longer than 3 years at any club, which need not be consecutive and who have not won any 4 bowl (i.e. singles or pairs) Competitions at Club or higher level. DRAWN PAIRS: Players entering this Competition must enter under their current gradings. LEAGUE CLOSING: The closing date for entries to be submitted for Wednesday and Saturday League shall be at the discretion of the Committee. PAYMENT: No Pay No Play rule applies. No Member shall be permitted to play in a Club, or Self-selected District or National Competition unless the full entry fee has been received by the treasurer on or before the published closing date on the club's entry form. Entry fees are to be paid preferably by EFT stating your name and the competition you are paying for OR to the barman who will issue the player with a receipt. The receipt number must be written next to your entry on the competition entry form. Members not adhering to this Bye-Law will be scratched from the relevant Competition. LEAVE LIST : The Selectors and Competition Secretary must be aware of your availability for club cardings during any weekend. Members must put their name on the leave list at least one week before being unavailable to play. PARTICIPATION: Any Members in bowling attire may be called upon to play Club Competitions during a normal playing session. Refusal to play will result in automatic scratching from the Competition in question. Members competing in EB Bowls knock-out competitions and being eliminated must make themselves available for Club Competitions immediately. The fact that their names may be on the leave list for the duration of the EB knock-out competition will not be accepted as a reason for refusing to play. Any Member who belongs to more than one club must decide which club to represent in League and District Competitions. No Member will be permitted to enter the Club Competitions if they are playing League, District or Club Competitions for another Club. GREENS CLOSED: No play on Mondays unless these are Public Holidays. The Club is closed on Good Friday and Christmas Day. Signs indicating that a green is closed must be respected at all times.

2 TABS IN: Tabs in sessions will generally be played in the 4's or trips format. Fours should consist of 21 ends and trips 18 ends, unless agreed democratically by the majority of players on the rink. Skips have the deciding vote. Tabs in starting times: 1 October 30 April: Weekdays 09h00 and 14h00. Weekends 09h00 and 14h00 (including Public Holidays) 1 May 30 September: Weekdays 09h00 and 13h30 Weekends 09h00 and 13h30 (including Public Holidays) Players are advised to have their tabs-in a minimum of 15 minutes before play starts so that the draw can be done timeously. Visiting players taking part in a tabs in game must be able to, on request, present their Bowls SA or other International bowls affiliation membership card. A green fee will be levied by the Club on a visiting player. The fee is at the discretion of the Club Committee and is currently R DRESS: Club colours or Bowls SA dress must be worn on the green on the following occasions. When representing your club. When playing club competitions. Saturday afternoons, Sundays and public holidays. Members selected by the Club to play in District and higher competitions must be dressed in Club colours. Members may wear casual clothing (Civvies) for playing sessions at the Club during the week (see dress code below). Bowling hats may be worn with casual clothing at the Club. On the greens flat soled shoes in accordance with Bowls SA regulations must be worn at all times. CLUB DRESS CODE: Our general guideline : Ensure that you are always neat and respectably dressed. Please note that members are responsible for the dress code of their guests. These are the some of the points to bear in mind. Smart casual is good. Men must wear a shirt with a collar and sleeves. Proper golfing/bermuda tailored, knee length shorts are permitted. Running or draw-string shorts are not permitted. Traditional knee length socks or ankle length white socks must be worn with short pants.

3 Smart denims are permitted but not the fashionable torn type. Beach thongs are not permitted. During the week casual wear is allowed for club organised tabs-in games and at these times the above guidelines must be followed. CLINICS: PRACTICING: The use of the Greens for the Club's Coaching Clinics will be allocated in terms of a decision made by the Club Committee. Members may NOT practice or play a practice game:- At any time on Monday On any green that displays the green closed sign When greens have been closed due to inclement weather On any green that is being used for a club/district competition. Outside the times listed below Members may practice or play a practice game on any available green:- On Saturday between 9h30 and 13h00. NOTE: at least one green will be reserved for coaching. On Tuesday and Friday after 13h00. On Wednesday between 10h30 and 13h00 and after 15h00. On Sunday after 13h00. Club colours or Bowls SA dress must be worn on the green on the following occasions. When representing your club. When playing club competitions Saturday afternoons, Sundays and public holidays. Pre-arranged practice games for Club SELECTED teams can be played outside of the above times but only with the express permission of the committee who will decide each game on merit. BOUNCE GAMES: A bounce game is a game that is privately arranged by a member of the Club. Bounce games will fall under the same rules as Practice Games, See under PRACTICING: above. BAR: The Club liquor licence states that no alcohol will be sold before 10h00 and after 02h00 on any day. Closing times: Monday to Thursday 19h30 Friday 21h00 Saturday 20h00 Sunday 18h00 These closing times can vary with the agreement of the Duty Barman or by any competent member who will take over the responsibility of tending the bar and locking the Club.

4 KITCHEN: SMOKING: OVER 80 ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION: Cutlery and Crockery are not to be used by club members unless they have prior permission from the Caterer. Smoking is only permitted in a designated smoking area or out of the confines of the Club building. Any person smoking in a non-smoking area causing the Club to be fined will accept the entire responsibility of their own fine as well as that of the Club. Members over the age of 80 years as at 31st August and with 5 years membership, will pay subscriptions 50% below the normal subscription from 2013/2014 season. This rate can be changed at the discretion of each incoming committee. Affiliation fees to EKB and BSA are due over and above this rate. Other rules pertaining to Annual Subscriptions are per the Constitution.
