1 Santa Margarita Catholic High School Boys Golf MISSION STATEMENT Our mission is to provide an exceptional golfing environment that nurtures talented players who share a mutual respect for the sport, for each other, for opponents and officials. Thank you for your interest in the Santa Margarita Catholic High School Boys Golf Program. We would like to welcome back our returning players and are excited to meet the new players and their parents. We are looking forward to having another great year. The goal of SMCHS Boys Golf is to not only have a fun team experience but also prepare our student athletes for a life of leadership. This packet contains all of the information and approval forms that must be completed and signed by parents and players before players can receive their uniform and be allowed to participate in the SMCHS Boys Golf Program. It is very important that each parent and player thoroughly read and review all attached forms. By signing the approval forms, you are indicating that you 1) understand the risks that may be associated with participation in the SMCHS Boys Golf Program and agree to accept those risks. 2) understand the rules applicable to your son s participation in the SMCHS Boys Golf Program, and that you and your son agree to abide by those rules. The team fee for this season is $1,800 for all levels (for new players an additional $150 for a golf bag). As a reminder, we are billing Boys Golf sports fees for on FACTS on Feb 15, This is the school credit card payment system. You do have the option to pay the entire amount with a check if you choose to do so at the Parent Meeting. Any further assistance regarding payment plans past the scheduled due dates should go through Juliana Treadway in the Business Department. All player forms must be printed, completed, and returned at the Player/Parent meeting. If you have any questions regarding any of the forms in this packet, we will be happy to answer them at the meeting. Thank you, Coach Chuck Morales Santa Margarita Catholic High School Boys Golf ATHLETES CODE OF ETHICS
2 Athletics is an integral part of the school s total educational program. All school activities, curricular and extra-curricular, in the classroom and on the playing field, must be congruent with the school s stated goals and objectives for the intellectual, physical, social, and moral development of its students. It is within this context that the following Code of Ethics is presented. I. Responsibility Each golfer who represents SMCHS shall have the responsibility of representing our school in the best possible manner. Each golfer is expected to put forth their best effort individually, in team and in representing SMCHS. Our program is very visible. Each golfer must always be aware that we not only represent the golf program, but more importantly SMCHS. II. Academics Notifying teachers 1. Tell teachers of absences in advance 2. You are responsible for make-up work 3. If you have a problem missing a certain class, notify your coach Eligibility GPA must be maintained to stay eligible 2. There will be grade checks throughout the season 3. Low grades may jeopardize playing time to allow for academic improvement 4. You must be in school by 9:30 a.m. to participate in matches or practices III. IV. Appearance Uniform 1. During golf season, our golfer s main affiliation is to SMCHS so all golf shirts must have the SMCHS logo. During competition any item of clothing that is not part of the team uniform may not be worn. 2. All players must wear golf appropriate dress shorts/slacks to all practices and matches. 3. Head Coach determines game day uniform. The entire team must be in matching uniform. Anyone deemed to be out of uniform on game day will not participate in the match. General Guidelines SMCHS/Trinity League/CIF Rules 1. Know and follow all state, section, and school athletic rules and regulations as they pertain to eligibility and sports participation. 2. Refer to SMCHS and Golf Program Guidelines and Policies. 3. No gambling, betting or games of monetary value at practice or matches. Refrain from the use of profanity, vulgarity, and other offensive language and gestures. 4. Integrity is of the utmost importance in the game of golf. All players are ultimately responsible for keeping a true and honest score in all matches. 5. If any player violates any of these rules, that player will be subject to termination from the Boy s Golf Program. V. Matches Procedures at Golf Courses 1. In the absence of a coach, team captains are in charge of the team. 2. Stay out of the pro shop unless given permission by the coach 3. Do not use the driving range at any course unless given permission by your coach
3 4. Do not park in the pool area at Coto de Caza 5. Team prayer is lead by captain before and after each match Transportation 1. School vans will be used for away matches 2. Golfers will be responsible for transportation to home matches and practices. VI. Team Mass all members must attend Spring Sports Team Mass as indicated by SMCHS. VII. Playing Time All Levels 1. Playing time and match pairings will be at coach s discretion. VIII. Outside Instruction and Team Practice All Levels 1.
