Over the last 12 months the club has continued to operate sufficiently and at an expected level of service. The board of directors have been pro-active in cutting expenses while not cutting member services. In the pro shop, Bob Ward has implemented new ideas and programs for both the adult and youth golf program. Additionally, Link Hills Golf Academy has been formed and is a new way to provide information and instruction via Facebook and social media. We are committed to continue building golf play as well as the junior golf program at Link Hills. In the clubhouse, Jack Wilson and Jeremy Bouck have introduced new dining menus and new activities have been scheduled to offer. Over the coming summer months members will have the opportunity to attend events such as the "newmember" welcome event, Family bingo nights and Pool activities. The member guest gala on July 30-August 2 is traditionally the highlight of the summer season and plans are being finalized to make it the biggest and best yet! Additionally, Marshall Brown and his staff continue to provide the BEST golf course in Greene County. Not only in terms of playability, but also condition. Link Hills is fortunate to have a premier Robert Trent Jones golf course playable virtually year round. The job that Marshall and his staff do with a limited budget is impressive. The success of Link Hills is only possible due to the continued support of YOU our valued member. We are also very fortunate that our corporate partners have decided that LHCC is worth the investment to the community and to their business as well. Over the summer months as activities and events are scheduled at the club for your use, please consider attending and patronizing these events to help defray the associated cost. These events are planned to provide our members with extra social opportunities exclusive to club membership. Also please be mindful for the club's business success, monthly billing statements should be paid timely and maintained in good standing. This is essential to pay our suppliers and continue to provide activities for member use. 2 Hospitality News Happy June! Summer is just about here and never is it more obvious than here at The Links! The pool is open, the greens are in great shape, and the fun is just beginning! Social events always make for a great summer. Please join us on June 5th as we host a Welcome Reception to all of our newest members. The Culinary Team will be offering complimentary hors d'oeuvres beginning at 5:30p, and delicious White and Red Sangria will be flowing in the lounge. Come share traditions and make new memories and new friends. Don't forget, the return of our Thursday Night Family Fun Night. Each Thursday come join in the fun in the Foy Harrison Grill. Games and food for all! Whether its Bingo or Pictionary, nothing is better after a long day at the pool. Food specials every Thursday. Games begin at 6:30p. Of course, each Friday and Saturday night, Jeremy and crew continue to offer outstanding fine dining options. Service is from 5:30p - 8:00p. Sunday Brunch continues to grow in popularity too - Each Sunday from 11:00a - 2:00p we will offer great dining options for everyone! Enjoy the newly expanded grill menu. Sample the "Sunday Savory", and once a month enjoy our Fried Chicken Sunday and Full Breakfast Buffets! Charge privileges in bar and 19th hole/grill. This membership level is being offered to the general public and existing social dining members. Pool Party Information: Minimum of 2 hours, dollars for each hour after the initial 2 hours. Cost covers 2 life guards. Charges for parties will be applied to member's house account. As everyone is aware, our bermuda turf is still coming in slowly. In an attempt to fast forward our growth we have been spiking all the fairways to increase air movement and water retention for the root zones, and watering as much as possible. With all this in mind, as of May 27 th, we have had 1.53 inches of rain and temperatures in the mid to upper 80,s. All of these factors make it hard to have healthy turf, especially considering our situation with our winter kill areas. I have been working with the greens committee, to address what may be done to some of our weak fairway areas. We applied a preemergent herbicide to our course in early spring while all bermuda areas were still in their dormancy period. This is common practice however, we have not experienced weather like we have had for the past 2 years. With that being said, since a barricade preemergent was applied, we cannot Sprig- Sod- into these areas. We will be trying to seed into some of these areas with hopes of some germination, but I cannot at this point guarantee any results. At this time we need mother nature on our side for awhile, instead of working against us. We will be starting to slice some seed into some of these areas the 2 nd week of June in hopes of seeing some results. Please remember we are not the only golf course experiencing these problems, it is every where. In a nut shell, my staff and I will continue to provide you the best playing conditions possible. 7 Link Hills Golf Instruction Clinics Youth & Adult Programs for Link Hills, Public & YMCA Members The Spark Camp Youth age 7 to 10 Saturdays in June 6,13, 20 (10:00 ~11:30) 4.5 hours The Spark camp is a great opportunity for children ages 7 ~ 10 to make friends in a fun environment learning about the game of golf. The camp consists of 6 one hour sessions designed for beginner & experienced juniors. Swing motions & movements will be taught using techniques relative to their age and skill level. The Ignition Camp Youth age 11 to 15 Saturdays in June/ July 11:30 ~ 12:30 The Ignition camp offers juniors a highly structured opportunity to improve & advance their games into competitive golf. Complete comprehensive instruction within all areas of the game. The camp will consist of 6 one hour sessions designed for all skill levels. Cost: $200. LH Members / YMCA Members $ Class space is limited to 15. Fee includes drinks & snacks. Adult Women Monday s in July 6,13,20,27 (11:00-12:15) 4.5 hours Clinics for women of all ages. Class is designed for women interested in learning to play golf for fun. Covers all aspects of the game. Adult Men Saturday s in June 6,13,20 (1:00-2:30) 4.5 hours Clinics for men of all ages. Class is designed to teach men the fundamentals of the golf swing, along with a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the game of golf. Cost $150. YMCA Members/ LH Members $120 Class is limited to 15 Private Lessons Private lessons are made available for YMCA members at a discounted price. 8 Eligibility: Open to all amateurs who meet the USGA definition of an amateur golfer. Format: 36-hole stroke play championship in the following divisions: Championship, Senior Championship (50 years of age by June 22nd), 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th flights. You may declare for the Championship divisions, all other players will be flighted after 1st round scores. Entry: The entry fee of $ for non- members and $ for full LH members includes cart and practice balls for both tournament rounds and one practice round (cart not included for practice round). Entry Deadline: Wednesday June 25th or earlier if full field of 100 is met. Phone in entries will be accepted with credit card payment. Prizes: Champion, Senior Champion and all flight winners receive a distinctive gift. The top 33% in each flight will receive gift certificates from Link Hills pro shop ( based on field size.)
