2 REQUEST FOR SUPPORT Dear Friend of Big Brothers Big Sisters, The Big Brothers Big Sisters Golf for Kids Sake is an essential event. The proceeds from the annual tournament allow us to continue to offer our programs to children and youth as well as recruit mentors at no cost to the participant or volunteer. As a result of the support received at this event we are able to match more deserving children with caring adult mentors. We proudly have more children matched with mentors, and have more programs in local schools, than at any point in our organizational history. But with success comes challenges. Making and supporting one match through its first year costs $1,000 and while funding streams lack dependability our capacity to support our matches and programs is tested as the need increases. Our programs are invaluable to the children and youth involved and extend beyond the children and families we serve to benefit the entire community; they are about intervention, prevention, and building resilience in our community s children and youth. It is our hope that you will thoughtfully sponsor in the 2018 Golf for Kids Sake event. Please know that by sponsoring this event you are filling an immediate need; you are transforming the life of a child and impacting the positive development of Niagara s youth, the value of which is immeasurable. Serving as role models, our mentors teach by example the importance of giving back, of staying in school, and of having respect for family, peers and community. Each time we pair a child with a mentor or introduce a group of students to an in-school program, we start something incredible a life-changing relationship built on friendship, trust and empowerment. Witnessing the transformation of a child into a confident, concerned and motivated young person is a remarkable thing.
