2 1 FOREWORD: The Barkly Sports Group Limited (BSG) trading as AusDarts is a public company, limited by guarantee and is also a not for profit company. One of its primary roles is to ensure good governance and integrity within the sport of darts. The aim of the BSG is to seek recognition as the number one organisation for Darts in Australia with responsibility for providing and administering the sport that will improve the image and profile of Darts within Australia. Our main objective is to encourage and promote the amateur players of Australia in their endeavors to join the professional ranks around the world. BSG has the ability to make and enforce rules and regulations with regard to the conduct of Players and Members which could injure or discredit the Organisation or bring the game of darts into disrepute and to discipline Members and Players for breaches of any rules and regulations. The BSG Board of Directors are independent individuals who provide a cross-section of views and experience from different backgrounds. It is essential for the future of Darts that the sport is seen to be conducted fairly according to the rules and regulations and is free from corruption in any form. 2 INTRODUCTION: This Document outlines the rules and regulations to which all must rely on to administer the Sport of Darts at all AusDarts events. By paying your fees to compete in any AusDarts Tournament you acknowledge and accept that all the following rules are enforceable by AusDarts without exception. 3 DEFINITIONS: 3.1 Various words and phrases are used in these Rules for which purpose they have the meanings defined below: Annual Playing Fee means the fee payable each year to become a member of AusDarts; AusDarts means the regulatory authority that the events are governed and controlled by; Ausdarts Players Card means the card issued to the player upon payment of the annual playing fee; AusDarts Rules means the rules and regulations drawn up by AusDarts from time to time; Average means the average score thrown by three (3) darts; Bye means an uncontested match resulting in automatic progression for the player; Caller mean the person calling the scores during a staged event; Dartboards means the dartboards that have been approved for use at AusDarts events; Date of Issue 1/7/2016 Revision due 30/6/2018 Page 2 of 12

3 Darts Event means a darts match or tournament organised under the jurisdiction of or in accordance with the AusDarts rules; Double means a double-score section of the board including the centre bull; Event Sponsor means the number one sponsor for the tournament; Entry Forms means the forms required to be filled out in order to participate in the tournament; Entry Fee means the fees payable to AusDarts to be able to participate at one of its events; Game Shot means a throw which must land on a double which reduces a player s score for that leg to zero therefore winning the leg; General Playing Rules means the rules relating to all AusDarts tournaments; Guest means any person who has been invited to the event by a player, member or sponsor; Match means a darts match between two Players or between teams of Players as part of a Darts Event; Match Board means the dart board on which a match is played; Match Play means the game currently being played; Member(s) means any member or members of Ausdarts; Oche means the line from where the player must stand in order to throw the darts; Official(s) means any official or officials appointed by AusDarts to officiate at a darts event; Order of Play means the result of the draw resulting in player starting positions and opponent; Organising Club means the club where the tournament is being played; Player means any player registered as a darts player with AusDarts and participating in any darts event or activity held under AusDarts rules; Player Fees means the fees set out for that tournament; Playing Attire the clothes and accessories worn by a Player during a match; Playing Area means the area 1 metre behind the Oche extending to the dartboard and 1.5 metres from the centre of the board extending sideways; Ranking Points means the points system accumulated whilst playing in any AusDarts event; Recorder means any person appointed by AusDarts to record all match scores and enter all relevant match play details on official result sheets or record cards; Referee means an official that has been appointed to oversee the players activities; Date of Issue 1/7/2016 Revision due 30/6/2018 Page 3 of 12

4 Scorer means the person appointed by AusDarts to mark scores on official score sheets or an official score board during any match; Score Card means the paper on which the match is being recorded on; Sponsor any organisation or individual promoting or organising a darts event under AusDarts rules; Stage Officials means scorers callers referees allowed in front of the player at the oche; Throw means 3 darts thrown by the player except on game shot whereby the number of darts thrown is recorded; Tie Break means when both players are equal on wins for the Match; Tournament means a darts match or tournament organised under the jurisdiction of or in accordance with the AusDarts rules; Tournament Director means the person appointed by AusDarts to oversee the running of a darts event; Tournament Venue means the physical location at or in which a Darts Event takes place. 1.2 Words importing one gender shall be construed as importing any other gender. 1.3 Words importing the singular shall include the plural and vice versa. 4 CODE OF CONDUCT: 4.1 No Player or Member shall act in a manner which may bring the game of darts into disrepute. 4.2 All Players and Members will comply with the rules and any breaches will result in disciplinary action in accordance with the AusDarts Rules. 4.3 Any Player, Member or Guest who is asked by the Tournament Director to leave a venue at which an AusDarts Event is being conducted then they must do so immediately. 4.4 No Player or Member will refuse reasonable requests from a sponsor or the media at any AusDarts Event. 4.5 All Players, Members and Guests will not display unruly behaviour towards an opponent during or after any Match at any Darts Event. 5 GENERAL PLAYING RULES: 5.1 Players shall provide their own darts which shall not exceed a maximum length of 30.5cms (12ins) nor weigh more than 50 grams. Each dart shall consist of a needle shaped point which shall be fixed to a barrel and have attached a stem with any combination of a flight and flight securing device. 5.2 All Players shall abide by and play within the AusDarts Rules and any other rules which may be outlined on an entry form by AusDarts or the Sponsor. 5.3 All Players shall play under the supervision and direction of the appointed Tournament Director in all Darts Events. 5 5.4 Any Player failing to comply with any of the AusDarts Rules during or after a Darts Event shall be liable to disqualification from that event and future events at the discretion of the Tournament Director. 5.5 Any matter not expressly covered by the Ausdarts Rules shall be determined by the Tournament Director whose decision shall be final. 5.6 A Player shall throw darts from a standing position only unless special circumstances require a Player to adopt a non-standing position from a wheelchair or similar form of support due to an injury or physical disability. 5.7 All darts must be deliberately thrown from the Player s hand one at a time. 5.8 A throw shall consist of a maximum of three darts thrown by a Player. 5.9 A throw of 1 or 2 darts which causes a Player to exceed their score required (bust) then the number of darts recorded for that shot shall be A throw where a Player scores the correct amount (peg) to finish the game then the game shall be recorded by the number of darts thrown to achieve the finish Any dart bouncing off or falling out of the dartboard does not count and shall not be re-thrown by the Player In a darts event each leg shall be played with a straight start from 501 to the finish which must be on a Double The centre bull shall count as 50 and the outer bull shall count as The Bull shall count as 50 and if 50 is required to complete a game then the Bull shall count as double The Bust rule shall apply if a Player scores more than the number required then that throw shall not count and be recorded as per A Score is not completed until all darts are retrieved from the dartboard by the Player who has thrown In the event a scorer has called a score and any dart falls from the board before being retrieved by the Player then the score is to be recalled to the value on display by the darts remaining in the board Any dart thrown by a Player after scoring the Game Shot shall not be counted as the match is concluded by the Game Shot The Scorer may make no indication of the required double to make the Game Shot and shall only indicate the score remaining and not the double required to achieve that score The first Player to reduce the score required to exactly zero by obtaining the required Double is the winner of that game The Tournament Director will have the final say in all matters relating to starting and finishing A dart shall only score if the tip of the dart remains in or touches the face of the dartboard within the outer double wire and remains in the dartboard until retrieved from the dartboard by the Player throwing the darts A dart is counted by reference to the segment into which the point of the dart enters and remains in or is touching the face of the dartboard Darts shall be retrieved from the dartboard by the throwing Player but only after the score has been called by the Scorer A discrepancy about the score called after the retrieval of the darts from the board may not be disputed and the Scorer s call remains. 6 5.26 All scores should be checked by the Players after each Throw and certainly before the next Player s Throw commences All requests by any Player to check the score recorded must be made before the Players next Throw in relation to which the alleged error occurred Errors in scoring shall stand unless corrected prior to the next Throw of the Player whose score is in error The actual score required by a Player must be shown on the score board and be clearly visible to the Players and any Recorder required to document the scores The Tournament Director shall act as an umpire in all matters pertaining to these AusDarts Rules when conducting a Darts Event and shall consult with Scorers and other Officials before announcing any decisions during the course of match play. 6 DARTBOARDS: 6.1 All dartboards shall be of the Bristle type. 6.2 All dartboards shall be of the 1-20 Clock pattern. 6.3 The inner narrow band shall score treble the segment number. 6.4 The outer narrow band shall score double the segment number. 6.5 The outer centre ring shall score The inner centre ring shall score 50 and shall be called the Bull. 6.7 Only dartboards approved by AusDarts may be used at any Darts Events. 6.8 The dartboard shall be fixed in such a manner that the perpendicular height from the floor to the centre of the Bull shall measure 1.73 metres. 6.9 The changing of a dartboard shall only be carried out by an Official Dartboards used shall be adequately lit by suitably positioned light fittings All light fittings must be fitted with screens to divert light from the Players eyes when standing at the Oche and must not cause a shadow over the board A raised Oche should be 25 mm high and 900 mm long and must be placed in position at the minimum throwing distance and shall measure from the back of the raised Oche 2.37 metres along the floor to a plumb line at the face of the dartboard The diagonal distance from the centre of the Bull to the back of the raised Oche at floor level shall measure 2.93 metres During match play no Player shall tread on any part of the raised Oche nor shall the Player deliver any dart whilst his feet are in a position other than behind the toe edge of the raised Oche A Player wishing to throw a dart from a point on either side of the raised Oche must keep his feet behind an imaginary straight line extending on either side of the raised Oche Any Player in breach of Clause 6.14 or 6.15 shall first be warned by the Recorder, Official or Tournament Director in the presence of the Player. Any dart subsequently delivered in breach of these Clauses shall not score and shall be declared invalid Checking the Oche and Playing Area dimensions will be done prior to all AusDarts Darts Events by the Tournament Director. Adjustment to the Oche and Playing Area dimensions shall only be carried out by an appointed match Official A Player shall have the right to request that the Oche and Playing Area dimensions be checked and adjusted only before the first leg commences. 7 6.19 In all televised events the stage finals will be subject to a Playing Area for the competing Players. The Playing Area will be clearly marked and will measure at least 1.5 metres from the centre of the Oche extending sideways and at least 1 metre behind the Oche The Player with the Throw after retrieving his darts shall be obliged to turn to their right and to walk back to the non-playing position without stepping in to the marked Playing Area The non-throwing Player must not enter the Playing Area behind or at the side of the Oche until the throwing Player has completed his or her Throw In all televised events the stage finals will be subject to the scrutiny of a Second Referee. The powers of the Second Referee will be as wide ranging as those of the Referee but will be confined to supervising the Playing Area and general behaviour which is out of sight of the Referee. 7 TOURNAMENT AND CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYING RULES: 7.1 All AusDarts Grand Prix & Division 1 Tournaments playing format shall be 501 straight start, Round Robin Draw to knockout, RR Best of 5 (form ADF-003), Last 32 or 16 best of 7 legs (form ADF-004), Quarter Finals best of 9 legs (form ADF-005), Semi Finals best of 11 Legs (form ADF-006), Finals Best of 13 legs (form ADF-007). 7.2 All Ausdarts Division 2 tournaments playing format shall be 501 straight start, Round Robin to knockout, RR will be best of 3 legs (form ADF-002) Last 32 or 16 best of 5 Legs (form ADF-003) Quarter finals best of 7 legs (form ADF-005), Semi Finals best of 9 legs (form ADF-005) Finals best of 11 Legs (form ADF-006). 7.3 All Ausdart Competitions, Score sheets must be filled out for every game played 7.4 No player shall be eligible to play in any AusDarts Tournaments without paying the Annual Playing Fee, the Tournament Fee and producing their AusDarts Players Card. 7.5 Unless stated otherwise Darts Events shall be run on a knockout basis. 7.6 Some events may involve a Round Robin process which means each player plays every other Player in that Event. 7.7 AusDarts reserves the right to cancel or change any date or Tournament Venue and scheduled Darts Event without prior notice. 7.8 All Players shall play within these General Playing Rules and any other rules laid down in formal written or electronic communications between AusDarts and the Player. 7.9 Any Player found guilty of deliberately losing a leg, set or match shall be disqualified from any further participation in that particular Darts Event and shall also be subject to any other penalty or sanction that AusDarts may deem to impose No Player that has been knocked out of a Darts Event shall play again in that Darts Event except in those circumstances when a breach of the General Playing Rules has occurred which has affected the losing Player. AusDarts may, at its own discretion, reinstate the Player in the Darts Event back to the start of the game in which the breach occurred and all subsequent games affected by such change shall be replayed. 8 7.11 If a Player is absent without AusDarts or the Event Sponsor s prior permission at any official presentation ceremony to receive trophies, prizes or prize monies, then that Player may forfeit the right to receive any such trophies, prizes or prize monies that may be due Any Player not fulfilling the playing commitments of a Darts Event by failing to complete in all scheduled matches shall forfeit the right to receive any trophies prizes or prize monies that may be due in relation to that Darts Event and may be subject to further sanctions as AusDarts sees fit to impose. 8 ENTRY: 8.1 Under no circumstances will Admission fees into any Tournament Venue be refunded. 8.2 Entry fees into any Darts Event are not refundable except in the absolute discretion of the AusDarts. 8.3 All entries are to be made on official Entry Forms which must be accurately completed and returned to the Organising Club together with the appropriate Entry Fees before or on the specified closing time and date. 8.4 Any Entry Form found to be inaccurately completed or not submitted strictly in accordance with the requirements set out in the entry form may be rectified by the Player before commencement of play. Failure or refusal by the Player to rectify may result in disqualification from continuing to play in the event, however should this occur prior to play starting then the Entry Fee will be refunded. 8.5 A Player whose entry form is falsified may be disqualified during or after the Darts Event depending upon when the inaccuracy is discovered. Should the discovery be made after the event then the Player shall return immediately all prizes and prize money awarded from that event and furthermore shall be disqualified from all future events until such time as the prizes and prize money has been returned to AusDarts. All Ranking Points accumulated by the offending player will be suspended until the situation has been rectified. Suspension of 3 tournaments mandatory for knowingly providing false information. 8.6 Should an offence under Clause 8.5 eventuate then all prizes and prize money become the property of AusDarts to deal with as they see fit. 8.7 Only the Player named on an entry form shall be eligible to play in the Darts Event. 8.8 No Player shall enter more than once in any respective Darts Event unless the rules of that Darts Event allow. 8.9 All Players participating in all Ausdarts Darts Events must play under his or her own name The completion of an entry form by a Player and the acceptance of that entry form by AusDarts or the Organising Club shall be deemed as an acceptance by that Player of the General Playing Rules in relation to that Darts Event Ausdarts and the Organising Club reserves the right to refuse any entry at any stage providing a reason is given in writing to the Player concerned and its decision shall be final in all matches relating to that Darts Event. 9 9 REGISTRATION AND CALL TO PLAY: 9.1 All Players shall register at each Darts Event at scheduled times which are predetermined by the Organising Club. 9.2 Any Player failing to register by the notified time will not be eligible to compete in that event. 9.3 Any Player that is not in attendance when called upon to play at the nominated time will forfeit that match at the sole discretion of the Tournament Director. In such instances no Entry Fee shall be refundable. 9.4 Players should be present at their Match Board when their match is due to be played and when they are due to score a match. Failure to do so may render the Player liable to disqualification or disciplinary action at the absolute discretion of the Tournament Director. 9.5 Players who do not score in the immediate game after losing may forfeit any prize money and ranking points as penalty unless valid reasons for not doing so are presented. 10 DRAW 10.1 The Organising Club shall perform the draws for each event utilising an AusDarts agreed formula. Once the draw has been made no changes will be made even if a Bye is created by non-attendance The Draw must be clearly displayed at a convenient place in the Tournament Venue. 11 ORDER OF PLAY 11.1 It is recommended that the Order of Play shall be determined by a throw at the Bull The Person who is named first on the player form shall be first to throw for the Bull The winner of the throw at the Bull shall throw first A bull is a bull and a 25 is a 25 so any dart that hits and remain in the bull or the 25 shall be retrieved by the Player before the second Player throws a dart This will continue until a winner is decided If a dart should fall out of the board during a throw then the Player shall continue their throw until one remains in the board. 12 SCORE CARD: 12.1 The Score Card may be made out at the control desk detailing the Order of Play. Such a card shall be presented to the Players. The Referee and the Players shall be responsible for ensuring that the Order of Play and order of throwing is strictly adhered to during that Match On conclusion of a Match the winning Player shall immediately take the Score Card to the control desk The progression of Players shall be marked up on draw charts and made available at the control desk so that Players or spectators can determine the current position during the Darts Event. 10 13 PRACTICE: 13.1 Once the Match has been called and scorers are at the ready then each Player is entitled to throw a maximum of 9 darts No practice other than that allowed under clause 13.1 shall be allowed on Match Boards between legs after the Match has officially started Practice Boards may be provided in or adjacent to the Tournament Room for the exclusive use of Players in that Darts Event only. 14 TOURNAMENT PLAY AT A DARTS EVENT: 14.1 In tournament play all Players shall play under the supervision and direction of the appointed Officials No person shall be allowed within the playing area other than a Referee, Scorer, Recorder or Player Only a Referee, Caller, Scorer shall be allowed to be situated in front of a Player actually at the Oche throwing darts Stage Officials are expected to restrict their own movements to a minimum during the course of a Player s Throw and they are not permitted to drink alcohol on stage During Match play all Players shall remain silent and only the Player at the Oche shall direct enquiries to the Scorer. No prompting shall be allowed by any other Player nor any spectator or Official A Player at the Oche is entitled to consult with the Scorer on the amount scored or required at any time during a throw. The Player shall not be advised on how to finish Any protest must be lodged with the Referee or Tournament Director at the time of the alleged violation so a judgement can for the Match to continue. Any late protests will not be considered If a Player s playing equipment becomes damaged during the course of a Throw then the Player shall be allowed to repair or replace the playing equipment. 15 TIE BREAK: 15.1 The Tie-Break principle is brought into operation when the Match result has reached equal number of wins for each player and a deciding leg has to be played Each Player shall throw for the Bull to determine which Player shall throw first in the last leg of the final set or game. The Player who threw second at the start of the Match shall throw first for the Bull The outcome will be based as per The Player who wins the last leg of the final set of a Match is the winner of that Match. 16 PLAYING ATTIRE: 16.1 Players are required to wear dress pants, preferably black however Players are not permitted to wear jeans, trousers or skirts made with denim or corduroy material. Dress shoes, all black joggers or similar are required and no other shoes will be allowed unless accompanied by a medical certificate for disabilities or injuries. 11 16.2 Players must wear a collared shirt only with no offensive slogans of any nature displayed No headgear other than on religious or medical grounds with written medical reasons from a qualified practitioner shall be worn without by the Player In all Darts Events the Playing Attire of any participating Player shall be subject to AusDarts or the Organising Clubs approval. Any unacceptable Playing Attire must be changed before that Player can participate in any introductions, Match play on stage or interviews and presentations Any Player refusing to meet with the Organising Clubs requirements in respect of that Player s Playing Attire shall be liable to forfeit that respective match and shall be reported to AusDarts for disciplinary proceedings to be considered. 17 SMOKING: 17.1 Smoking has been banned in most venues across Australia however should a tournament be played at a venue where smoking has been allowed then no Player or Official whilst engaged in a match being played shall be allowed to smoke. 18 ALCOHOL: 18.1 No alcoholic drinks shall be consumed in areas by any Player or Official whilst engaged in a Match being played No alcoholic drinks shall be allowed into the Playing Area by any Player or Official whilst engaged in a Match being played Any Player or Official found to be in breach of Clause 18.1 or 18.2 may be liable to forfeit that respective Match and shall be reported to AusDarts for disciplinary proceedings to be considered AusDarts shall reserve the right to prohibit the consumption of alcoholic drinks in any other Match under its jurisdiction if it is considered to be in the best interests of the promotion of the sport of Darts. 19 ANTI-DOPING: 19.1 AusDarts adopts a full anti-doping regime with regard to the Sport of Darts Drugs Testing - You may be concerned that if you have been prescribed medication for a medical condition it may affect your ability to participate in a Darts Event. Many prescribed drugs will not prevent you from competing, but some may If you as a Player are unsure of your prescribed medication then contact Ausdarts at the earliest opportunity so that you can compete without risk of failing a Drugs Test It is an individual s responsibility to ensure that he or she is safe to compete. The understanding of regulation is a personal liability and ignorance is no excuse. If you are unsure about how a drug may affect your ability to compete then seek advice before you enter into Ausdarts Tournaments. Date of Issue 1/7/2016 Revision due 30/6/2018 Page 11 of 12

12 20 DISCIPLINARY POWERS: 20.1 AusDarts has the following powers to discipline Members or Players for any breach of the AusDarts Rules To charge a Member or a Player with a breach of the AusDarts Rules To hear complaints from another Member, Official, Tournament Director or Member of the paying public in attendance that a Member or a Player has breached the AusDarts Rules To hear the charges or complaints and to determine whether a Member or a Player has breached the AusDarts Rules In such circumstances the person involved will be informed immediately by a member of AusDarts of the complaint The person or persons involved will be able to make representation to their view of events at any hearing conducted to deal with such complaints All penalties applied to a Player, Spectator or Official is enforceable by AusDarts and are applied without Prejudice or Malice and all decisions made are not subject to appeal.
