May 14-16, 2018 INDIANA BACK IN NCAA REGIONAL After a four year hiatus, Indiana head coach Mike Mayer returns to postseason play in with Jake Brown (Carmel, Ind.) competing as an individual at the Bryan Regional in Bryan, Texas. The regional is hosted by Texas A&M and will be played at Traditions Club from May Prior to Brown advancing to the Bryan Regional, the last time Indiana was represented in NCAA postseason play was 2013, when the Hoosiers advanced to the Greensboro Regional as a team. MAYER, HOOSIERS NO STRANGERS TO NCAA POSTSEASON Indiana head coach Mike Mayer is in his 20th season as the head coach of the Hoosiers and he is no stranger to NCAA Regional play. After taking over the reigns of the program for the season, he was able to rebuild the program and get it going in the right direction. That direction officially changed during the season when the Hoosiers advanced to the NCAA Central Regional. That regional appearance marked a run of nine appearances in regional play over the next 10 years, highlighted by an appearance in the NCAA Championship in All totaled, Mayer has had a player or team in the postseason in 12 of his 20 years as head coach at Indiana. SCHEDULE & RESULTS RECENT IU INDIVIDUALS IN NCAA POSTSEASON The last time Indiana sent an individual to an NCAA postseason was in 2007, when Jorge Campillo qualified For the NCAA Central Regional during his junior year. He went on to compete at Rich Harvest Farms in Illinois and finished tied for 72nd (235; ). And prior to Campillo, it was Jeff Overton going to the NCAA Regional in Manhattan, Kansas in He finished tied for 38th with a score of 218 ( ). BROWN BELONGS From the start of his career, redshirt junior Jake Brown has showed the potential to be a top collegiate golfer in the Big Ten. His progress has been steady from the day he stepped on campus and decided to take a redshirt year during the season. He came back to play every round of every tournament as a redshirt freshman in and led Indiana with a scoring average and his first collegiate win at the Hoosier Invitational. As a redshirt sophomore, his scoring average was nearly identical to the season prior (74.38) but he once again played every round of every tournament and had two Top 10 finishes. Coming into the season, Brown knew he was going to be looked upon to be the No. 1 guy on the team. He played every tournament but posted a scoring average of 72.59, which ranks as the 11th-best single-season average in IU history.
