3 The Jovante Woods Foundation On August 14th, 2010, Jovante Woods died suddenly from a severe asthma attack. Because of their loss, Jovante s parents, Ickey and Chandra, were inspired to educate and help prevent others from experiencing the loss of a loved one. The mission of the Jovante Woods Foundation is three-fold: Asthma Research & Awareness Establishing an ongoing endowment in Jovante s name to help fund critical asthma research. The foundation also works to bring asthma awareness to the community, nation and world, and to provide asthma screenings and education to families in need. Organ Donation Educate all on the importance of this gift of life. Education The 3.8 to be Great scholarship fund awards two scholarships to a male and female athlete with a 3.8 or greater GPA.
