2 Club House U P D A T E April was a great month for the Club. We had several successful golf tournaments, plus well attended membership events and dinner nights. Spring has sprung and we have great weather to play more golf. An important milestone for Rio Bravo is our successful and efficient aerification process as we continuously work to ensure that we have the best playing condition for our members. The second part of our Clubhouse renovation will start this week to change the banquet hallway carpet and update the banquet bar. Please bear with us for any inconveniences it may cause. We are almost half way into 2018 and we are just starting all the exciting events we planned for all the members to enjoy. I look forward to seeing you at the Club. Please don't hesitate to stop by and say "hello" or reach out for any questions or concerns. Your Rio Bravo Team is always here to listen and provide you the best service possible. 3 Golf Course U P D A T E Greens aerification is completed and I couldn t be more pleased with the results. The recovery is going well and we are back to mowing at normal heights. Our new equipment performed just as I had hoped and saved us a lot of labor and time. The maintenance staff was impressed with how smooth the operation went and was happy with the machinery we purchased. We also have completed the first aerification and fertilization of the tee s. We have started aerifying the fairways, but unfortunately the tractor that pulls the aerifier for fairways broke down and is out for repairs. Once repaired, we will continue with the fairway aerification.

4 We have also sprayed greens for the silvery thread moss that we have been battling all winter. Results are looking good and the hope is that with our new controller system and being more diligent with the amount of water being applied to greens, that we can keep the moss at bay. We will be applying fertilizer to the fairways and inner roughs to promote a healthier strand of Bermuda this summer. This will be done aggressively through the next few months. 5 The Golfers Corner T H E C L O C K P U T T I N G D R I L L S This month s lesson is on Putting: Here is a simple drill to help improve your distance control and speed while improving your ability to make short putts. 1. Begin by placing three balls in a line at three, six, and nine feet from the hole like the twelve, three, six and nine positions on a clock. The goal is to make all twelve in a row. If you miss any putt, then go back to the beginning and start over. Please be warned! This drill can be very frustrating in the beginning but once you have mastered this drill you will defiantly see the results on the golf course. Note to members. April was a very busy month for Rio Bravo. I personally would like to thank all of you for your patience and understanding as we try to promote the club through outside events.
