2 Golf News Superintendent News What a wonderful summer for growing grass! In the 8 years I have been here, this is the best the course has looked. It is amazing what plenty of water can do for your course. he only negative is the greens have not been as fast as we like, but, based on conversations it seems not many have a problem with that! his is the time of the year when I begin to prepare the budget for If you have any suggestions of course improvements, please let me know or talk to any of the Golf/Grounds committee members. Of course, we would love to accommodate every idea, but, always remember we will choose the most important based on the budget number the club allows. Attention Berkeley Hills Members Just a Reminder: Private Functions must be paid in full upon completion of your event. Credit/debit card authorizations will be required to secure payment. Any accounts not paid in full will be subject to all applicable late fees for past due accounts as outlined in the Berkeley Hills By-Laws. I would like to personally thank Mike Cromer for donating a pallet and a half of Zeon Zoysia to the maintenance department. Where we put it does not affect everyone, but, with Mike being a Black ee player, we laid it around the 15th Black ee where the traffic had deteriorated the outside edge and also laid it on the tongue of the fairway bunker of #15 where the Bermuda grass had not thrived. Chris Purvis From the Golf Professional We have had some great events since our last newsletter! he Men played the Berkeley Classic at the end of June. We had a great field and a great tournament again this year. Ray Perez and Brooks Colquitt are the Gross Champs. ed Wyerman and Dan Settle are the Net Champs. Jack Fitzmier and Paul White won the Masters Division. Congrats to all the winners and thank you to all who played in the tournament again this year! he Ladies played their Member-Guest on June 20. What a grand event the ladies had! Many thanks to Pat Krautler, Barbara Luckhurst, and ABOVE: Ladies Member Guest all the ladies who gave their time to make this event one of the best tournaments. Complete results are included in the newsletter. he Championship at Berkeley Hills was played July 8 & 9. he event consists of Georgia PGA Professionals and Amateurs from all over the state of Georgia. he tournament was won by an amateur for the first year. Gus Wagner is our champion. Gus played his first three years of college golf at Armstrong University in Savannah and has transferred to Georgia State University for his final year. We look forward to seeing Gus on the range at Berkeley Hills. We have some great events on the calendar in July and August including the men s and ladies Club Championships and also the men s LEF: Gus Wagner, Classic at Berkeley Hills Champion
