If you have sufficient balance in your KMC account, you can sign up for tournaments on the website prior to the deadline, as well as any side pots. Since we pay the City in advance, if we have less than two weeks notice, you may forfeit your entry fee if we cannot fill your spot from the wait list. or call one of the Co-Tournament Chairman Michael Boling or Bob Grassia (see Pg. 1) to withdraw and then or call the Treasurer Steve Lacks (see Pg. 1) to arrange for a credit toward future events. You can also withdraw from a tournament through your KMC Account, as long as it is before the entry deadline. NO-SHOW IN TEAM EVENTS In the event that a team member is a no-show, on the day of the tournament, the Committee will do its best to come up with a way to still include the team in the regular tournament results. This may include blind drawing a player from another team to complete a score, one player on the team playing 2 balls, etc. Rules for this will be set on the day of the tournament and available at the check-in table on the daily tournament rules sheet. ALL decisions will be FINAL. NOTE: Because of the importance of maintaining the integrity of our team tournaments, no-shows at any team tournaments may be barred from participating in future team tournaments. Also see the Calcutta Auction Events section on page 8. 3

GETTING YOUR TOURNAMENT TEE TIME Tee Times will be available the Wednesday prior to Saturday events, and Thursday prior to Sunday events. They will be ed to members and be available on our website at In the event that you do not have an or access to the Internet, on the Thursday prior to the tournament, you may call the Pro Shop of the course we are playing for the given event. Use the following numbers: Kennedy Pro Shop: Wellshire Pro Shop: TOURNAMENT CHECK-IN You MUST check in AT LEAST 30 MINUTES prior to your tee time (one hour prior on Sept. 24th, for the Red White & Blue). This will give you time to familiarize yourself with the Rules of Play for the day and get to the first tee on time. If you fail to check-in on time, your spot WILL be given to someone on stand-by. If you are running late or cannot play, contact the Pro Shop to alert the Committee or contact one of the Co-Tournament Chairmen to advise us of your situation. We would like your help and cooperation in limiting the check-in table to ONE PERSON AT A TIME. We believe this will help make everyone s day more pleasant by relieving stress and eliminating entry / accounting mistakes. HANDICAPS For Net (handicapped) events, your most recent USGA Home Course Index (adjusted for the course slope) will be used. If you have questions how this works, please contact the KMC Handicap Chairman James Eck Jr. (see Pg. 1). In team events, your handicap will be reduced to 80% or 90% according to the CGA (Colorado Golf Assn) and USGA Team Play Guidelines. NOTE: The Committee may, at any time during the season, adjust a club member s handicap under any circumstance it feels necessary to do so. Before any adjustment, the Committee will explain the reasons to the player and will give the player an opportunity to explain any circumstances applicable to the proposed adjustment. POSTING SCORES In all of our tournaments, our handicap chairman will post the scores for every participant. For any other casual round of golf that you play, YOU MUST post your score. The GHIN system will be available for you to start posting scores on March 15 th of Any member, who is found to be playing casual rounds of golf and not posting those scores, could be subject to a handicap adjustment by both the KMC Handicap Chairman and the CGA/USGA. Remember you can post your scores at the course the day you play or you can post scores online at New Members: In our first tournament, Apr. 9 th, we will have an extra flight just for new members who don t have a USGA handicap. In order for you to participate in our second tournament on May 3 rd, you MUST have at least 5 scores posted under your GHIN number. 6 Kennedy Men s Club Local Rules Aeration Holes If a ball comes to rest in an aeration hole, the player may, without penalty, lift the ball and clean it. Anywhere through the green, the player shall drop the ball as near as possible to where it lay, but not nearer the hole. On the putting green, the player shall place the ball at the nearest spot not nearer the hole, which avoids the situation. Embedded Ball - Anywhere through the green a ball which is embedded in its own pitch-mark in the ground may be lifted without penalty, cleaned and dropped as near as possible to the spot it lay but not nearer the hole (See Rule 20). Through the green is the whole area of the course except: 1) Teeing ground and putting green of the Hole being played; 2) All Hazards on the Course. Ball Out of Bounds - If it is reasonable that a Player s ball may be out of bounds, the Player should play a provisional ball (do not forget to announce that it is a provisional ball before you hit it). When playing with the Kennedy Men s Club only, if a player discovers his ball is out of bounds and he didn t play a provisional ball, he may drop within two club lengths of the area where his fellow competitors deem the ball may have last crossed the out of bounds line and add a Penalty of 2 Strokes. Lost Ball - If it is reasonable that a Player s ball may be lost in bounds or outside of a hazard, the Player should play a provisional ball (do not forget to announce that it is a provisional ball before you hit it). When playing with the Kennedy Men s Club only. If a player discovers his ball is lost and it is probable that the ball did not go out of bounds or into a hazard, he may play it as an unplayable ball from the spot where his fellow competitors deem the ball may be lost and add a Penalty of 1 Stroke. All options under the unplayable ball rule apply (Rule 28). If you hit a provisional and you don t find your ball, play the provisional. You have five minutes to look for a lost ball. When In Doubt - Many times on the course, situations arise where a player or group is not certain of a ruling or how a player should proceed in a given situation. When playing with the Kennedy Men s Club only, if you find yourself in question, you should play two balls, for the given situation for the remainder of that hole. Then on your card, note each score you made with each ball and get a ruling from the committee at the conclusion of your round. Distance-Measuring devices are allowed in all Tournaments according to the USGA. For all Kennedy Men s Club events, a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. However, if during a stipulated round a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., gradient, wind-speed, temperature, elevation change, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional functions are actually used. For Tournaments At J.F. Kennedy Golf Course #13 Anybody that hits their tee shot into the hazard and either does not find their ball or chooses to not even look for it may use the & drop area adding 1 stroke. On #13, the drop area will be on the other side of the creek in the rough just short of the fairway. On #15 #15 the drop area will be in front of the tee boxes down a bit in the fairway. Both drop areas will be marked with 2 orange sprinkler flags that will say Kennedy Men s Club Drop Area Only. Drop within 2 club lengths behind and between the flags. #17 For any ball you hit left and beyond the Weed Line along the entire length of the hole: If you find your ball you may play it as it lies and provided your ball does not move, moving loose impediments and grounding your club is acceptable. If you do not find your ball or you do find it but deem it as unplayable, determine the point where the ball crossed the Weed Line, drop within 2 club lengths of that point no nearer the hole and add a penalty of 1 stroke. Relief may be taken from any artificially surfaced road or path. (Decision 24/9 - A road or path to which any foreign material, e.g., concrete, tar, gravel, wood chips, etc. has been applied is artificially surfaced and thus an obstruction. For Tournaments At Wellshire Golf Course #10 The weed line at the base of the dam defines Out Of Bounds. Pond in the middle of the fairway is a Water Hazard. #18 For any Tee shot hit into the hazard, the drop area is the Women s Tee Box If your ball ends up in any Conservation / No-Mow area, you may enter any of these areas on foot. If you find your ball, you may play it as it lies and provided your ball does not move, moving loose impediments and grounding your club is acceptable. If you don t find your ball or you do find it but deem it as unplayable, determine the point where the ball entered the area, drop within 2 club lengths of that point no nearer the hole and add a penalty of 1 stroke. Absolutely NO CARTS (motorized or push) are allowed into ANY Conservation /No-Mow areas!! Relief may be taken from any artificially surfaced road or path. (Decision 24/9 - A road or path to which any foreign material, e.g., concrete, tar, gravel, wood chips, etc. has been applied is artificially surfaced and thus an obstruction. 6

SLOW PLAY Score Card Must Be Punched after 9 & 18 Ready Golf Play Ready Golf Ready Golf Play Ready Golf Ready Golf Play Ready Golf It is the obligation of every player to play without delay and to keep up with the group ahead of them. Here are a few pointers we ask you to follow: Be aware that you are behind so that you can do things that will help you catch up: Forget the honors system of who s shot it is and play READY GOLF EVERYWHERE ON THE COURSE! Don't delay on the greens. Read your putt quickly and/or while someone else is putting. Once you have started putting, please continue until you have holed out if it doesn t interfere with another players line. If you are the first one to finish putting, go ahead to the next hole and tee off. Pay attention to any and all errant shots to possibly avoid having to use a full 5 minutes looking for the ball. If you are walking, please quicken your step. If you are riding and have the opportunity to make a play before your walking companions are ready, please do. Remember Ready Golf. Each group MUST have their scorecard time stamped by the starter at the beginning of the round. Each group MUST also have the group marshal time stamp the scorecard at * THE SCORING TABLE AFTER 9 HOLES AND at the COMPLETION of the round. NOTE: Please do not stamp your card until your entire group is finished putting out on # 9 AND on # 18. It is not fair to the group behind you if you stamp before your group is finished. After stamping your card at the completion of your round, ensure all players sign the card and the totals are accurate and then turn it into the scoring committee without delay. If you are 15 minutes or less behind the group in front of you after #9 OR your TOTAL play time on the front 9 is no more than 2 hours and 15 minutes, no penalty. If you are 15 minutes OR less behind the group in front of you after #18 OR your total play time on the back 9 is no more than 2 hours and 15 minutes, no penalty. Groups in breach of the above statements will receive a 1 stroke penalty for either 9 where their time stamps don t comply. (2 stokes MAX) No time stamp after either 9, will result in a 1 stroke penalty for that 9. 2 strokes if no time stamps after either 9. Chronically slow players may be subject to censure and/or refusal to renew their memberships for the following year. Aside from just our designated Group Marshal, let s all take it upon ourselves to be Group Marshals, help each other out with difficult situations that slow the pace and do what we can, as soon as we can to move on and make our next play! We, as a club, have to do our part to make our tournament process faster. If you have a routine for practicing your game, include ways that you can make it faster. We have many great members and a great golf club and we are depending on everyone's integrity to take this to heart and make it the best golf club in the city. 7

CALCUTTA AUCTION EVENTS The 2 Man / 2 Day (June 4 th & 5 th ) and 2 Man / 2 Day (Sept 10 th & 11 th ) tournaments will BOTH have an extra cash payout for the top 4 teams in each Calcutta flight. The Calcutta Cash Pots will be built from money taken in for the sale of each team at the Calcutta Auctions. We will gather at 6:30 PM at Kennedy Restaurant on the Friday evenings prior to these tournaments Friday, June 3 rd for the first 2-Man Tournament, and Friday, September 9 th for the second 2-Man Tournament. Players may buy teams in hopes that those teams will finish in one of the top four places in the tournament. Often players bid in syndicates to improve their buying power. The Owner(s) of the top 4 teams will win the Calcutta pots in the following breakdown (40%, 30%, 20%, and 10%). Both 2 Man Calcutta events will have two separate Calcutta pots. Prior to the start of the tournament, if a team does not own the full interest in their team, they have the option to buy back a half interest in their team for half the bid price by making arrangements directly with the person who bought the team. The Committee assumes no responsibility for buy-backs. There will be several thousand dollars at stake, so it is IMPERATIVE that all players who sign up to play show up to the tournament and not eliminate their team from the Calcutta. ANY team(s) who ends up with a member who is a NO-SHOW will be EXCLUDED from the Calcutta portion of the payouts. Money spent on the purchase of the team(s) with a no-show will be refunded IN FULL to the owner(s) of the team(s). Because of the importance of maintaining the integrity of these Calcutta events, players who are no-shows at these tournaments may be barred from participating in future team events. 8

Extra Club Tournaments CLUB MATCH PLAY TOURNAMENT This is a season-long event that is open to all members for a one-time $10.00 entry fee. The field will be divided into four flights and each player will play with his current course handicap at the time of the match wheeling off the lower handicap player. It is each player s responsibility to declare his proper handicap on the first tee at the beginning of the Match (see Rule 6-2a). The final day to sign up is May 21 st. The Brackets will come out shortly after that date, with the schedule to complete each round. You may enter the Match Play tournament at the tournament check-in table or see pages 11 and 12. It is imperative that matches be played prior to the deadlines in order to keep everything on schedule. It is the player s responsibility to arrange their matches. If arrangements can t be made, both players may be disqualified. Your one-time charge of $10.00 will be for prize money. Contact Chris Strubel (See Pg. 1) for more information. BELFAIRS TOURNAMENT This is a season long event that is open to all members for a one-time $10.00 entry fee. It is an individual flighted and handicapped (one-half of USGA handicap index, including decimal) tournament. This is played simultaneously with our regular tournament schedule. This year there are ELEVEN eligible tournaments days. You will pick anywhere from 3 to 6 scores from any tournament of your choice as long as the tournament is an individual or better ball format at Kennedy or Wellshire. The Red, White and Blue Tournament on 9/24 will NOT be eligible for Belfairs posting. Before the Men s club tournament, you must declare it to count as one of your Belfairs rounds. At the check-in table for the tournament, there will be a sign up sheet for you to declare that it will be a Belfairs round. After your first Belfairs round, you must post no fewer than 3 but not more than 6 scores. Those scores will now be locked in and can t later be improved upon. Each subsequent Belfairs round is the same as the first on not yet locked in holes, post at least 3 but not more than 6 scores at the conclusion of the round. This continues until you have locked in all eighteen scores. NOTE: To be eligible for prize money, you MUST lock in 18 scores. This can be accomplished in as few as 3 tournaments. It is your responsibility to track your progress so you know what holes are locked in and what holes you still need to post. Make sure you keep track and get all 18 scores! To be eligible to play in this tournament, you must register and pay by the July 10 th tournament. You may enter the Belfairs tournament at the tournament check-in table or see pages 11 and 12. Your one-time charge of $10.00 will be for prize money. The number of flights will be determined by the number of entries in the tournament. At least two players from each flight will receive payouts. Again, you MUST notify the tournament check-in table by putting your name on the Belfairs sheet BEFORE the round on days you will post Belfairs tournament scores. After the round, post your 3 to 6 hole scores on the Belfairs sheet at the tournament scoreboards and on your personal score tracking sheet. One-Half of your first USGA handicap index computed after October 1, 2016 will be the handicap used for the entire tournament. If you have any questions, contact Chris Strubel (See Pg. 1) for more information. 9
