Yale Secondary Coach Thurmond on Nick: I ve never coached anyone that can raise his game so much in difficult conditions and high pressure situations. Nick can hit the best shot at the biggest moment. He hits the ball amazingly straight and really controls his distances and spin. He can do things with a wedge that no one else can do. He has improved his putting this year and as he continues to do that he will get better and better. 4 RICHARD Junior Bellevue, Wash. Newport COURSES & FACILITES LEE Coach Thurmond on Richard: 2009 OUTLOOK Richard does everything right. He is not a flashy player, but is very steady. He hits good shot after good shot, makes really mature decisions on the course, makes few mistakes. He has tremendous emotional discipline and control which gives him a huge advantage against most college players. He can play with anyone in the country. He has very high expectations that push him to keep improving all the time. He is really good with his short irons and pitching. As he controls his misses a little better and makes quicker adjustments on the course he will take his game to another level. 6 CHRIS KILLMER CHRIS KILLMER S CAREER STATISTICS DNP CAREER Junior Bellingham, Wash. Bellingham Coach Thurmond on Chris: It is great to have Chris back, and he is better than ever. He has a new perspective and maturity that allows him to stay very level-headed in competition. That has brought more consistency to his game. He has a swing that really repeats and he rarely misses the center of the clubface. He showed an ability to win at the Husky Invitational and an ability to go low at the Prestige. At Corde Valle he showed he can hang in there when conditions are tough and the game isn t sharp. He is looking really good and I just love the energy he brings to the team. I m so proud of the progress he has made from last year. He works so hard and competes with everything he s got. This Fall he played some excellent rounds when the team most needed him. His swing continues to improve and his ability to score comes with that. And he is an amazing ping pong player. Frankly, he hasn t been playing very well, but he still can get it around and into the hole. As he sharpens up some things in his game this Spring, he will really take a step up in performance. He can hit the ball very consistently off the tee. He has settled in nicely this year and I think we ll see great things from him in the Spring. Shorecrest Coach Thurmond on Jens: It is rare for a freshman to have enough confidence to finish 3rd in their first event. Jens has that confidence. He hits the ball so far and is solid in the rest of his game. He loves to compete. If he can control his misses and just control his ball flight a little better he can be great. Putter: Scotty Cameron At Washington Made a a hole-in-one on the 267-yard 12th hole of the 2008 Husky Invitational at Gold Mountain and finished tied for 3rd place his first career tournament as a Husky Freshman Brush Prairie, Wash. Brush Prairie Coach Thurmond on Ty: Ty brings a wonderful positive energy to the team. He hits the ball straight and works hard. Now that he is settling in he will see his game really develop a lot. He has high expectations and learns quickly. His entire game is solid and with just a little sharpening he will shoot lots of good scores.
