The Carrollton Golf and Tennis Tournament is coming on. Undoubtedly one of the most fun events hosted by the school, this tournament now boasts players that have not missed the outing in the last seven years since it became an annual landmark in the school calendar. The general wisdom is once you come the first time you are hooked on the enjoyment and excitement. This year we are returning to Key Biscayne but moving the start time to the afternoon so we can enjoy the awards banquet in the early evening hours, overlooking Miami and its splendid sunsets. Carrollton is deeply indebted to the sponsors, participants and leadership of this event. In the last seven years, nearly a quarter of a million dollars has been raised in support of our entire athletic program. The direct beneficiaries have been 11 High School and nine Junior High sports, not to mention the developmental programs for the younger students. The results are palpable as we witnessed team after team compete all the way to the state finals. Last year, Carrollton athletes reached state finals competition in golf, cross country, diving, swimming and tennis. Carrollton s mission, to educate women leaders filled with courage and confidence, is advanced by a strong athletic program that offers opportunities for leadership, discipline, team work, sportsmanship and fulfilling personal goals. This is not a mission we can undertake alone. It requires the partnership we enjoy with all our current families, alumnae and corporate friends.
