2 SUNDAY MEN S CLUB 2017 Speed of Play Policy On the first tee Punch your scorecard(s) upon leaving the first tee box. After putting out on #18 Punch your scorecard(s) and drop in usual box in golf shop. Target = 4.5 hours or less! On Shotgun start days Punch your scorecard(s) and drop in usual box in golf shop. 1st offense 2nd offense 3rd offense Warning for all players in group. 2 stroke penalty for all players in group. Disqualified from that days games. The time clock will be on the #1 tee until all groups have teed off. Then it will be moved into the golf shop on the counter next to the box for scorecards. On Shotgun start days, the time clock will be in the golf shop. For example; if the shotgun is at 8:00am, then the target time will be 12:45pm. This allows you time to get out onto your respective starting hole. If your group is behind a group that is playing slow; no offense will occur provided your group doesn t lose any time to the slow group. Things you can do to help! Hit your next shot before helping someone search for a ball. BE READY TO MOVE FORWARD ONCE THE SEARCH IS OVER Prepare to hit your next shot while someone is hitting their shot. GET YOUR YARDAGE, SELECT CLUB, READING PUTTS, ETC Make adjustments to your routine that take excessive time. LIMIT THE NUMBER OF PRACTICE SWINGS, TIME SPENT GETTING YARDAGE Speed of play is the responsibility of EVERYONE!

4 Sunday Men s Club 2017 Tournament Formats On the 2017 schedule you ll find the date, time of start, type of start (Tee Times or Shotgun), format, handicap percentage and FredEx Points to be awarded. Tees All player s play from the BLUE TEES unless the format on the scorecard dictates otherwise. Handicap Percentage This is the percent of your handicap (based on the current revision) that will be used for the particular date and format. Low Index Your low index from the previous 12 months of the current revision will determine your handicap. Low Index handicaps are used for bigger events and/or majors. FredEx Points This is the amount of points offered each week based on the format. Standard weekly events have a regular point value. Monthly Masters are double the regular point values. The two majors (Pres. Cup & Club Championship) have an even bigger point value than the double point values. FORMATS Handicap Stoke Play The total strokes taken for 18 holes, in accordance with the rules of golf. Tips (Black Tees) All players tee off from the black tees for the entire round. 2 Man Scramble (member/guest) Each player tees off on each hole. The best of the two tee shots is selected and both players play their second shots from that spot. The better of the second shots is determined, and then both play their third shots from that spot, and so on until the ball is holed. In the event of a tie, a playoff will occur. A horserace will follow morning play and scoring. 2 Man Scramble In a scramble, each player tees off on each hole. 5 4-Man 2-Net Best Ball Each player, on the 4-man team, plays his own golf ball the entire round. Each team should have four 18- hole scores on the scorecard. The two lowest net scores, or best balls, from each hole serves as the teams score for each hole Modified Stableford Point values are given based on the net score for each hole. Double Eagle 8 pts Eagle 5 pts Birdie 3 pts Par 1 pt Bogie -1 pt Dbl Bogie or worse -3 pts 4 Man Scramble In a scramble, each player tees off on each hole. White/Blue/Black Tees Like individual stroke play with one exception. A color coded scorecard provided designates which tee box you hit from on specific holes. i.e. 1st hole white tees, 2nd hole blue tees, 3rd hole black tees, 4th hole back to white tees and etc. 2 Man Best Ball 1 Day Match Play Each player, on the 2-man team, plays his own golf ball the entire round. Each team should have two 18- hole scores on the scorecard. The low net score, or best ball, from each hole serves as the teams score for each hole. Scorecards are matched, by a draw, and scored in a match play bracketed format. 18-Hole Par 3 s All 18 holes will be set as Par 3 s resulting in a par 54 course for the day. You Pick (Red/White/Black) 18 hole Stroke Play. You decide which 6 hole s are played from the RED Tees, which 6 holes are played from the White Tees and which 6 holes are played from the BLACK Tees. Handicaps based off of white tees Monthly Masters A monthly tournament to determine qualifiers for the year end Master of the Masters. Two flights will be determined on the day of the tournament based on those playing. Winner(s) of each flight are entered in the Master of the Masters portion of the playoffs towards the end of the season. If a winner of a previous monthly masters wins again, he will win the prize money but the second place finisher will be entered in as the qualifier to ensure a competitive field. If for any reason the winner of a monthly masters cannot participate in the scheduled playoffs, the player who came in second for the same flight in that particular month will be entered in the tournament. This process will be followed until the player s spot is filled. The same process holds true for the finals.

6 Presidents Cup* - (Major) An eclectic format is a multi-round golf tournament that results in one 18-hole score per player. Players play 2 rounds. The lowest score made on each hole between the two rounds is recorded as their score producing an 18-hole score. Example: in Round 1, the golfer makes a 6 on hole No. 1; in Round 2, a 4 on hole No. 1. That golfer's score for the first hole is a 4. In the event of a tie, a playoff will occur. Club Championship** - (Major) A 36 hole cumulative stroke play event that will be played on Saturday and Sunday of the same weekend. Both days will be a shotgun start. Round 1 will be paired with like handicaps. Round 2 will be paired based on Round 1 s gross score. In the event of a tie, a playoff will occur. * In order to play in the President s Cup, you must have played in at least three (3) SOMC scheduled events. ** In order to play in the Club Championship, you must have played in at least five (5) SOMC scheduled events. Rev. 11/28/2016 Silver Oak Sunday Men s Club 2017 FredEx Cup Definition The Silver Oak Sunday Men s Club (SOMC) 2017 FredEx Cup, named after our club s founding member Fred Coons, is a season long point s race event culminating in a one day tournament play-off to determine the qualifiers for the NNGA 6-Man Team Event in September The 2017 FredEx Cup season begins on March 19 th and run through September 3 rd. Points will be awarded every week based on how many players are in the field (See points chart below). The way the points are distributed is similar to the way the PGA Tour does it. Everyone is assured of earning points even if they did not win or place in the money that week. Each flight plays for first place points. The objective of earning points throughout the year is to finish the season in the top 20 places inclusive of ties. The top 20 point earners, including ties, will qualify for the play-offs on September 10, The point leader as of September 4, 2017 will be awarded the 2017 FredEx Cup. In the event of a tie in points, the FredEx Cup 18-hole playoff on September 10 th will be used for a tie break including extra holes if necessary. On September 10, 2017, the day of the play-off, all qualifiers points are reset to zero. The field is divided in half based on handicaps of the field of participants. The top two finishers in each of the two flights qualify for the 6-Man Team. In the event a qualifier can not play in the 6-Man event, the next qualifying player in that flight will qualify. If there s a tie for 3 rd place in a flight, a scorecard playoff starting on #1 handicap hole continuing until tie is broken. (rev. 11/28/2016)
