Click here SLC NEWSLETTER 17TH JANUARY 2018 Code of Conduct We understand sometimes members might be frustrated by the pace of play, or by other things that may happen during or after your round, however there is no excuse for the frustrations to result in behaviour that is not in line with our Code of Conduct. We have recently witnessed a couple of incidents which require the reinforcement of the Club s Code of Conduct, as stated on our website; The Sanctuary Lakes Club Code of Conduct has been developed to ensure a safe, friendly and respectful environment for Members and Visitors to gather socially in the spirit of cooperation, relaxation, good will, enjoyment and friendly competition and to provide a safe and enjoyable workplace for staff and contractors. The Code applies to all areas of the Club. At a minimum we are all expected to Act in a proper, professional, non-aggressive and non-abusive manner at all times; and to comply with and adhere to all reasonable directives and requests of Club staff, Club representatives, Board Members or contractors. As stated above (and in more detail on our website) this applies to all areas of the Club and Course, and protects Golf Shop, administration, course and food and beverage contracted or direct employees. Behaviours contrary to the above stated code will not be tolerated, and the Board and Management reserve the right to discipline and suspend where necessary Members, their guests and any visitors who act in a way deemed unacceptable. Monthly Medal on Saturday Reminder that this weekend is January s monthly medal, postponed from earlier due to inclement weather.
Golf Results A total of 14 lovely ladies turned up for the January 9 ladies stableford competition. Louise Didham came out on top with an excellent 38 points which lowered her handicap. Choy Hong yet again won the NTP on the second hole. A massive 114 entered Wednesdays stableford competition. Cameron Gaunt managed to claim A grade with a fantastic score of 41 points. Jason McClintock took advantage of the early morning conditions, and even cracked open a cold one on the second hole, won B grade with a score of 41 points. Barry Watters took out C grade with 38 points on a countback over John Grimaud. The ever improving Mitch Waugh hit a fantastic shot on the dreaded 11th hole to claim the Pro Pin. Rob Koers yet again won Saturday mornings A grade Par competition with a solid score of +2. Andre Kruger won B grade with a fantastic +5 and savvy veteran Rob McMain won C grade on a countback over fellow vet Chris Gibbins. Congratulations to Mark Grimsditch, Trevor Hillier, Brett Mcgeown and Stewart Clark who won the How Low Can You Go Ambrose challenge with a score of 60. Runners up were Raffael Toperoso, Peter Toperoso, Anthony Dimichele and Michael Dimichele on 61. Another big congratulations to Shaun Smith, Kerry Hansford, Andrew Morgan and Sally Schott who took out the Nett.
Cooler summer conditions greeted all players for Sundays Stableford competition. Ben McIlwain, Michael Lawler, and Sebastian Snopcynski won A, B, and C grades respectively with 39, 36 and 37. The Pro Pin on the 6th hole was won by Rob Laski who saw a handy 86 dollars head into his account. North West Pennant update: Our boys comfortably defeated Eyensbury 7-4, excellent stuff guys! Good luck to the squad this weekend at Bacchus Marsh. Vets monthly medal winner for January was Kee Lim. Vets A Grade Winner was Alan Pilkington with 41. Runners up Phil Cartledge, Robert Maluga and Alan Paterson with 40. B Grade Winners Frank de kusel and Graham Satterley with 41 and runners up Frank Fosdick Andrew Vizard and Ho K Chun with 40.
Call Up on the 2nd, 6th and 17th holes In an effort to improve the speed of play the M&G will be trialling compulsory call up on the 2nd, 6th and 17th holes. Calling up on a Par 3 gives the field some space to spread out. In order to work properly the process will be as follows: The group will only call up the group behind them when all of that group s balls have reached the green and been marked The group on the tee must have reached the tee before the first player in the group on the green has putted The group on the green must stand in the Call up zone this will be sign posted and if in doubt stand off the back of the green out of the line of the flag Due to safety reasons, a well-considered call up zone for the 11th hole will be decided at a later date Call ups on holes 2, 6 and 17 will be compulsory for all members Daniel Valente Clinics Putting - Wednesday and Thursday 5:30pm

Clint's Weekly Tip Rotation One of the key ingredients to a good ball striker is body rotation. Rotation of your upper and lower body on the backswing will allow your body to unwind and delivery of the club through impact to create club head speed and face stability. In other words, the more your rotate on your backswing the more your body will react and rotate through to the end of your swing.
How do we rotate? First of all I like to test range of motion, I perform this with some Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) screening tests. Very simple tests include a sitting thoracic test (upper body range) and a internal/external hip rotation test under load (lower body range). This helps establish how much turn you have, most of us aren t hypermobile or even have a range of movement that is considered in the acceptable range in the tests and that is fine. So when we rotate back to the top of the backswing we can use all of our body, from head to toe! We can get range of movement to rotate from our ankles, knees, hips, thoracic, shoulders, neck and unweighting the lead heel (left heel for right handed golfers) can give you the freedom to rotate. I think you get the idea, we don t need to just rotate with the upper body. To not utilise the available range you have through your lower body is robbing yourself of a good turn. There was a period where coaches claimed that golfers need to resist against the lower body to coil in the backswing and create X-Factor. Simply put this is the separation between upper body and lower body, but the key to this is when it happens. That separation happens most efficiently in transition, that s next weeks tip let s just getting you rotating to start with! Drill: 1 - Stand completely upright evenly balanced with a club across your shoulders and no golf posture.
2 - Rotate around your spine feeling your body rotate through ankle, knee, hips, thoracic, shoulders, neck, resulting in a 90 degree shoulder turn at the top. For those really limited in range can feel the lead heel slightly lift off the ground. 3 - Add golf posture for set up, feel the same rotation, right hip will work back and up away from the ball. Hips and shoulders work on an angle and not flat, knees will also change flex. Don t try to maintain knee flex and resist with your lower body, this is what stalls your rotation.
You can see below this student on the right struggled to turn and with testing, a change of concept and utilising the physical range that can be used you can see how much turn he can actually achieve. I recommend doing this drill in front of a mirror to start with to see how much turn you create and to ensure you aren t moving laterally on the backswing. Next week we need to transition all that new found turn! Book a Lesson Mizuno Fitting Day
