We had a wonderful November featuring a new event, Dinner with Chef Tim which was a fun & interactive night for all. As always, our classics such as Vendor Day, Prime Rib Night and Thanksgiving to go were a well participated time at the club. A Special thank you to the WGA for the invite to a pleasant night of dinner and socializing. Our Pot O Golf finale was December 1 st, with our 2015 winner Edgar Fernandez! Congrats and thank you for always supporting the club. December is full of great events and a time to celebrate! 3 M ONTGO ME RY COUNTRY CLUB T EE TIME S NE WSLETTE R P AGE 3 It seems that every year goes by faster than the last and this year has been no different. Another golfing season has come to an end and another holiday season has begun which means holiday decorating! Hopefully everyone had a fun and safe Thanksgiving with their friends and families and now we get to look forward to Christmas! Hopefully everyone can take advantage of the great weather we are having this fall by still getting out on the course and getting some more rounds in before the really cold weather comes. Luckily we have not had too many frost delays this year but I am sure they will be more consistent before too long. Currently we dictate our maintenance on the course by the number of rounds we do and if we are going through any freezing and thawing cycles. We will be changing the pin locations as needed and no longer on a routine schedule, greens will be top-dressed, water coolers will be brought in for the season and greens rolling will only be done when the soil profile is not frozen. Now that the holiday decorating is done we will continue with course cleanup over the winter. There are still some areas with leaves in the flower beds, native grasses have to be cut back and some much needed pruning in trees to be completed. We will also be putting the irrigation system to bed for the season by draining it and then blowing out the system. Another practice we tried last year was using our deep tine aerifier in areas that really get compacted and also help some areas drain a little better. By using this machine we can go almost 10 to 12 inches deep which really helps with root growth. We will also be looking at some bunkers and the problems we had with liner becoming exposed which seems to be a never ending battle. We always have a lot to do to the equipment as well to help us have a great start to next season. On another note we have also had some frosty mornings already so make sure you check out the course conditions on the website for any estimated delays or call the pro-shop for updates. Also please visit my blog to see pictures of course projects and any updates with what we are doing at the club. In closing please remember to fix your ball marks and one other, replace your divots, rake the bunkers after you have entered them and place the rake in the bunker parallel with how the hole is being played. We have some wonderful social events planned this month. Our Ugly Sweater Night is Friday, December 4th. Just wear your best sweater and have fun!! It s just that easy. Wednesday, December 16th is the Member Holiday Party. We have some NEW events planned for this special occasion. For the White Elephant gift exchange, please bring a gift valued at $10 or under. Open Bar is from 6:30pm until 7:30pm with dinner immediately to follow. Please remember this is an Adults Only and Members Only event. Please be sure to reserve before Monday, December 14th. The club will be closing at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 24th and will be closed the entire day on Friday, December 25th. I will be meeting with the social committee on Wednesday, December 9th to hear their suggestions for special events in the winter months. Please keep an eye on our e- news blast for upcoming events.
