Patriotism is in the air, August and September are the months which inspire i t. Ou r m e m bers c e lebrated th e Independence day with an impressive Flag Hoisting ceremony in the club. While this issue of Network might still be in print, De fence of Pa k istan Da y wil l b e enthusiastically celebrated on its eve. We bow our head to Almighty who has provided us with the wonderful and abundant country with loving and industrious people. 3 Swimming Fun Gala 2015 by Swimming Pool Swimming is always like fun for Karachi Club s children and Fun Gala is just like a festival to them. As the summer is gradually fading away the Swimming Pool Sub decided to bid adieu to the season with a blast and so they organized Swimming Fun Gala at Karachi Club Main on 1st August. Likewise every year unlimited forms of participation were received. The children of all ages, dressed in their swimming costumes were present at the Swimming Pool with full energy and enthusiasm. Exciting segments such as Ball Collection, Coin Finding, Tyre Tube Race and Underwater Race were held, followed by the Water Polo which was the most awaited event of the day. As the evening approached the children packed up their bags and relaxed to enjoy the cool atmosphere with light music. It was yet another tremendous event organized by Convenor Swimming Pool, Muhammad Yaseen Ozri and his team and it was witnessed by a large number of Karachi Club s honorable members Independence Day - Flag Hoisting Ceremony by Entertainment The 14th of August is a very important and auspicious day in the history of our country. It was on this day in 1947 that Pakistan became independent. We won freedom after a hard struggle and all the people irrespective of their caste and creed celebrate this day every year amidst great rejoicing and so our Entertainment Sub- under the Convenership of Muhammad Munir Columbo carried on the tradition by organizing a magnificent celebration of Independence Day. The event began with a Flag Hoisting Ceremony by the President, Muhammad Ayub Bawany, Honorary Secretary, Mohammad Jawed Zakaria, Members Managing and honorable members of Karachi Club were present at the ceremony. After the ceremony the committee members distributed the badges and handheld flags to all the children and also the refreshments given by the sponsors. The second phase of the event commenced with a performance of Ismaili Sultanabad Pipe Band who played numerous national songs and also performed Drum Solo. There were many other exciting segments in the event which was enjoyed by the all the members, the event concluded with a performance of Fire Dance show. Overall, it was a memorable Celebration in the history of Karachi Club and tradition must carry on. I would challenge you to a battle of wits, but I see you are unarmed.

4 The much awaited Second Grand Bumper Quiz Rama Show was held on Saturday, 22nd August at the Main Lawns with a record attendance of nearly 3000 persons Second Grand Bumper Quiz Rama Show 2015 by Quiz Rama who thoroughly enjoyed the exciting and entertaining evening with plenty of surprises and bumper prizes both from the Club as well as from our traditional sponsors. Full credit to our experienced Convenor, Muhammad Ashraf Timuswala ably supported by his team including Muhammad Ayaz Siddiq, Amin Merchant and other Quiz Rama Sub for their wholehearted supported in making this Grand show a success and memorable. Credit must also be given to our team of senior callers Shiraz Thaver, Mumtaz Moosa and Theresa Tansir who kept the crowd glued to their cards. The Weather was kind and generous although the passing clouds did threaten to burst but luckily it did not rain. KC Team Tennis Championship by Tennis Tennis Sub organized its first tournament after inauguration of the newly laid Plexi Tennis Courts in the club being KC Team Tennis Championship 2015 from 6th-13th August. A total of 40 players participated in this event. Each Team comprised of 10 Members and a total of 5 Doubles Matches were played in 5 categories A, B, C, D & E. KC Red won the Final against KC Green by a score of 3-2, the Winning team comprised of Saif Noor Sumar, Altaf Hussain, Shumayl, Irfan, Karim Gul, Imran Abu Bakr, Yusuf Suleman, Saad, Altaf Aziz & Ayaz Moti. While Runnerup team comprised of Asad Ali Bhagat, Zahid Hussain, Mustafa, Suleman, Talha, Amjad Hafeez, Illyas Lashkaryia, Asif Godil. Abdullah Khan & Sarfaraz, Star Performer from each Category were: A: Asad Ali Bhagat, B: Shumayl, C: Talha. D: Asif Godil, and E: Abdullah Khan. Khalid Rehmani, Secretary Pakistan Tennis Federation was the Chief Guest at the Prize Distribution ceremony. "There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so."

5 KC Swimming Competition by Swimming Pool The annual KC Swimming Competition was held on Saturday, 29th August for the Regular category and on Sunday, 30th August for the Beginner category. Children of all ages participated according to their age group. Following were the group champions in Regular category: Group 1 - Mahir Faraz - Shazany Tabish; Group 2 - Mustansir Arif; Group 3 - Kumail Nasir - Lujayn Bilwani; Group 4 - Raeed Sohail - Saba Amin; Group 5 - Usman Akbani - Hafsa Ali; Group 6 - Sammer Asif - Zohra Farhan; Group 7 - Zeeshan Abbas - Laiba Bilwani; Group 8 - Moaiz Khan - Ayesha Shoaib and Group 9 - Hassan Munawar. In Beginners category Group 1 - M. Rayyan Dhedhi - Menaal Akbani; Group 2 - Zainab Shabbir; Group 4 - Naqiyah Anwer; Group 6 - Iqrash Farrukh - Hana Akram and Group 7 - Abdul Ghafoor were declared as Group Champions. We saw a lot of enthusiasm in our young swimmers of the club and we wish to see them very successful in the future with swimming. Appreciation to Yasin Ozri, Convenor Swimming and his team for holding successful event. KC Table Tennis Tournament 2015 by Table Tennis Table Tennis might not be as popular as other sports in our country but at Karachi Club it is played and liked as equal as all other sports. Thus, when Table Tennis under the leadership of Huned Bakir Hussain Calcuttawala organized KC Table Tennis Tournament which commenced from 28th till 31st August 2015, our members were all upbeat to participate. The tournament was played simultaneously in three different categories Boy s Under 15, Women s Open and Men s Open. Many thrilling and nail biting matches were played and the title was won by Kaif Riaz (Under 15) beating Aazam Mohsin. However, in Men s Open Single Kaif Riaz could not continue his winning streak and the final lost to Hamza Godil. On the other hand the Women s Open title was won by Esha Khurram beating Eraj Riaz. The winners and runners up were presented the mementos/prizes by the Former Managing member, Mohammad Hanif Lakhany who was the Chief Guest along with President Mohammad Ayub Bawany and Honorary Secretary Mohammad Jawed Zakaria. Poor and content is rich, and rich enough.
