Jerry Shottenkirk Jerry s Playbook: 5x win, use in exotics. AQUEDUCT Brian Nadeau s Aqu Preview: A modest card, with turf racing in jeopardy for the remainder of the year, so pay close attention. Which a monster card at GP, I ll just play my BUZZ runner in the WPS pool and look south for better action. Race 6 Aqu #8 Gypsum Johnny (8-1) Our Eyes: 10/23 2-P duel with even-money, kicked clear off far turn, held closer safe over a very tiring track, favorite dead last, 15 lengths back; BIG return. Brian Nadeau Brian s Playbook: Win, 2x place and 3x show and a mustuse to kick off the late Pk4. GULFSTREAM PARK Brian Nadeau s GP Preview: The Championship Meet kicks off with bang, as the Claiming Crown drew deep and competitive fields, which are sure to amp up the horizontal exotics. I always lean to speed types at GP, on both the dirt and turf, and they could be that much tougher early in the meet. This is the type of card where you want to side with value, as the favorites are barely best on over longshots. Jerry Shottenkirk s GP Preview: Gulfstream Park opens its Championship Meet with the Claiming Crown, a series of stakes races worth more than $1 million for starter allowance types. My focus begins in the 5 th with A Place to Shine, who returns to her favorite track, and ends with the veteran Air Bueno in the 11 th. Also along the way, among others, is the dependable Mitos Y Leyendas, who also does best here. Race 3 GP #9 Summer Rae (6-1) Our Eyes: This filly has turned into a 5-furlong specialist with a record of Trainer Ralph Ziadie is 25% second off the layoff and 30% in nongraded stakes. Race 6 GP #4 Great Lou (15-1) Our Eyes: 9/25 3-W chase through HOT splits, took over off far turn, braced for even-money winner, refused to yield, well clear of 3rd, pace runners 7th and 9th; much improved on the barn change. Brian Nadeau Brian s Playbook: WPS bet. Race 9 GP #13 Seeking Treasure (15-1) Our Eyes: Steady mare has competed well in several stakes races and was 2 nd in her latest at Laurel. Was 5 th in this race last year and has kept her class. Chance to bring a solid late run at a decent price in this scenario. Jerry Shottenkirk Jerry s Playbook: Win, 2x place, use in exotics Race 11 GP #14 Air Bueno (6-1) Our Eyes: This 7-year-old gelding is having the best year of his career financially, having won one-half of his total bankroll in the 1 st 11 months of Tough campaigner is a steady closer and is good enough to overcome his post position draw with a big effort. Jerry Shottenkirk LAUREL PARK DC Dino Herrer a Lrl Preview: No stakes today but a few other races to choose from. I have had my fill of non-winners of 1, 2, 3 and today even 4 winners lifetime but it makes for some interesting handicapping. All surfaces are playing fair. Race 3 Lrl #7 Flyingtobechilders (6-1) Our Eyes: Drops in class and with his pressing style will be running late, 7 for 13 ITM at Laurel. Jockey Kevin Gomez has really done well since losing his bug. DC Dino Herrera Dino's Playbook: Win and place bet. Race 8 Lrl #8 Golden Glint (9-2) Our Eyes: Has a lot going right. Cuts back in distance and has run with much better. Another that will be closing from mid pack. Has a super record of 11 for 15 in the exacta at Lrl. DC Dino Herrera Dino's Playbook: Win and place bet. TAMPA BAY DOWNS Jeff Nahill s Tam Preview: Interesting card in that all 10 races are for 2yos. Going short, going long, on the dirt and on the turf. I think there will be prices, it's just a matter of finding them either through breeding or what circuit the 2yo is coming from. Good luck. Race 1 Tam #5 Military Brat (15-1) Our Eyes: I remember during the last winter/spring meet that trainer Horacio Barbaran and jockey Samy Camacho hit with some bombs and that's what we have here. This 2-yearold has shown speed and drops into a claimer for the first time. Bombs away. 3 Race 4 Tam #9 Cincy Belle (5-2) (turf only) Our Eyes: Jockey Daniel Centeno and trainer Arnaud Delacour are one of the top combinations here. This filly had all kinds of issues in her debut at Laurel, but takes a drop in class and has been training decently. Jeff Nahill Jeff s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 8 units Race 10 Tam #6 Mama Trace (7-2) (turf only) Our Eyes: This filly has been facing better and drops into a claimer for the first time for trainer Ignacio Correas and jockey Declan Cannon. A daughter of Temple City, she should enjoy the longer distance. Jeff Nahill Jeff s Playbook: 3 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units FAIR GROUNDS Race 7 FG #3 Small Fortune (6-1) (turf or dirt) Our Eyes: Has really turned a corner since being switched to the turf with three blowout wins over two different courses. He ll be tested for class here, but he s quick and figures to try to take it to them early. Brian W. Spencer Brian s Playbook: WPS bet. Race 9 FG #3 Jagged Warrior (9-2) Our Eyes: Just a bit flat out of gate, solid middle move while out widest on turn, flat final eighth, might get a great trip going long. Brian W. Spencer REMINGTON PARK Race 2 RP #3 Spanish Jazz (12-1) Our Eyes: This 14-time winner was claimed two-back and followed the barn change with a 4 th in a tough spot. DEL MAR Jeff Nahill s Dmr Preview: Big weekend of racing to close out the final days of the fall meet. Lots of Eastern trainers and jockeys coming West looking for graded stakes wins. Don't avoid these jockeys in other races because they are good. The turf rails are at zero. Terry Turrell s Dmr Preview: A quality nine-race card with tough competitive races for the final Saturday of racing at Del Mar. The Hollywood Derby is one of four competitive and contentious turf races promising to provide value and rails are down for the final weekend. Race 2 Dmr #9 Sunset Grill (4-1) Our Eyes: Scott Hansen has done well with limited starters while home based at San Luis Rey Downs. This gelding veered out and was bumped at the start racing wide battling for lead tiring in the stretch. He drops to maiden claimers for the first time and is reunited with red-hot jockey Drayden Van Dyke. 4 Race 3 Dmr #10 Rprettyboyfloyd (8-1) Our Eyes: Broke poorly testing the SA hillside turf course for the first time gaining best stride late to be closing boldly finishing 3 rd and galloped out with energy. He was claimed and starts for Mike McCarthy today having the services of John Velasquez. He has tactical speed to gain a good position down the chute to the main track. Terry Turrell Terry's Playbook: Bet to win, make a tri 8,10 w 3,8,10 w ALL. #7 Los Gatos (6-1) Our Eyes: Here's one of those spots we were talking about as jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. takes this mount for trainer Kristin Mulhall. Ortiz is a 17% turf rider in New York. Mulhall is 19% first off the claim and this colt looks ready with the bullet work recently. Jeff Nahill Jeff s Playbook: 3 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units Race 4 Dmr #8 Hard Arch (12-1) Our Eyes: This colt made his debut at GPW (aka Calder) in October and was shipped west by owners Holly & David West. The colt comes out of a race that has produced at least one winner so far. Jockey Santiago Gonzalez is 42% with trainer Vladimir Cerin at Del Mar. McGaughey is 22% second off the layoff and he gets jockey Drayden Van Dyke, who won a couple of stakes last weekend. The last was a prep for this and the son of Candy Ride has the top Brisnet Late Pace Rating. He is one of two from Bob Baffert and has been working bullets over the Santa Anita surface prepping for his debut. Race 9 Dmr #5 Champagne Charley (8-1) Our Eyes: Simon Callaghan gets all-world jockey Javier Castellano to stick around for this allowance race. Callaghan is 17% second off the layoff. Jeff Nahill Jeff s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 8 units Race 7 Dmr #8 Hayabusa One (6-1) Our Eyes: Colt was impressive making first U.S. start at Keeneland winning with gas in the tank with strong final furlong. He hails from the crafty Team Valor outfit who has had success with imports and Graham Motion. Chad Brown will have three strong entries and Hayabusa will need his very best. I will be using both BUZZ horses straight and in my exotic wagering while seeking to neutralize the races with heavy morning line favorites. Race 4 LA #1 Adellusion (9-2) Our Eyes: Owner Carmen Garcia Jimenez, trainer Francisco Valley and jockey Efrain Hernandez have done very well in the Thoroughbred races here over the past few months. This mare finished willingly for 3 rd at 4Fs in her last outing against. open $2,500 claimers and drops into a conditioned race tonight. Race 7 LA #6 Love That Dream (3-1) Our Eyes: He became fractious in the gate prior to the start finishing 5 th and gets reunited with the winning rider who was aboard for his two earlier 2016 victories.
