The number of trial heats run will be dictated by the number of entrants. In the event that ten or fewer horses pass the entry box for the trials no trials will be run. The final will be run on the advertised date. The ten (10) fastest Quarter Horse and Paint qualifiers will be selected from the trials to compete in the In the event that 100 or more horses remain eligible and enter into the trials, an Invitational race will be carded. The Invitationals will be based on times with (11-20) qualifiers preferred and so forth. Preference will be given in order of fastest times recorded in the time trials. Invitationals will pay out five places, 1st =60%, 2nd=20%, 3rd= 11%, 4th= 6%, 5th= 3%. In the event that two or more time trial contestants have the same qualifying time and a tie exists a draw by lot will be conducted to determine eligibility to compete in the (Except in the event that said entrants compete in the same trial heat and no dead heat exists the horse that finishes in the best position will automatically qualify.)in the event that electronic timing devices fail during the running of a trial heat, the time of the winner will be determined by official hand timing. Times shall then be assigned to the other entrants based on their relative position on the photo strip. In Thoroughbred trials, ten qualifiers will be determined by order of finish in trials. If necessary there will be a shake to determine the last finalist(s). No consolation race will be run. There will be no also eligibles list. If a mechanical failure of the starting gate occurs, or if a horse is inadvertently left behind the gate when the field is dispatched during a trial and such horse is declared a non-starter by the Stewards, all nomination, entry, and starting fees shall be refunded. During the running of a final or consolation, said entrant(s) shall also be considered a non-starter and awarded last place purse money. If a heat is declared a non-race all horses in that race shall be declared non-starters and not be eligible for official times. All fees shall be refunded. In Handicaps: If you are weighted in the top 10 and do not enter back you will lose your nomination fee. If you scratch after entering back you will forfeit your nomination fee and entry fee. Horses entering into and failing to draw in a Stakes or Handicap race will receive a refund of all nomination and entry fees, except where the conditions of the race state otherwise. 5 STAKES AND ELIMINATION TRIALS All parties involved with entrants will agree to comply with the rules of the Texas Racing Commission and Manor Downs. All nominations and payments must be postmarked no later than the advertised due date. Any nominations or payments duly postmarked, but received later than ten days from the due date will not be accepted. You must notify the nomination secretary in writing to enable her/him to make stakes payments from your horsemen s account. Sustaining payments will not automatically be deducted. Nominations for Handicaps and ATOE payments must be in office at time stated. If you wish your payments to be deducted from your account you must make arrangements for each payment with the Horsemen s Bookkeeper and Nominations Secretary. Manor Downs reserves the right to divide any race, including both the added monies and all fees, in the event that there is a greater number of starters than the track can accommodate. In all stakes, entries must be made through the entry box by the usual time of closing unless otherwise specified. It is understood and agreed that entries are accepted with the understanding that the horse(s) entered will only be allowed to start if in good standing at the time of the actual running of the race. Manor Downs reserves the right to cancel this stakes race at any time prior to the actual running without liability, except for the refund of nomination and entrance fees if any. Late nominations will be accepted by payment of all nominating and sustaining payments due plus late payment penalty stated on Nomination Blank on or before the applicable due date. 6 State of Texas the Horsemen s bookkeeping system is centralized by the Texas Horsemen s Partnership, in order to better serve the horsemen running at numerous tracks throughout the state. It is now similar to branch banking. This means that any necessary account maintenance can be done from any racetrack running a live meet in the state and through the Texas Horsemen s Partnership s main office in Austin year round. Horsemen s Bookkeeper Requirements Prior to starting a race an owner must have on deposit with the Horsemen s Bookkeeper the amount required to cover all costs incurred in starting that horse. Prior to putting in a claim for a horse the owner or their Designated Representative must insure that all funds incurred with claiming a horse are on deposit in said account.
