Do More Bucksnort's Sun King AMHA # Foaled: Chestnut Stallion ( Do More Sunny X Westrek Bless) While the names of the horses in the first few generations of this young stallion's pedigree may not be well known, they are some of the very best of Midwestern Morgan breeding. Do More Sunny, a full brother to Do More Jazz, was sired by Bridlesweet Donnie B, he in turn was sired by Meadowood Don Juan, who was by the black stallion Don El, also of Midwest breeding. Don El was sired by Royal De Jarnette. Royal De Jarnette was aptly named indeed since his sire was Fudge Royale and his dam was June De Jarnette. Royal De Jarnette was the sire of ten registered foals. He was bred by Ernest McElhinney of Morning Star, Iowa, a well known Midwestern Morgan breeder. Fudge Royale, his sire was also bred in the Midwest,he sired twenty two Registered foals, some carrying the Illawana prefix, others the Larruby prefix while the majority of those foals carried the Hillview prefix of Warren and Mary Hohmbraker of Sperry, Iowa. Fudge Royale was in his day a very successful show horse as well as a good sire. He was sired by Tarman out of Illawana Patsy Red. Tarman, a bay 1943 stallion was bred by JR Brunk. Tarman was sired by the US Government bred stallion Tiffany by Mansfield out of Klyona. Tiffany, and a mare-juliettewas traded to JC Brunk in exchange for Brunk's stallion Allen King by the US Government Farm. Mansfield was by Bennington out of Artemsia, a cross considered Golden by many breeders. Mansfield went back to Sherman Morgan through Black Hawk and the Brooks Mare. Artemisia went back to the Old Vermont blood of Gifford by Woodbury Morgan through Hales Green Mountain Morgan, as well as to Sherman through Black Hawk, Billy Root, and Ethan Allen 50. Artemsia is considered to be Old Vermont breeding entirely. Klyona, the dam of Tiffany was by Dundee out of Calve by General Gates, sire of Bennington. Dundee went back to the Bulrush stallion Morrill as well as to Sherman on his sire's line through Black Hawk Morgan. Dundee's dam was Carrie Gates by General Gates out of the Daniel Lambert daughter Caroline. Carrie Gates was bred by Joseph Battell. June De Jarnette, dam of Royal De Jarnette was bred by WW Chatterton of Wapello, Iowa. Both her parents Glendale ( her sire) and Susette ( her dam) were JC Brunk bred horses. Glendale was by Pongee Morgan out of Penala by Penrod out of Galva. Pongee Morgan was by Allen King out of Galva as well. Galva was by Billy Herod, by Herod, by King Herod, by Sherman Black Hawk by Black Hawk by Sherman Morgan. King Herod's dam was also sired by Black Hawk Morgan, and Herod's dam was a Black Hawk Morgan granddaughter. Chista was the dam of Galva, and she was also very strongly Sherman Morgan bred, but through Daniel Lambert via Ben Franklin, and Chetco. Chista also carried the Sherman blood through Billy Bodette, and Billy Root as well as through Royal Morgan. Penala, dam of Pongee Morgan was sired by Penrod who was the sire of Jubilee King. Penrod was by Allen Franklin out of Black Bess. Allen Franklin was by Jasper Franklin by Ben Franklin by Daniel Lambert and Black Bess was by Jubilee De Jarnette by Jubilee Lambert by Daniel Lambert. Allen Franklin's dam was Daisy by Billy Bodette who went back 1

to Sherman through Green Mountain Morgan and Billy Root and Royal Morgan. Daisy carried a line to Bulrush through Randolph Morgan and a line to Woodbury through Gifford Morgan via Hale's Green Mountain Morgan these lines came through the dam of Daisy- The Al Hasting's Mare sired by Billy Folsom. Illawana Patsy Red who was the dam of Fudge Royal, was sired by Captain Red out of Gildia. Captain Red was by the Jubilee King son Juban, his dam was Gizea by Go Hawk out of Liza Jane. Juban was out of Jeanne bred by JC Brunk. Jeanne was a daughter of Knox Reade out of Jean Ann by Sentiment. Jeanne's blood is strong in the blood of Knox Morgana horse that JC Brunk admired greatly and who Brunk came to own in the stallion's later years. Knox Morgan crossed with the rich blood of Sherman Morgan yielded an elegant horse that would still be admired today. Knox Morgan was the sire of Knox Reade, sire of Jeanne. Knox Reade was out of Mrs. Lewis by Charles Reade who was triple registered as Morgan, Standardbred and Saddlebred. Charles Reade was by Woodwards Ethan Allen by Ethan Allen 50 by Black Hawk. Woodwards Ethan Allen was a full brother to Daniel Lambert. Charles Reade's dam was Princess Dagmar a daughter of Daniel Lambert. The dam of Mrs. Lewis was Bess Franklin by Chetco by Ben Franklin by Daniel Lambert. Bessie was the dam of Bess Franklin. She was also rich in the Sherman Morgan blood, through Billy Root and Royal Morgan. She also carried Bulrush through Randolph Morgan via The Shedd Mare and Woodbury through both The Partridge Mare and Putnam Morgan. But Bessie was heaviest in the blood of Sherman Morgan. Jean Ann's sire Sentiment was by Major Reade by Charles Reade. His dam was Senata- JC Brunk's famous and beautiful mare. Senata was by Senator out of Daisy- the same Daisy who was the dam of Allen Franklin. Senata was Grand Champion Mare at the St. Lewis World's Fair of Senator was by Morgan Rupert by Ethan Allen 3rd out of Lucy by Billy Bodette. Lucy traces back to Sherman most heavily through Billy Root and Royal Morgan. Daisette was the dam of Jubilee King, sire of Juban. The dam of Daisette was Daisy De Jarnette by Jubilee De Jarnette out of Ben's Daisy by Ben Franklin out of Daisy- the same Daisy as behind Allen Franklin and Senata. Daisette's sire was Senator Knox by Knox Morgan out of Senata. Close breeding here to Daniel Lambert blood crossed with Knox Morgan. Liza Jane was the dam of Gizea by Go Hawk. Gizea was the dam of Captain Red. Liza Jane was by Knox Morgan out of Double Daisy. Double Daisy was by Allen Franklin out of Senata- since both Double Daisy's parents were out of Daisy, she came by her name very honestly. Go Hawk, sire of Gizea was sire of Flyhawk who sired foals almost beyond count. Go Hawk was by Sunny Hawk out of Bombo. Sunny Hawk was by Morgan Star out of Thistle. Morgan Star, on his sire line that of Goldfinder- goes back to Sherman Morgan through Black Hawk on virtually every line. Thistle does as well go back to Sherman Morgan over and over. Whitefoot the dam of Sunny Hawk goes back to Sherman as well, through her sire Hercules by Herod by King Herod by Sherman Black Hawk by Black Hawk. Bombo, the dam of Go Hawk brings in the blood of Bulrush Morgan and that of Woodbury Morgan. Bombo's Bulrush blood comes through her dam- Goldie who was by Hero Of Manilla. Hero of Manilla was by the Sherman bred stallion Herod, but his dam was Morrill Queen who was by Winnebago Chief. This line goes to Morrill by Jennison Colt by Randolph Morgan by Bulrush Morgan. Morrill Queen is best known perhaps as the dam of The Admiral a foundation stallion for the Richard Sellman breeding program. Gifford Morgan by Woodbury is also present. Hales Green Mountain Morgan behind Morrill Queen, and Black Hawk is present as well. Goldie's 2

dam was Lill the crème colored Morab mare. Very possibly it is Lill who accounts for Flyhawk being the sire of some of the colorful Morgans of today. Bombo's sire was Hawkins, by Hercules by Herod- Sherman blood here. Gipsey, who was the dam of Hawkins brings in the blood of Woodbury not only through Gifford but through the very highly regarded Golddust. A scarce line to see on a pedigree today. Golddust was known to be extremely handsome and very fast at the trot. He stood at stud in KY during the Civil War days, and did not leave many Morgan foals, but a great many non-morgan foals who went into the early days of the Standardbred breed. With the Golddust and the Morrill blood, Sherman is present as well through Royal Morgan and Ethan Allen 50 to Black Hawk. Gildia was the dam of Illawana Patsy Red, dam of Fudge Royale. Gildia was by Go Hawk out of Benita. Benita was by Knox Morgan out of Ben's Daisy. Ben's Daisy was by Ben Franklin out of Daisy- the same Daisy as behind Allen Franklin and Senata. This is Sherman Morgan blood through Black Hawk, Daniel Lambert, Billy Root, Royal Morgan and The Shedd Horse. Raragraph was the sire of Susette, dam of June De Jarnette, dam of Royal De Jarnette. Raragraph was an extremely handsome son of Jubilee King out of Nella. He was bred by JC Brunk, and was a chestnut with a silver mane and tail. The silver mane and tail most likely came from his maternal grandmother Liza Jane, a black mare with the same silver mane and tail. Nella was the daughter of Liza Jane, Nella was by Allen King- a full brother to Penrod, sire of Jubilee King, being by Allen Franklin out of Black Bess. Black Bess was a daughter of Jubilee De Jarnette. Liza Jane was by Knox Morgan out of Double Daisy. This is Brunk breeding at it's most influential, and perhaps most classic. Royal De Jarnette was most aptly named, for his blood was indeed royal. Binny Bee was the dam of Don El. She was by Captain Ben out of Betsy Ross. Captain Ben was by Illawana Ben out of Bonita Taffy. Illawana Ben was by Captain Red who was 1939 Grand Champion Morgan at the Iowa State Fair. He was sired by Juban by Jubilee King X Jeanne by Knox Morgan. The dam of Captain Red was Gizea by Go Hawk out of Liza Jane. Illawana Ben's dam was Gildia by Go Hawk out of Benita by Knox Morgan out of Ben's Daisy. Bonita Taffy was by Tarman out of Illawana Bonnie Red. Tarman was the sire of Fudge Royale. Bonnie Red was sired by Captain Red who was also the sire of Illawana Ben. The dam of Illawana Bonnie Red was Hirette by Hiro out of Nala. Hiro was by the US Government stallion Tiffany, but out of the Brunk mare Deura. Duera was by Senator Knox by Knox Morgan, and her dam was Penala by Penrod out of Galva. Galva was by Billy Herod out of Chista by Chetco out of the Billy Bodette daughter Lucy. Nala was by Go Hawk out of Penala. Betsy Ross was the dam of Binny Bee. Betsy Ross was by Flyhawk out of Josephine H. Linsley. Josephine H. Linsley. was by Harris Linsley who was sired by the US Government bred stallion Linsley by General Gates out of Sunflower Maid. Linsley's dam ( Sunflower Maid) was by Headlight Morgan out of Fanny P ( Julian Morgan X a mare by Flying Morrill). Headlight Morgan was by Ethan Allen 2nd by Peter's Vermont Morgan by The Wood Horse by Hales Green Mountain by Gifford Morgan son of Woodbury Morgan. On his sire line Headlight Morgan also carried Ethan Allen 50 and his Sherman blood as well as the blood of the more obscure Justin Morgan son Red Robin. The dam of Headlight 3

Morgan was Lady Stratton, she by Vermont Morgan out of the LL Pearson mare who goes back to both Sherman through Billy Root and to Woodbury through Hale's Green Mountain. Headlight Morgan's blood is a rich source of athletic ability, soundness, and true Morgan type. It is still very highly regarded and much sought after. Fanny P's pedigree is very strong in the blood of Bulrush through the Morrill horses and among them was Winnebago Chief who was the sire of Morrill Queen who in turn was the dam of The Admiral one of the cornerstones of the Sellman breeding program. The dam of Harris Linsley was Sparbelle. Sparbelle was sired by Sparhawk by Dart, by Dude, by Fred, on Sparhawk's sire line, and on his dam's side, the blood of Rancho through St. L and Ben Franklin through Ben's Daisy. The dam of Sparbelle was Donbelle. Donbelle by Donald X Belle C Graves who is considered as Old Vermont breeding going back to Woodbury and Sherman through the Billies ( Root and Bodette), The Streeter Horse, Billy Root, and Hale's Green Mountain Morgan, and Ethan Allen 2nd. Patsy was the dam of Josephine H. Linsley Patsy was out of Hester Ford by Pierpont Morgan who was by Fred Hudson. Fred Hudson was sired by Little Crow who goes back to Sherman through Billy Root on one line and back to Black Hawk Morgan on at least three other lines through Reconstruction, Panic and Dolly Wright. Pet was the dam of Pierpont Morgan and she goes back to the famous Woodbury bred stallion Golddust as well as to Gifford and to Black Hawk as well as carrying a Bulrush line through the Ed Rankin Mare. Meadowood Don Juan was the sire of Bridlesweet Donnie B, and the son of Don El. His dam was Meadowood Sue. She is of Lippitt breeding on her top line being by Moro Hills Moro. Her dam however- April Delight- was sired by Fudge Royale out of Illawana Peggy. Moro Hills Moro is pure Lippitt on all lines but one- that being of his paternal granddam- she being Justine Archie by Archie O. out of Lady Louise by Archie Hudson who was also the sire of Archie O. Moro Hills Moro's Lippitt blood is impeccable. He has, on his pedigree, Lippitt Sam, Lippitt Ethan Ash, NeKomia, Alrita, Sir Ethan Allen and Lippitt Georgia. The Archie O line that Moro Hills Moro carries is of course very different. The line goes as follows: Archie O by Archy Hudson by Archie L by Dart by Dude by Fred by Captain Herod, by King Herod Jr. by King Herod by Sherman Black Hawk by Black Hawk by Sherman Morgan. Dart was out of the mare Bess Franklin by Chetco, by Ben Franklin, by Daniel Lambert. Bess Franklin was bred by JC Brunk, who was an early Midwest Morgan breeder of paramount importance. Bess Franklin herself produced for JC Brunk some of the most well known foals in the Morgan horse community. She was bred to the best of the stallions that JC Brunk had, and accordingly, her produce by Dude, Jubilee De Jarnette, Charles Reade, and Knox Morgan produced descendants whose blood is still highly sought today. Bess Franklin was a chestnut mare, foaled in Dude, a dark bay foaled in 1896, sire of Dart was out of The John Timmerman Mare who was by Cub, a grandson of Black Hawk by Sherman Morgan. Cub's sire was Black Hawk Prophet who was out of Nazro Northrup Mare by the Thoroughbred Sir Charles out of the Morgan Northrup Mare. Cub's dam was the OLR White Mare who was actually black in color- who was sired by Young Green Mountain Morgan. Young Green Mountain Morgan was by Hale's Green Mountain Morgan sired by Gifford Morgan by Woodbury Morgan and out of the Nathan Whitcomb Mare by Woodbury. She was out of an own daughter of Justin Morgan. Young Green Mountain Morgan's dam was a mare by Bulrush Morgan. So within Dude, there is a strong blend of all three Justin Morgan sons with Bulrush being the least represented. 4

The Timmerman Mare's dam was the Cheeseman Mare- she was by Shaftstall Morgan by Morgan General by the Sherman Morgan son Billy Root. Billy Root was out of the Allen Mare whose dam was by Justin Morgan. Fred, sire of Dude was out of Doll by Sawyer Horse out of Yellow Bird, brings in more Woodbury blood as well as Sherman blood. The Sawyer Horse was by Hale's Green Mountain Morgan by Gifford Morgan. Hale's Green Mountain Morgan was the sire of Young Green Mountain Morgan. The dam of the Sawyer Horse was the Bennett Mare by Sherman Morgan out of The Old Bennett Mare. Yellow Bird who was the dam of Doll ( Fred's dam) was by Green's Bashaw by Vernol's Black Hawk, by Long Island Black Hawk. Her dam was Fanny Foss who was a double granddaughter of Hale's Green Mountain Morgan, giving her a double infusion of Woodbury blood. Her maternal granddams- one by Sherman Morgan, and the other by Bulrush Morgan gave her a solid base of the earliest Morgan blood available. Fred's sire -Captain Herod was out of the Sorbee Mare. She was by The Lawton Horse who was by Hale's Green Mountain Morgangoing back to Woodbury through both is sire and his dam. His dam however, The Nathan Whitcomb mare was out of a Justin Morgan daughter. The dam of the Lawton Horse was the Jasper Buckman Mare by Morgan Eagle by Woodbury out of the Cheney Mare who was by Bulrush Morgan. All and all this is a heavy concentration of Woodbury Morgan blood. It is through Captain Herod's sire King Herod Jr. that more Sherman Morgan blood comes in. King Herod Jr.'s dam was The Swayne Mare, a flaxen dark chestnut by Green Mountain Boy by Black Hawk by Sherman. Green Mountain Boy's dam was The Otis Walker Mare by a grandson of Cock Of The Rock by Duroc and out of a mare by Austin's Brutus, by Brutus, a son of Justin Morgan. The dam of the Swayne Mare was The Bean Mare by Vermont Hero, by Sherman Black Hawk, by Black Hawk by Sherman Morgan. King Herod, sire of King Herod Jr. was out of The Beach Mare, another flaxen chestnut mare,by Black Hawk himself, and out of the Chittendon Mare by Revenge- another of Justin Morgan's lessor known sons. This is the sire line of Dart. Byrrh was the dam of Archie O. She was by Handy Allen out of the Abner Royce Mare by Allen Morgan by Magnet. Magnet was a son of Woodward's Ethan Allen, a son of Ethan Allen 50 by Black Hawk. Handy Allen was a son of Prince Herod bred to Nellie by Nick Morgan. Nellie carries the blood of Golddust as well as that of Magnet and Woodward's Ethan Allen. The Handy Allen line goes back to Sherman through Herod by Sherman Black Hawk. Lady Louise who was the dam of Justine Archie, was by Archie Hudson and out of Delta by Govenor Chittendon out of Fairy. Govenor Chittendon was by General Gates, out of Bessie who was a half sister to General Gates both being by Denning Allen. This of course is US Government breeding. Fairy by Lambert Chimes was a descendant of Daniel Lambert as well as of Black Hawk through North America and Black Lion. Bridlesweet Dame was the dam of Bridlesweet Donnie B. She was sired by Meadowood Ashbrook and out of Bridlesweet Danseuse. Meadowood Ashbrook, like Meadowood Sue ( dam of Meadowood Don Juan) is a Lippitt bred horse. Meadowood Ashbrook was by Moro Hill's Prophet by Dyberry Ethan out of Lippitt Rita Roy. Dyberry Ethan was by Lippitt George out of Lippitt Miss Nekomia who was by Lippitt Moro out of Adeline Bundy. Lippitt George was by Lippitt Ethan Ash out of Lippitt Georgia. Lippitt Rita Roy was by Lippitt Rob Roy out of Alrita by Allansus. This is very highly regarded Lippitt blood. Lippitt Georgia is known as one of the most beautiful Lippitt mares and Dyberry Ethan was an extremely well known and regarded stallion. The dam of Meadowood Ashbrook was Gay Sally Ash by Archie O out of Lippitt Gay Sally another famous Lippitt mare. Lippitt Gay Sally 5

was by Lippitt Sam Twilight out of Lippitt Sally Ash. Lippitt Sally Ash was by Ashbrook- one of the foundation Lippitt stallions of Robert Lippitt Knight. Archie O was by Archy Hudson out of Byrrh. Basically this is the same cross as that behind Meadowood Don Juan, sire of Meadowood Donnie B. In Bridlesweet Danseuse's pedigree we see the same pattern- Lippitt blood with Archie O. However there is in addition the US Government blood through Canfield full brother to Mansfield. Canfield was the sire of Helen's Glory who was out of Lippitt Trixie Ash. Helen's Glory was bred to Bald Mt. Glory by Easter Twilight by Lippitt Sam Twilight X Green Mountain Twilight. Easter Twilight was out of Conniedale. Conniedale was by Lippitt Croyden Ethan out of Annadale. Annadale was by the Government stallion Monterey by Mansfield out of Scotanna by Scotland by General Gates. Annadale's dam was Florette the dam of Flyhawk. Florette was the daughter of Florence Chandler who died young leaving only three foals. Florence Chandler was a daughter of Knox Morgan out of the beautiful Brunk mare Senata. Florette's sire was Allen King by Allen Franklin out of Black Bess, and a full brother to Penrodsire of Jubilee King. Tillicum Roland Ash was the son of Bald Mountain Glory and the sire of Bridlesweet Danseuse. The dam of Tillicum Roland Ash was Lippitt Rosemere ( Lippitt Ethan Don x Glenmere Rose by Lippitt Sam). Lippitt Sam is behind Lippitt Sam Twilight who is behind Easter Twilight. So Tillicum Roland Ash, with the exceptions of Canfield and Conniedale is basically a Lippitt bred horse. Bridlesweet Dimity (Bridlesweet Dudley X Dusky Bridlesweet), dam of Bridlesweet Danseuse on the other hand is of double Archie O descent combined with the blood of Jubilee De Jarnette mainly through the mare Dudette. Dimity's Archie O blood comes through Archie T a son of Archie O. Archie O 's old blood goes back to Dart bred by JJ Lynes of Plainfield, Iowa. Dart was a chestnut foaled in 1905 and the sire of fifty three foals. He descends from the Sherman Black Hawk son King Herod. Archie T.'s dam was Roxie De Jarnette by Dude De Jarnette, out of Rose Bay, a full sister to Archie O. The line of descent is as follows, Dart by Dude by Fred by Captain Herod, by King Herod Jr. by King Herod by Sherman Black Hawk by Black Hawk by Sherman Morgan. The Timmerman Mare's dam was the Cheeseman Mare- she was by Shaftstall Morgan by Morgan General by the Sherman Morgan son Billy Root. Billy Root was out of the Allen Mare whose dam was by Justin Morgan. Fred, 6

sire of Dude was out of Doll by Sawyer Horse out of Yellow Bird, brings in more Woodbury blood as well as Sherman blood. She was by The Lawton Horse who was by Hale's Green Mountain Morgan- going back to Woodbury through both is sire and his dam. His dam however, The Nathan Whitcomb mare was out of a Justin Morgan daughter. The dam of the Lawton Horse was the Jasper Buckman Mare by Morgan Eagle by Woodbury out of the Cheney Mare who was by Bulrush Morgan. All and all this is a heavy concentration of Woodbury Morgan blood coming through Stone's Check Mate. This is the sire line of Dart, sire of Archie L. sire of Archie Hudson who was the sire of Archie O. Dudette was by Dude De Jarnette out of Duchess Bridlesweet. Dudette was bred by C.J. O'Neill and foaled in She was a chestnut mare. Dude De Jarnette was by Prince Dean and out of Ruperta by Jubilee De Jarnette. Prince Dean was by Dart and out of Kitty Dean by Dude, sire of Dart. Earlier I mentioned Bess Franklin, the dam of Dart. She was sired by Chetco by Ben Franklin by Daniel Lambert- going back to Sherman Morgan. The dam of Bess Franklin was Bessie, a very strongly bred Sherman Morgan mare with a few lines to Woodbury. Bessie was sired by Chase's Mountaineer, by the Streeter Horse ( also known as The Greeley Horse and as Morgan Lion) out of a bay mare bred by Solomon Berry ( also known as The Joseph Barber Mare) who was by Robert Gray Horse, a son of Royal Morgan by Sherman Morgan. Her dam was by the Shedd Horse by Vermont Morgan Champion by Sherman Morgan. This mare was known as The Austin Folsum Mare, and her dam was the Shedd Mare by the Bulrush Morgan son Randolf Morgan. The Streeter Horse was sired by Billy Root by Sherman and his dam was the Gorham Mare by the Batchelder Horse by Sherman Morgan. Bessie was bred by Joseph Barber, and sold to David McGavock, nephew of General Jackson of Belle Meade Farm. Gen.Jackson's intent was to breed Bessie and other Morgan mares to Thoroughbred stallions but Gen. Jackson died before those plans could be implemented and Bessie passed to David McGavock's son Frank, who in turn sold her to J.C. Brunk of Cotton Hills Morgan Farm. Bessie and the other Morgan mares who came from McGavock were among the best bred Morgan mares of their time and have left some of the richest blood legacy in the breed. Kitty Dean,-by Dude- dam of Prince Dean was out of Jenny D. was by Billy King, a double great grandson of Woodbury Morgan on his sire line. On his dam's side he traces twice to Sherman Morgan and once to Brutus. Jennie D's dam goes back to Woodbury 7

through Magna Charta. Dudette's paternal grandmother was Ruperta. She was bred by JC Brunk, and was Grand Champion Morgan Mare at the 1915 San Francisco World's Fair. She was bred by JC Brunk, sired by Jubilee De Jarnette out of a chestnut mare bred by JC Brunk who was sired by Gideon, a son of Chetco out of a chestnut mare bred by Frank McGavock by Morgan Rupert. by Ethan Allen III and out of Nell by Cushing's Green Mountain. Nell has lines to Woodbury, and at least six lines to Sherman through Billy Root, Royal Morgan, and The Batchelder Horse. And of course being by Jubilee De Jarnette Ruperta carries the blood of the incomparable Lady De Jarnette, Jubilee Lambert and Daniel Lambert. Duchess Bridlesweet, dam of Dudette, was by Morgan Profile who in turn was by Selim, a grandson of Ben Franklin and out of Byrrh. Byrrh was the dam of Archie O. She was by Handy Allen out of a bay mare bred by Abner Royce by Allen Morgan, out of Maud said to be of Morgan and Trotting stock. Allen Morgan was by Magnet by Ethan Allen ( Woodward's) by Ethan Allen 50 by Black Hawk Morgan. Allen Morgan's dam was the J.B. Howe Mare by Mink by Black Hawk Morgan. Handy Allen, Byrrh's sire, was by Prince Herod, by Hercules, by Herod, by King Herod by Sherman Black Hawk by Black Hawk Morgan. Prince Herod had an additional line to King Herod through King Herod Jr. out of the Swayne Mare mentioned earlier. Handy Allen's dam was Nellie by Nick Morgan. This line goes back to Golddust through Indicator a 15.2 hand flaxen chestnut with a good race time of 2:23 1/4. Golddust was by Vermont Morgan. Golddust goes back to Woodbury Morgan in four generations, and back to Sherman Morgan in three generations on his sire side. Golddust was 16 hands and described as pure gold in color` [iridescent bay], he was an incredibly handsome horse, who stood at stud in Kentucky and sired eighty eight Registered Morgan foals, and nineteen Saddlebred foals. His blood is very scarce today. Nick Morgan's dam was Maggie by Corbin's Flying Cloud by Black Flying Cloud by Black Hawk Morgan. Maggie also carried a line to Magna Charta and to Bulrush Morgan though her dam, the Ed Rankin Mare. Daisy L was the dam of Duchess Bridlesweet- and brings in US Government Farm breeding though her sire Linsley by General Gates out of Sunflower Maid. Sunflower Maid was by Headlight Morgan who was the very solid center of the Sellman breeding program in Texas, which became the basis for the Old California breeding behind so many of the Working Western Morgan family. The dam of Headlight Morgan was Lady Stratton, she by Vermont Morgan out of the LL Pearson mare who goes back to both Sherman through Billy Root and to Woodbury through Hale's Green Mountain. Headlight Morgan's blood is a rich source of athletic ability, soundness, and true Morgan type. It is still very highly regarded and much sought after. Sunflower Maid's dam was Fanny P. Fanny P brings in Bulrush, Sherman and Woodbury blood, with Bulrush and Sherman being about equal and Woodbury through Hale's Green Mountain Morgan. She carries Billy Root for Sherman, and Morrill ( at least five crosses) for Bulrush. Lemax was the dam of Daisy L, she by Sparhawk by Dart, by Dude, by Fred on Sparhawk's sire line, and on his dam's side, the blood of Rancho through St. L and Ben 8

Franklin through Ben's Daisy. The dam of Lemax was Bird Hudson by Dude Hudson by Fred Hudson going back to Sherman Morgan through Little Crow and Reconstruction. Velma was the dam of Dude Hudson, she by Dude by Fred by Captain Herod. This is the same breeding as behind Dart. Velma's dam was Pet by Fred by Captain Herod. Bird Hudson was out of Helen S. a daughter of Headlight Morgan. The dam of Helen S was Fan who went back to Brutus by Justin Morgan. This is the sire side of the pedigree of Do More Sunny - primarily Old Midwestern breeding, with some US Government Farm blood and a high percentage of Sherman Morgan coming through Daniel Lambert, not forgetting the Old Vermont blood of his Lippitt lines or the blood of Knox Morgan, which always adds something special to a pedigree. On the mare side, Westrek Sierra Madre, Do More Sunny's dam- was by Chief Winneshiek out of Westrek Haida. Chief Winneshiek -sire of twenty eight Registered Morgan foals- was sired by Westcrest Silver. Westcrest Silver was bred by Ramul Dvarishkis, and was the sire of 119 Morgan foals. The majority of those foals carried the VAS prefix, with the Westcrest foals in slightly less number. Westcrest Silver was sired by the very well known Jubilee's Quicksilver, his dam was Mountain Queen. Jubilee's Quicksilver was bred by the LU Sheep Co of Worland, WY. He was a flashy light chestnut with light mane and tail, and a fair amount of 'chrome'. Jubilee's Quicksilver was sired by Ern Peddler's famous Flying Jubilee a son of Flyhawk- out of Juvina- a daughter of Jubilee King. Flying Jubilee was a very well known Morgan a real working cowhorse and the subject of Ern Pedler's many articles. He had in addition to the gaits of walk, trot, and canter- a strong lateral gait a singlefoot-which was ground covering and into which he would go when out gathering cattle. Juvina by Jubilee King was out of Jeanne by Knox Reade by the Knox Morgan out of Mrs. Lewis, she by Charles Reade who was out of the Daniel Lambert daughter Princess Dagmar. Mrs. Lewis was out of Bess Franklin so the blood behind Flying Jubilee, Jubilee's Quicksilver and Westcrest Silver combined the Shermans, the Bulrushs, and the Old Vermont blood of Knox Morgan. Ailsa was the dam of Jubilee's Quicksilver. She was an LU Sheep Co bred mare. She was by Senator Graham out of Sox. Senator Graham was Senator Knox out of Fanita. Senator Knox was by Knox Morgan out of the famous Brunk mare Senata. Fanita brought in the US Government blood of Tiffany by Mansfield with that of Benita by Knox Morgan out of Ben's Daisy by Ben Franklin. out of the Billy Bodette daughter Daisy. All of which makes Senator Graham the source of very concentrated Knox Morgan and Daniel Lambert blood going back to Sherman. Sox was sired by Linspar out of Nancy who was by Flyhawk out of an unregistered daughter of Morgan Patch who was a grandson of Dan Patch the famous Standardbred trotting stallion. Linspar was by the General Gates son Linsley who himself was a grandson of Headlight Morgan through his mother Sunflower Maid. Linspar's dam was Sparbelle by Sparhawk out of old Donbelle. Sparhawk goes back to Dart by Dude by Fred all the way to Black Hawk Morgan. This is the same line as that of Harris Linsley behind Binnie B who was the dam of Don El on the topside of Do More Sunnys pedigree. Mountain Queen, the dam of Westcrest Silver, was by Plains King out of Spruce. Plains King was by the US Government stallion Romanesque by Red Oak by General Gates, and out of Ella Linsley by Linsley. Ella Linsley was out of Lemax by Sparhawk. Spruce was by Flyhawk out of Sox- the same Sox who was the dam of Ailsa, dam of Jubilee's Quicksilver. 9

Shawnee Sioux was the dam of Chief Winnesheik. She was by Fillmore by Mansfield out of Narissa who was a Troubadour of Willowmoor daughter out of Ellen by Rocky Mountain. Ellen combined the blood of Daniel Lambert through his son Motion, Benedict Morrill going back to Bulrush, and Gifford Morgan by Woodbury through her dam The Lamb Mare. Troubadour of Willowmoor by Troubadour goes back to Jubilee De Jarnette. This is pure early US Government breeding. Aster was the dam of Shawnee Sioux, she was another LU Sheep Co. bred mare by Senator Graham out of Lustre by Plains King out of Shoshone by Flyhawk out of Dorothy by Linspar X Eula. Eula was another of the Dan Patch granddaughters. This is the classic LU breeding pattern. It is also the top side of the pedigree of Westrek Sierra Madre. On the bottom side of Sierra Madre's pedigree is Westrek Haida. Westrek Haida was by Stone's Check Mate. Stone's Check Mate, a 1960 bay stallion was a horse very much in the image of Archie O. He was very 'round' of body, very solid and very attractive as an individual. He, on his sire line is very pure Old Midwest breeding through Archie O of course, and that old blood goes back to Dart bred by JJ Lynes of Plainfield, Iowa. Dart was a chestnut foaled in 1905 and the sire of fifty three foals. He descends from the Sherman Black Hawk son King Herod. The line of descent is as follows, Dart by Dude by Fred by Captain Herod, by King Herod Jr. by King Herod by Sherman Black Hawk by Black Hawk by Sherman. The dam of Stone's Check Mate was Dudette. She was by Dude De Jarnette out of Duchess Bridlesweet. This line is also behind Bridlesweet Dimity, behind Bridlesweet Danseuse dam of Bridlesweet Donnie B. sire of Do More Jazz and Do More Sunny. Westcrest Beth was the dam of Westrek Haida. Beth was by Westcrest Sandy out of Cocoa Kellogg. Cocoa Kellogg was sired by Jubilee Kellogg CK and out of Lady Kellogg CK. Jubilee Kellogg CK was bred by Glen Watt of Nebraska. He was by Captain Kellogg. Captain Kellogg was by the Sellman bred Rojeneiro. Rojeneiro was by the US Government Farm stallion Red Oak, who Sellman used at stud. Red Oak was by General Gates out of Marguerite who was by White River Morgan out of JP Marsh Mare. Interestingly, Marguerite contributed a large concentration of Woodbury Morgan, with several lines to Sherman Morgan, and can be considered as Old Vermont breeding indeed. General Gates went back to Sherman Morgan and Marguerite's Woodbury brought the two families into a nice balance. The dam of Rojeneiro was Jenavive K, an own daughter of Headlight Morgan out of Nellie Antoine by Major Antoine again Sellman breeding going back to Octoroon and Bulrush Morgan as well as Woodbury and even The Hawkins Horse. The dam of Captain Kellogg was Acadia- a mare of pure Sellman breeding by Acacia by Red Oak, out of Birdie K by Headlight Morgan. Baby O is behind Birdie K ( her dam in fact) and Baby O was by The Admiral out of a daughter of Major Antoine (Lulu A) who was out of a daughter of Major Gordon. This is the classic Sellman breeding pattern. Gay Maid was the dam of Jubilee Kellogg CK she was by the Jubilee King son Jubel and out of Jumina by Jubilee King X Allana. Jubel's dam was Bess Knox by Knox Morgan out of Bess Franklin by Chetco by Ben Franklin by Daniel Lambert. As strongly bred in Woodbury blood as Marguerite was dam of Rojeneiro- is as strongly bred in Sherman Morgan mainly through Daniel Lambert is Gay Maid. Allana was by Allen King who was a full brother to Jubilee King's sire Penrod. She was out of Ruby Reade who was by Charles Reade by Woodward's Ethan Allen ( also known as Ethan Allen Jr.) who was a full brother to Daniel Lambert! Ruby Reade's dam was Ruby by Jubilee De Jarnette out of Bess Franklin. Jubilee 10

De Jarnette by Jubilee Lambert by Daniel Lambert out of the famous Lady De Jarnette. Lady Kellogg CK was the dam of Cocoa Kellogg. She was by Gay Kellogg CK ( Captain Kellogg X Gay Maid), out of Highland Ruby. Highland Ruby was by Illawana Ruban by Juban Jubilee King X Gosette ( Go Hawk X Daisette). Juban was out of Jeanne by Knox Reade by Knox Morgan. Knox Reade's dam was Mrs. Lewis by Charles Reade out of Bess Franklin. Charles Reade's dam was Princess Dagmar by Daniel Lambert. The dam of Jeanne was Jean Ann by Sentiment out of Neoshia. Sentiment was by Major Reade by Charles Reade out of Black Bess by Jubilee De Jarnette. The dam of Sentiment was JC Brunk's mare Senata. Neoshia was by Black Dan out of the Elmer Baugh mare. Black Dan was by Dan L by Chetco out of Daisy. While Black Dan's dam was Black Bess by Jubilee De Jarnette. This is very heavy Daniel Lambert blood in concentration. Highland Ruby, who was Lady Kellogg CK 's dam was out of Highland Lady. Highland Lady was sired by Highland Lad by Scotland by General Gates out of Highland Mary who was a Daniel Lambert granddaughter sired by Lambert Chief. Highland Lad's dam was Marguerite by White River Morgan. Aileen C was the dam of Highland Lady and she brings in yet another very old and scarce bloodline. That of Golddust. Aileen C was sired by Goldsheen by Goldzil by Zilaadi Golddust by Golddust. Golddust carried the Morgan blood of Woodbury, Sherman, and The Hawkins Horse as well as that of the Arabian Zilcaadi. Aileen C not only went back to him on her sire side, but on her dam's side as well. Westcrest Sandy was by Sanborn out of Fleurette. Sanborn was by Agazizz by Juzan by Jubilee King, his dam was Donbelle Allan, by Tehachapi Allan by Querido- another of the famous Bennington Artemsia cross. Donbelle Allan was out of Donbelle by Donald X Belle C Graves who is considered as Old Vermont breeding going back to Woodbury and Sherman through the Billies ( Root and Bodette), The Streeter Horse, Billy Root, and Hale's Green Mountain Morgan, and Ethan Allen 2nd. The dam of Agazizz was Gizea by Go Hawk out of Liza Jane by Knox Morgan out of Double Daisy. Agazizz was bred by JC Brunk, used by Funquest Morgans, owned by Robert Tynan of Nebraska, and a very prolific sire. Fleurette was by Highview King and out of the LU Sheep Co. mare Luxury- she by Night Tide by Tiffany ( Government breeding here) out of Mallow. Highview King was by King De Jarnette by Jubilee King and out of Sentola, who was a full sister to Jubilee King. The dam of King De Jarnette was Deura by Senator Knox out of Penala. Senator Knox was by the Knox Morgan out of Senata and Penala was by Penrod ( sire of Jubilee King) out of Galva by Billy Herod out of Chista by Chetco by Ben Franklin. The dam of Chista was Lucy by Billy Bodette. Galva therefore was of concentrated Sherman Morgan blood, much coming from Daniel Lambert. 11

Westrek Bless Is the dam of Do More Bucksnort's Sun King. As you will see her breeding is very close, and in some lines identical to that of Sun King's sire. Bless was sired by Westrek Arnett. Arnette spent a goodly part of his life in obscurity, and Bless was his first daughter, sired when he was eleven years old. Westrek Arnett (Stone's Check Mate X Bonita Kelog) Arnett's sire, stone's Check Mate a 1960 stallion was the sire of 20 foals most for Dr. Glise's Westrek Morgans. Stone's Check Mate was a son of Archie T, a 1947 stallion bred by C.J. O'Neill. Archie T sired seventeen get and was an own son of Mr. O'Neill's famous stallion Archie O. Archie O had 115 get and was known throughout the entire country as he would accompany Mr. O'Neill for promotional purposes and demonstrations. This was in an era when the Morgan horse was very much endangered and Mr. O'Neill was bound to save it from extinction. Archie O was a very handsome, very baroque stallion who was taught to do five gaits. Archie O was the reason behind Mr. O'Neill's creating the Gold Band Morgan Club whose purpose was to preserve and promote the old type Morgan with no outside blood. Though the Gold Band Morgan Club did not survive, it's ideals have. The line of descent is as follows, Dart by Dude by Fred by Captain Herod, by King Herod Jr. by King Herod by Sherman Black Hawk by Black Hawk by Sherman Morgan. Yellow Bird who was the dam of Doll ( Fred's dam) was by Green's Bashaw by 12

Vernol's Black Hawk, by Long Island Black Hawk. This is the sire line of Dart, sire of Archie L. sire of Archie Hudson who was the sire of Archie O. who was grandsire of Stone's Check Mate, sire of Westrek Arnett. The dam of Stone's Check Mate was Dudette. She was by Dude De Jarnette out of Duchess Bridlesweet. Jennie D's dam goes back to Woodbury through Magna Charta. Dudette's paternal grandmother was Ruperta. She was bred by JC Brunk, and was Grand Champion Morgan Mare at the 1915 San Francisco World's Fair. She was bred by JC Brunk, sired by Jubilee De Jarnette out of a chestnut mare 13

bred by JC Brunk who was sired by Gideon, a son of Chetco out of a chestnut mare bred by Frank McGavock by Morgan Rupert. by Ethan Allen III and out of Nell by Cushing's Green Mountain. L and Ben Franklin through Ben's Daisy. The dam of Lemax was Bird Hudson by Dude Hudson by Fred Hudson going back to Sherman Morgan through Little Crow and Reconstruction. Velma was 14
