I hope I won't bore you and I'll try to get straight to the point. This has been a very good year for the Tasmanian Pinto Society we have grown in membership held very successful club days and shows and have a very tidy bank balance at the end of it all. I'd like to thank the out going committee for all its hard work this year and we have worked hard and it's very satisfying to have some of that very hard work pay off. I find it really exciting in this our 30th year to be a Society people want to be a member of, people who don't even own a Pinto!! We have some new faces on the committee and I would like to take this opportunity to welcome them and look forward to working with them, already some of their new ideas are being used. Whilst everybody has worked really hard there are a few I would specially like to point out. Lisa Dolbel our wiz at all things computer based. Due to Lisa's fantastic work we now have a web site with our Rules and Regs and forms available at a touch of a button and soon to be showcased our new registration certificates an example of in this newsletter. Diane Johnston who has made fun days really fun and worked hard with Sarah Hingston to make each one better than the last. Also Diane put her thinking cap on and over many phone calls explained to a very novice rider (me) how the rider classes should be set up and this year we gave them a try at the state show and at least from my point of view it was a fairer system to all. Lynn Rayner for taking on the Treasury and putting it in order. To Andrew Spencer and my hubby Peter the super stewards. To Wanita and Susan and Helen and Rodney who were there when an extra hand or advice was needed. The East Tamar Pony Club for running our canteens, fantastic food and service. There were lots of other helpers along the way and to them I say thank you as well. Now on to the unpleasant part. Whilst the society is held in very high regard the same cannot be said of all of us. Society officials and committee members are being abused, judge's decisions are being questioned and it's just not on. I have been a member of this society for over 16 yrs and one thing until recently that has always been commented on is our friendliness and sportsmanship in the ring and outside of it and whilst everything else is going really well this is one area we really need to work on. We have 2 rules "112. Sportsmanship is expected at all times" and "113. Abuse of the Judge, show officials and/or volunteers will not be tolerated and may result in a ban from any official Pinto event", we must make sure that all our members know and adhere to these rules for the continued respect of our society, its committee and its members. When one of our people behaves badly unfortunately it reflects on all of us. We are Pinto's and we stand out from the crowd let us all make a very big effort this season to make sure it's for all the right reasons. Martina is the daughter of OV Montecarlo and Fenwick Emmylou. Emmylou was always the pony we pulled out of the paddock for the childrens handler classes at shows at short notice and she always helped her handlers win a ribbon or two. Her daughter Martina has also helped her child handlers on to win at the end of the year in the Pinto society. I am hoping that Julz ends up with both mums and grand mums temperament and with a grand dad like Monte, a bit of a show off himself, she should have a good show future in front of her. Little Looka as we call her at home had her first show on the 1st of April and decided it wasn't something she wanted to partake in at all! She spent most of the time sitting on the ground throwing huge tantrums much to the amusement of everyone around. We finally got her sorted out with Peter having to lead both mum and bub. Little Looka bobs her way across the strait in July to join her Aunty Mirrabella at the well known Domino Downs stud of Leanne and John Baker. Hopefully by that time the tantrums will be over, but if she is anything like her mother I doubt it, Mialooka wasn't shown until she was three because of her attitude. Wow there were 12 of us entered and what a beautiful line up we made on the day. Our Pinto's were the biggest class. He now sleeps in his new stable, has the run of the property although he still comes in the house for a visit and a snack. He has the most beautiful head and has his dads markings right down to the stripe running down the leg. I would like to thank all the TPS members for their kind thoughts over the last 8 weeks thank you all. Jan 10, 2007 Just a little more news from Pembroke Park. Shabanna is doing well, he has the run of the property, is now sleeping in the stable, he wanders around visiting all the ponies and they are fascinated with him. Macdell Finlay went to the Breeders Showcase I was disappointed as there were no other Pinto's there, so he went Champ stallion, best presented and then he went on to win Supreme best presented in show, I was very proud of him. Jan 17, 2007 Macdell Finlay wins Supreme Stallion at Dodges Ferry Annual Horse Show. April 5, 2007 My precious foal Pembroke Shabanna {Micky] has grown into a super little colt after a long fight just to be here with me, he has such a lovely nature, and still likes all the cuddles he can get. The photos were taken April 4th and as you can see he sure has grown into a little cutie and looks just like his Dad.
