1 It s always been so much more than just a horse show. The National Reining Breeders Classic will return to Texas in 2019 for its 22nd show. During the event, reiners from all across the globe will compete for their share of the over $1 million in prize money This prominent event will be held April at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy, Texas, just west of Houston. As in the past, the NRBC will attract contestants, owners, vendors and spectators from all over the nation and world; as well as local equine enthusiasts and targeted media. The show features a week of reining competition held simultaneously in THREE different arenas, plus a trade show area for display and sampling. There also are a variety of hospitality venues and social events to entertain clients and guests. Attendees enjoy the laid-back atmosphere that makes the NRBC so unique and keeps people coming back year after year. With plenty of in-arena opportunities to school horses, exhibitors don t have to stay up all night long to make those final tune-ups. That creates more time for fun, all of which is provided by the NRBC activities and parties can be found everyday at the NRBC. There are lots of ways to enjoy quality time with friends. It s all part of the NRBC experience, and each year there s something special to enjoy! Reining competitions include multiple divisions to enable riders at all levels and horses at various stages of skill to participate, learn and improve as they master the intricacies of one of the most exciting equine sports ever. The NRBC show includes classes for world class reiners as well as kids and entry-level contestants. It also showcases a large double slate of NRHA ancillary events to help exhibitors qualify for NRHA year-end awards. From the $25,000-added Open reining to the Green Reiners to USA Reining and CRI classes, everyone gets the chance to compete at the NRBC. Additionally, AQHA-approved classes are held to help riders qualify for the AQHA World Championship Show and APHA world-show qualifying classes are also held. Because of its large purse, beautiful awards and unique atmosphere, the NRBC attracts a broad cross-section of the equine media world and is featured in countless magazines and newspapers around the world. 1

2 The Spirit of the NRBC - Special Activities & Lots of Shattered Records The NRBC Trade areas bridge the three competition arenas at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center. Diverse products and services are offered by a multitude of venders at the show. Products of all shapes, colors and sizes can be found. Everything from saddles and tack, to beautiful furniture and home décor, to boots, clothes and one-of-a-kind jewelry will be offered for sale. All spectators for the event are invited to attend the trade show, held each day during the week full of action. History of the National Reining Breeders Classic? At the NRBC, enrolled foals from subscribed stallions are eligible to compete for big money as 4-, 5- and 6-year olds, and when advanced into the Classic Challenge program, horses age 7 and up can continue to compete. The program was created in the fall of 1997 when a group of reining breeders created a stallion incentive program named the National Reining Breeders Cup. The entity s first goal was an enrollment of 100 stallions, a number that was quickly surpassed. The list of sires enrolled soon read like a Who s Who of the reining industry. Currently there are well over 200 stallions enrolled in the NRBC. Foal enrollments followed suit, and the enrollment numbers have spiked steadily upward each year, with over 40,000 total foals enrolled. Now with the advancement of horses, at age 7, into the Classic Challenge Program, numbers continue to skyrocket. The first show, held at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Oklahoma, in 1998, was an instant classic, setting the stage for the name change later that year to National Reining Breeders Classic. The show was held at the Lazy E venue for the first three years, and then moved to its current location at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy, Texas. In the beginning, the show was reserved for 4- and 5-year-old reining horses, but later was expanded to include horses age 4 through 6. Then, in 2011 the Classic Challenge was added to include horses age 7 and up. New in 2016 was the Development Division. The $10,000-added NRBC Development Division is for NRBC Open Classic horses that have not won $2,000 by March 31, The NRBC is one of the most lucrative venues in the world to show reining horses, with payouts of over $1 million each year since 2005 and new record numbers set each year. Horse show classes that take place at the NRBC are sanctioned by the National Reining Horse Association and earnings from the NRBC count toward NRHA Lifetime Earnings records. AQHA classes, APHA classes and USA Reining and FEI Reining classes round out the picture of a show that offers something for every rider. 100% of each year s foal enrollment dollars goes to added money of the show four years later. In other words, the 2018 show added-money comes from the foals that were enrolled in The 2018 foal money will be used for the 2022 event. NRBC Foal Enrollments total over 38,000! The show and the enrollment program are also marketed in NRBC Social Media, Premium Book, Show Program and the Slide Street Journal and the Slide Street E Journal. All sponsorships provide high profile association with the largest added money reining event in the world. Sponsorships can be customized to create a program that is mutually beneficial for sponsor and show. The NRBC team can work with each sponsor to create a package that will integrate the sponsor s presence into the event, will fit the sponsor s marketing plan and create industry buzz.
