Riders not to have attained their 9th birthday on 1st January of the current year and must be in their first year in First Ridden Classes of any category. Riders in this class may not compete in any other class at the same show on the same day with the exception of Lead Rein Classes. 15 OPEN FIRST RIDDEN SHOW PONY mare or gelding, 4 years old or over, not exceeding 123cms suitable for and to be ridden by riders who have not attained their 10th birthday on 1st Jan. Ponies must be shown in single ring snaffle bridle. No Cantering except for individual performance. Ponies must leave the ring at walk or trot. MINI CHAMPIONSHIP For 1 st & 2 nd Prize Winners in Classes 2, 3, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 & YOUNG HANDLER CLASS for ponies 4-year-old and over to be shown in hand by children aged between 7 & 13. Handlers must wear the correct jacket for their chosen category including the recommended hat. Its members pursue a broad range of equestrian activities and willingly share their knowledge and expertise with each other. Group Activities: Meeting are held during the year in the Firgrove Hotel in Mitchelstown. Relevant educational talks are given by qualified guests to further enhance the knowledge of the Group. Visits to Connemara Pony Studs are undertaken by members. Assistance is given to the Munster Agricultural Society into organizing and running of the Connemara section at the Cork Summer Show. Members successfully compete in the performance and in hand Connemara classes at Shows throughout the country. Champion ponies of Clifden and the RDS are owned by group members. Flatwork Phase is followed immediately by the Jumping Phase. The jumping phase must conclude with a halt and salute. To be ridden in a snaffle bridle. Flatwork Phase: Total 80 marks: Halt at X (Straight, square, immobile, on the bit) 10 marks From X Medium walk 20mcircle left. No showing phase, Advanced Primary 80cms, Intermediate 90cms, Advanced Intermediate and above 1m. Cards will be checked for grade. 78 HANDY HORSE WORKING HUNTER 80cm, mare or gelding, 4 years old and over. The course will consist of 10 fences with a maximum height & spread of 80cm. Judged on way of jumping, going and manners. No Showing Phase. 79 COLOURED HORSE WORKING HUNTER - For coloured horses, mare or gelding, exceeding 148cms. Judged on way of jumping, going and manners. To be judged on ride, manners and conformation. 84 RIDDEN COB, mare or gelding, 4 years old or over, 148cms to 155cms. Entries in this class are not eligible for Small Hunter or Hack Classes. Measuring for this class may be carried out before showing. 85 MAXI COB, mare or gelding, 4 years old or over, exceeding 155cms, to be judged as Cobs. To be shown with hogged mane. To be ridden by riders who have attained their 16th birthday by 1 January RIDDEN HACK, mare or gelding, 4 years old or over, not exceeding 160cms. 87 OPEN SIDE SADDLE, mare or gelding, 4 years old or over, exceeding 148cm and to be ridden by riders that have attained their 16th birthday on 1st January RETRAINING THE RACEHORSE CLASS. Open to thoroughbred horses who have raced (track or point to point), proof of racing and passport to be available on the day. The horse is judged on control manners/even paces/turnout and appearance /suitability for retraining. Blemishes are ignored. Show to consist of walk, trot, canter on both reins with a gallop returning to halt and maintaining halt for 5 sec. The judge does not ride the animals in this class. The judge is looking for a well-mannered riding horse capable of working in the general equestrian world as a general riding animal. 89 OPEN RACEHORSE TO RIDING HORSE CLASS. Open to thoroughbred horses who have raced (track or point to point), proof of racing and passport to be available on the day. The horse is judged on control/manners/even paces/turnout and appearance. Blemishes are ignored. Show to consist of walk, trot, canter on both reins with a gallop returning to halt and maintaining halt for 5 sec, and rein back. The judge does ride the animals in this class. The judge is looking for a well-mannered riding horse capable of working in the general equestrian world as a general riding animal. The winner of this class will receive an invitation to compete in the Racehorse to Riding Horse at the Dublin Horse Show. 90 AMATEUR RIDER, mare or gelding, 4 years old or over, 148cms or over.
