7 ESA Regulatory Improvements These actions are intended to: Improve the science and increase transparency Incentivize voluntary conservation efforts Focus limited resources to achieve more successes Engage the States more fully
8 Regulation/Policy Revisions Petition regulation revisions Clarifying procedures for designating and revising Critical Habitat Pre listing P conservation actions policy
9 Petition Regulation Revisions Require notification of the State Wildlife Agencies before petition is submitted Would limit petitions to one species per petition
10 Critical Habitat Exemptions Secretary must designate critical habitat based on the best scientific data available after considering the economic impact, the impact on national security and any other relevant impact. Additionally the Secretary may exclude an area from Additionally, the Secretary may exclude an area from critical habitat if the benefits of excluding the area outweigh the benefits of including the area so long as the exclusion will not result in the extinction of the species concerned.
