1 Girls Basketball Association By-Laws Article I Name and Objective A. The name of the association will be Girls Basketball Association. The association will be referred to as the GBA. B. The purpose of the GBA is to promote and organize girls basketball events all across the United States and to inspire the interest of girls basketball to a new level. The GBA will inspire our youth: regardless of race, color, creed, or national origin. The GBA will organize and provide an opportunity for girls to compete in state and national events in their respective age groups. C. The GBA shall be governed and operated in accordance with regulations, procedures, and policies as outlined by the GBA national staff. Article II Memberships A. Team memberships will be $10.00 per team per year. The fee allows teams to play in any GBA sanctioned event. This is a one-time fee and will become valid during the 2019 season. B. No player fees and no coaches fees during the 2018 season. C. Players option to join the GBA 1. A player may join the GBA, but it is not required they join to participate. 2. A player may pay a fee of $15.00 to join the GBA. A player joining the GBA is entitled to have their personal information, school information, academic records, achievements, statistical information, tournaments they are attending, and coaches comments posted on the GBA website to promote to college coaches. 3. The GBA will assist in collecting information to pass along to college coaches, and the colleges use the GBA website as a recruiting tool.

2 Article III GBA Programs A. The GBA will consist of the following programs: 1. 5 on 5 Tournaments 2. Camps a. Team b. Individual c. Team Shoot Outs d. Exposure Camps e. Coaches Clinics f. Clothing The GBA may add programs approved by the national staff. Article IV Team/Individual Eligibility A. No team shall be allowed to compete in any GBA event without paying their fees to the GBA. B. Complete Team Rosters MUST be filled out and turned in to the GBA before the deadline including the COMPLETE address for all players and coaches. A team may have a maximum of 15 players. C. The cutoff date for adding players to a team shall be in accordance with rules enforced by the GBA staff. D. The GBA National Staff has the right to remove any team or player from any tournament for violation of any rules and guidelines set by the GBA. E. A tournament director shall not coach or participate in any tournament in which he or she serves as tournament director. GBA has the right to grant approval if national staff are in attendance. F. A player or coach who is in violation of the GBA procedures or playing rules shall be considered as ineligible. G. All players participating in GBA events shall have copies of their birth certificates in the possession of their coach. Failure to have a copy will result in the offending team and coach to forfeit the game, forfeit all awards, and may deny the team and coach entry into future GBA events.

3 Article V State/National Tournaments A. The state director shall conduct all GBA events in his or her state. The GBA may decide to add an additional director in another part of the state if arrangements are made with the primary state director. B. The entry fee amount charged for state tournaments shall be left up to the discretion of the state director, but must be approved by the GBA national staff. C. The number of trophies and awards will be up to the national staff of the GBA. The awards must be purchased through the GBA. D. All GBA 5 on 5 tournaments shall be scheduled by the GBA national staff. All teams are guaranteed three scheduled games. This can be changed during the tournament, by the director, if it is determined that the tournament cannot be completed due to power outages, weather conditions, or other acts of God. A substitute plan will be decided upon at the tournament site or: 1. A $50.00 administrative fee will be assessed for playing in tournament as well as a $50.00 per game fee assessed. A team that has played three games will be considered as playing a full tournament. E. Refund of any GBA tournament entry fee will be made under the following guidelines: 1. Request for refund must be made by a phone call to the GBA office and in writing prior to the published tournament cutoff date. The 2018 cut-off date will be 10 days prior to the tournament date. 2. Upon receipt of the request, the GBA office will forward a check to cover the cost of the fee paid. The GBA will contact the coach and arrange payment. 3. The GBA will not refund the entry fee after the cutoff date regardless of circumstances! F. The National Tournament entry fee will be established by the national GBA office. G. The GBA will use pool play format for all 5 on 5 tournaments. Teams will be randomly put in pool where they play a round robin within their pool. A single elimination tournament and shoot-out will be held for all teams after pool play. The exact number of pools, number of teams in each pool, etc will be set when all teams have entered the tournament. H. The tournament director shall supervise the event and be responsible for insuring the tournament is run according to all the rules, procedures, and teams of the GBA. I. No team shall add a player to their roster after the team has played its first game.

4 Article VI Coach, Player, & Parent Behavior A. The following will result in automatic removal at a GBA tournament: 1. Physical attack on a director, referee, or other tournament official before, during, or after a game. 2. Player, coach, parent, etc threatening or fighting with any GBA staff, referees, or anyone else at the tournament sight. 3. Destruction of property or abuse of hotel, gymnasium, or any other facility involved with the GBA tournament, and failure to pay fees at tournament or hotel. B. The GBA will establish a code of ethic for the association that will list all of the tournament behavior guidelines. Article VII Game Rules/Protests A. Game Rules 1. The home team will always be the first team listed on the schedule. The schedule might have numbers to represent each team. 2. All game rules will be posted on the official GBA website at and will also be posted at the main tournament site. B. Protests 1. The referees will work to settle all problems on the court. Protests will be allowed for player eligibility or rules interpretations only. Protest fee of $ is required and will not be returned if protest is denied. Article VIII Player Eligibility The GBA grade divisions for the 2018 season will be as follows: 4 th Grade Division- A player must be in the 4th grade as of October 1, 2017 and cannot turn 12 prior 5 th Grade Division- A player must be in the 5th grade as of October 1, 2017 and cannot turn 13 prior

5 6 th Grade Division- A player must be in the 6th grade as of October 1, 2017 and cannot turn 14 prior 7 th Grade Division- A player must be in the 7th grade as of October 1, 2017 and cannot turn 15 prior 8 th Grade Division- A player must be in the 8th grade as of October 1, 2017 and cannot turn 16 prior 9 th Grade Division- A player must be in the 9th grade as of October 1, 2017 and cannot turn 17 prior 10 th Grade Division- A player must be in the 10th grade as of October 1, 2017 and cannot turn 18 prior 11 th Grade Division- A player must be in the 11th grade as of October 1, 2017 and cannot turn 19 prior to September 1, If a player has eligibility for the 2018/2019 school year, she can play GBA during the 2018 spring season. ***A player may play in (2) grade divisions during a tournament. A player may play up a division. ***A division having 3 or more teams will be scheduled in the tournament. *** Grade divisions 10th and 11th may be combined at some GBA tournaments.
