1 CARA Boy s Program GENERAL DEDUCTIONS Omitted skill o 0.5 General Element value deduction plus 1.0 Missing part deduction for a total of 1.5 o If a coach facilitates a skill while spotting it counts as an omission for a 1.5 deduction Added part o Repeated skill, or added element not consistent with the compulsory routine Fall o Including falls on the apparatus Coach s Spot o If a coach spots a gymnast without facilitating the skill EXCEPTIONS Level 5 SR Muscle up and HB Kip, Level 6 PB Moy/Bail (spot allowed) Large error o Major execution errors, severely bent knees/arms, body position, etc. o Failure to perform somersaults at center of mass Medium error o Medium execution errors, moderately bent knees/arms, body position, etc. o Large step or hop following a landing o Hands or knees touching but not weight bearing following a landing Small error o Minor execution errors, slightly bent knees/arms, flexed feet, etc. o Stops and pauses (each error) o Extra steps between connected skills or following a landing (deduction for each step) o Touching of hair or uniform Empty and Intermediate swings o Deduction for each extra swing taken Failure to achieve swing position or height to 0.5 o Deduction variable to the degree of error o All swing positions are defined as either Horizontal, 45, or Vertical o All horizontal bar swings are tap swings unless indicated (hollow, arch, hollow) o All turnover swings on still rings should have a tight arch in the back and hollow in front Failure to achieve nominal handstand when required o A nominal handstand is shown at plus or minus 15 from vertical Failure to hold as defined within a routine o Momentary holds are defined as holds which show a definite stop for up to one second
2 o Holds are two seconds, unless noted Landing Deductions to 0.3 o Deduction variable to the degree of error o Out of Balance, Steps/Hops, Direction, etc. Rhythm Deduction up to 0.3 o Taken from the entire routine depending on the number of stops/pauses, etc. Special notes o A part is defined as a numbered skill or sequence in the Routine and is deemed Missing if it has been omitted or is performed as to be unrecognizable. o Failure to perform an Arm Swing or Circle during Vault is a 1.0 deduction. o If the part is partially completed (more than 50%) it should receive credit and the appropriate deductions (small, medium, large or fall). o Added holds are to be deducted as rhythm errors and not as added parts LEVEL 4 FLOOR EXERCISE Note: All arm positions are optional, unless otherwise indicated. 1. Scale 2. Step, lunge and kick to handstand forward roll 3. Jump hurdle cartwheel, cartwheel 4. Tucked, piked or extended backward roll to hollowed prone support, 5. Press with straight arms to straddled stand. 6. Straddled press to headstand 7. Forward roll to tuck jump 8. Run, hurdle, round-off, rebound to stand Second Hold 2. Hold of handstand allowed, straight arms on roll from handstand 3. The hurdle should be a forward hurdle and lunge with a late shoulder turn and hand placement for the 1 st cartwheel. 4. Back extension roll action may be shown, no height requirement, no hold of front support is allowed 5. Hold allowed on straddled stand, continuous rhythm with no stops 6. 2 sec. hold of headstand required 7. Arms reach up on tuck jump, knees to chest 8. Body should be straight while rebounding with head forward in neutral position LEVEL 5 FLOOR EXERCISE Note: All arm positions are optional, unless otherwise indicated. 1. Forward roll, pike to handstand, 1/2 pirouette, back extension roll 6. Prone support, Straddled stand 7. Press Straddle Handstand turn, assemble with a ½ turn 9. Run, hurdle, round-off, back handspring, Salto backward tucked 1. Rebound allowed on 2 nd handspring 2. Continuous rhythm with 4 hand placements or less. 3. Sissone must be 45 or greater, must show continuous rhythm from handstand to sissone 4. Arms should lift up through vertical 5. No hold in handstands to show 6. Continuous rhythm must be shown 7. Straight arms, hold of 2 seconds required 8. Continuous rhythm must be shown 9. Center of mass head high on somersault.
4 LEVEL 7 FLOOR EXERCISE 1. Run, hurdle, round off, back handspring, layout back somersault 2. Back extension roll with early 1 2 reverse pirouette to handstand and lower to straight arm prone support position 3. Sissone 180 o turn 4. Front somersault (tucked, piked or layout) o turn, Swedish fall, straddle stand 6. Press handstand, assemble with a ½ turn 7. Run, hurdle, round off, back handspring, back handspring, back somersault (tucked, piked, or layout position allowed on somersault) 1. Center of mass on somersault at head height - Layout with Full Twist allowed. 2. Pirouette should be initiated prior to nominal handstand. 1-2 hand placements allowed on pirouette. 3. Must show continuous rhythm between both skills 4. Control landing of salto 5. Swedish fall with top leg at vertical, must show continuous rhythm 6. Two second hold of handstand required 7. Turnover past vertical on round-off back handspring. Must show vertical takeoff into salto with head neutral LEVEL 4 POMMEL HORSE/MUSHROOM Mushroom Base Score 5.0 Pommel Horse Base Score 5.0 Note: This event will be performed and evaluated on two separate apparatus. Mushroom 1. Step to side and jump to one double leg circle, 2. ¼ turn flank dismount The body should show a stretched position with legs together throughout the exercise. Pommel Horse 1. Jump to front support with legs together, hands on pommels 2. Three Full Pendulum Swings with the legs straddled 3. Leg cut forward. 4. Leg Cut Forward, Dismount to stand in front of the pommel horse 1. Straight arms and body, legs can be straddled 2. Weight and shoulders have to shift from side to side and top leg must reach horizontal or higher on 2nd and 3rd swing. 3. Straddle position must be maintained with top leg at or above horizontal 4. Leg cut forward, leg cut forward, dismount 1. Straight arms and body, legs can be straddled 2.
