4 General Information The Southeastern Submission Grappling Championships will be held on Oct 17, 2009 at Central Cabarrus High School. This is a Submission Only Event. Our tournament is one of the best in NC with competitors from all over the Southeast. There are multiple divisions with skill levels and weight brackets. We will use a card registration system so you can register up to the time your division begins. Registration begins at 8:00 am. Rules meeting will be at 10:00. The tournament will start at 10:30 am sharp with competition. competition will begin after the no-gi competition is completed. We will be running more rings this year and allowing competitors to register and weigh-in at the school Friday night before the tournament, 5:00pm- 10:00pm. Competitors under 18 years of age must have a waiver signed by a Parent/Legal Guardian or Coach. For more information, please contact Sensei Jason at or Sensei Mark at or website **All TEAM/Assoc. Winners will receive a Custom Championship Trophy.** **All 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd Place Winners will receive a Custom Medal.** **All Kids Division Competitors will receive a Particapant Medal (ALL KIDS ARE WINNERS IN OUR BOOK)** **All Winners will also receive a Custom CHAMPIONSHIP RING!! ** General Rules: **CHALLENGE YOURSELF, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU MIGHT ACHIEVE!!** No striking allowed Fighters will start standing No stopping or stalling (15 sec. of inactivity results in stand- up restart) No finger or toe locks No Heel Hooks, Toe Holds or Figure 4 Foot Locks in beginner divisions and all kids divisions. No Dangerous Neck Cranks (Will be explained during Rules Meeting) **Wrestling shoes, elbow and knee pads allowed - Mouth Guard and Protective Cup (for men) are recommended** Time Limits: Beginners 3 minutes Advanced 4 minutes Expert 5 minutes 6 minutes No-Point Format for Adult / Teen/ Kids, and Divisions: There will be no point system for adult, teen and kids divisions. If there is no win by submission during the regulation time period, competitors will re-start standing and grapple for superior position. There is a one minute time limit for the overtime period. You must maintain superior position (top side control, top mount, top rear mount with hooks) for 5 seconds. Submissions are still allowed in overtime. If there is still no winner, a one minute sudden death period (first takedown wins) will determine winner. Little Ninjas/Warriors, and Divisions There will be three skill levels. Weight divisions will be determined based on participation. Little Ninjas/Warriors beginners will grapple for position only using the basic Jiu-Jitsu point system. No submissions will be allowed. Advanced/ Expert Little Ninjas/Warriors will fight for submission (same as Adult/Teens/Kids). Juniors that want to fight for submission can fight in the Advanced and Expert Divisions. We want to see every child get a chance to compete - this is the next generation of grapplers! Explanation of Divisions All competitors should challenge themselves, no sandbagging will be tolerated. Beginners should have no more than 1 year of experience for no-gi and white belt only for gi. Advanced should have 1 to 3 years of experience for no-gi and blue to purple belt for gi. Experts should have 3 years and up experience for no-gi and brown to black belt for gi. (All grappling styles welcome (B.J.J., Japanese J.J., Judo, Wrestling, Sambo, Freestyle, etc...)
