As requested by our previous competitors and participants, we will once again hold our tournament at College of Southern Nevada (CSN) - Cheyenne Gymnasium (3200 East Cheyenne Ave., N. Las Vegas, NV November 14, 2015 (Saturday) 8:00AM = Check-in 10:00AM = Competition Start $ = 1 or 2 Divisions (Pre-registration Fee) $ Door Registration Fee $ 2.00 = Spectator Fee, 5yo below is Free Tournament Rules: KATA (Contestant must perform Japanese or Okinawan Kata) Beginners & Intermediate: Any Heian/Pinan Kata. Score System (5-judges, remove high & low scores). In case of ties, beginners may perform the same kata, intermediate must perform a different kata. Advance (Brown & Black Belt): Any Advance/Black Belt Kata. WKF Style (Flag System + Repechage for 5 or more competitor) Perform different Kata on Final Rounds. KUMITE SANBON SHOBU (3-points: Beginners/Intermediate Belts) GOHON SHOBU (5-points: Brown/Black Belts) No ringside coaching allowed. All bouts are 2-minutes, running time. All points are 1-point (ippon). Target Area = head/face, neck, chest/stomach and back. No face contact in Beginners & Intermediate division. Non-injurious, light, controlled "touch" contact to the face, head and neck in Advance (Brown/Black) division. Uncontrolled Technique & Excessive contact may result to disqualification. Required Kumite Gear: 1. Only WKF Fist Type of Gloves is allowed (Red, Blue, White). 2. Mouth Piece. 3. Groin Protector for Male competitor 4. Only safety glasses with restraining band or soft contact lenses are allowed. (OPTIONAL = Shin Guard, Head & Body/Chest Protector) Penalty Criteria & Categories: 1. JOGAI (Out-Of-Bound): 1st time = keikoku 2nd time = hansoku chui 3rd time = hansoku or loss of match. 2a. Category 1: Excessive Contact, deliberate attack to the groin, legs, arms, joints and instep, contact to the throat, open hand attack to the face, dangerous throwing techniques causing injury to the opponent, no 2-hand take-down. 2b. Category 2: Exaggerating or faking an injury, not attempting to engage in combat, mobobi, avoiding combat preventing the opponent an opportunity to score, clinching, wrestling, pushing, seizing or standing chest to chest without attempting a throw or other technique, uncontrolled techniques, attack with the head, knee, or elbow, talking to or goading the opponent, discourteous behavior and failing to follow the referee's order. Category 2 penalty call: 1st time = keikoku 2nd time = hansoku chui 3rd time = hansoku or loss of match. We are the an official branch of Shotokan Karate-do International Federation based in Tokyo-Japan, and an Affiliate School of USA-NKF (Official member of US Olympic Committee). Reigikai SKIF Las Vegas is a Family-Oriented group, functioning as a Not-For-Profit Karate program. Our purpose is to teach the positive elements of Karate, with emphasis on respect, honesty, integrity and discipline both inside and outside the dojo environment. We will be hosting a local karate tournament in Las Vegas on November 14, 2015 at the College of Southern Nevada (CSN E. Cheyenne, North Las Vegas, NV).
