1 HulaCross Official Rules v Set forth below, you will find the Official Rules for the 2013 HulaCross Season held at Kalaeloa Raceway Park, Oahu, Hawaii. General Disclaimer The rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable requirements for such events. These rules shall govern the condition of all events. By participating in these events, all participants are deemed to have complied with these rules. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATION OF OR COMPLIANCE WITH THESE RULES AND/OR REGULATIONS. They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to a participant. It is ultimately the obligation of each participant to insure that his or her conduct and equipment comply with the following rules and regulation. Any and all disputes regarding vehicle types, racing, or results needs to be brought to the attention of the track coordinator before the presentation of the awards. All decisions are final. These rules are subject to change at any time, including before, during, and after an event.. KRP reserves the right to amend these rules and regulations at any time with little or no notice. It is the responsibility of the participant to keep abreast of any changes and to react accordingly to these rules. Rule changes will be posted at the official website: krphawaii.com If there are any questions, please contact Michael Kitchens at (808) FORMATS: HULACROSS TIME ATTACK: The standard format for a HulaCross Time Attack event is as follows: Practice: The event begins with a sixty minute open lapping practice session. Continuous lapping sessions will occur until, on, or around 2PM. Time Attack: A 2 lap Time Attack will follow the practice session with the top six finishers from each class being awarded points towards the 2013 Season Championship. No cool down lap. Fastest lap will be recorded towards final results. Starts March Time Attack Events are considered bonus events and may or may not occur. 1

2 HULACROSS RACE: The standard format for a HulaCross event is as follows: Practice: The event begins with a sixty minute open lapping practice session. Time Attack: Time Attack is Optional. 2 lap time attack. No cool down lap. Winner receives a cash purse. Heat Races: A maximum of ten cars per 5 lap heat with the top finishing cars to determine the finalists for the Main Event. Amount of final participants is determined by participation. Main Event: A ten lap purse paying main event race with points paid to all participants for the 2013 Season Championship. Purse is split 1st=50%, 2nd=30%, 3rd=20%. SCORING: POINTS: Points will be allocated throughout the season as follows: Participation Points: Any competitor who completes, at the minimum, 1 lap of participation in any Time Attack or Race will be allocated 10 points for each event. Time Attack: First place 10 points, second place 6 points, third place 4 points, fourth place 3 points, fifth place 2 points and sixth place 1 point. Race: First place 50 points, second place 45 points, third place 40 points, fourth place 35 points, fifth place 30 points and sixth place 25 points. Points reduced by 5 for each remaining competitor s finishing position. Allocation: Points are allocated to the number of the vehicle. Drivers may be swapped out as long as they are properly registered before event start. CLASSIFICATION: CLASSES: All vehicles will be assigned a class. Vehicles will be identified by a unique number that must be placed on the driver's side door panel at a minimum size of 10x10 inches. Classes may be added as the officials see fit and if there is a need. Custom built vehicles will be categorized by the officials. Ingenuity & quality workmanship is to be encouraged. Classes will be defined as the following: Sedan: Any two or four door, including fastback, vehicle with a trunk or hatchback as its rear design feature. Truck: Any model truck with full a full bed as its rear design feature. Full size not allowed. SUV: Any sport utility vehicle, including crossovers, with two or 4WD capability. 2

3 SAFETY: GENERAL: Due to the fast paced nature of the event and resulting potential for dangerous accidents, the following general safety requirements are mandatory, and you will be tech inspected for: Batteries must be securely fastened/tied down. Both Drivers & Passenger must wear the following safety equipment: o Full Face Helmet o Long Sleeved Shirt o Pants o Closed Toe Shoes All vehicles must have equal protection for both driver & passenger (only applicable if a passenger is present). Vehicle must be in sound mechanical condition. Both Driver & Passengers must be registered with Tower Control and have the appropriate wristbands. Parents must sign a Minor Waiver in order for their children to participate in any part of the event whether driving or riding as a passenger. Waivers are available at Tower Control. Participants aged 10 and up, with signed Minor Waiver, may drive during practice & open lapping sessions but must be accompanied by an adult at all times. No driver or passenger may exit the vehicle on track unless: o Given permission from a Track Official. o Threat of serious bodily harm or injury is imminent. o Violation of this rule will result in a black flag, forfeiture of race points, and a suspension for the next race. Any 1st Lap Accidents will result in an automatic restart. 2nd lap & beyond will not. All vehicles are required to line up behind the coned Staging Line until called forward. All drivers & passengers must keep their arms within the vehicle at all times. If a vehicle becomes damaged or experiences mechanical trouble, drivers must attempt to bring the vehicle to an appropriate, safe location, away from race traffic (i.e., off track, or within a clear zone) All drivers must pay attention to the flags and follow directions issued by track officials. RECOMMENDED SAFETY EQUIPMENT: The following safety equipment is not mandatory but is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Remember, it is your life at stake... 3

4 Vehicle Fire Extinguisher w/bracket (MUST BE SECURED). One or Two piece Firesuit. Fireproof Balaclava. Racing Gloves. HANS Device. CATEGORY REQUIREMENTS: STOCK: Any unaltered vehicle (absolutely no modifications) has the following requirements: o Must have clear visibility through the stock windshield (no cracks, shatter damage, etc). A safety screen may be installed in place of a windshield. o Regular DOT seatbelts for both Driver & Passenger. o Windows must be set to a minimum 3/4 of the way up. If driver and/or passenger windows are broken or missing, you must have a window net installed in place. MODIFIED: Any altered vehicle has the following requirements: o At the minimum must have a 4 point harness. o Window Nets for both Driver & Passenger. o Power Cut Off Switch mounted behind driver's seat. o Minimum Single Hoop with two Kickers; Securely mounted (welded or bolted). o Two hood pins; Hood Latch must be disabled/removed. o All body panels must be present. o Interior & exterior must be free of all loose equipment & panels (i.e., nothing that can harm the driver or passenger). o All bumpers may extend no further than 2 inches from the furthest outer panel. o Nerf Bars are permissible but may not have sharp edges or be intended for vehicle damage. They must be rounded and contoured into the vehicle. CHAMPIONSHIP: SPECIFICS: All classes will compete for their respective end of year Class Championship in addition to the HulaCross Grand Championship title with the following guidelines Winner Class Championship: The winner of their respective Class Championship will be the competitor who has scored the highest number of points at the end of the season. Winner HulaCross Grand Championship: The winner of the HulaCross Grand Championship will be the competitor who has scored the highest number of points overall, irrespective of class, at the end of the season. 4

5 Class Championship Trophies: Class Champions will receive trophies for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place. HulaCross Grand Championship: The 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place winners of the Grand Championship will be specially rewarded at the last event of the season. Ties: Should more than one competitor have scored the same number of points, the tie will be settled on the basis of the greatest number of 1st, then 2nd, then 3rd (and so on) places obtained. ADDITIONAL EVENT RULES: The following additional rules apply: No driver may swap vehicles with another driver after registration has been completed. Once practice begins, all drivers are locked to their respective vehicles. Drivers may register a backup vehicle, but must do so before registration closes. This vehicle may only be driven by the registered driver to which it belongs. All vehicles must pack track. FLAG RULES: All drivers must pay attention to these flags and follow directions issued by the corner station workers. Disregarding the flags can and will result in one or all of the listed penalties. CORNER FLAG: The following flag will be used at corner stations located throughout the track. Red (solid red): Course is Closed. Due to an emergency, the track has been shut down. Bring your vehicle to an immediate stop and wait for further instructions. Once the red flag is dropped, you may proceed forward and continue to race unless otherwise instructed. Any vehicle that comes back on track after any red flag must go to the back of the pack. START/FINISH FLAGS: The above flag plus the following will be located at the Start/Finish: Green (solid green): Course is Open. A race or session is under way and the course is open or clear the instant the flag is displayed. Black (solid black): Penalty. A penalty has been imposed on the driver. Must come into the designated hot pits for further instructions. Car number normally displayed with this flag. White (solid white): One Lap Remaining. Designates one lap remaining before the finish. 5

6 Blue (Blue with Yellow Stripe): Passing flag. Driver must give way to lead vehicle. Checkered (black and white in checkered pattern): End of Race or Session. The race or session ends only after you cross the finish line. Cars must also slow down after crossing the finish line. PENALTIES: PENALTIES: Penalties are non negotiable and final. Violation of any these rules or any of the general park rules may result in the following, and is at the discretion of track officials: Black Flag. Disqualification. Forfeiture of all points. Suspension from the next race. SERIOUS VIOLATIONS: Serious violations such as fighting, abuse of track officials, intent to cause bodily harm on track, etc can and will result in more serious penalties such as: Season long suspension from Kalaeloa Raceway Park. Permanent suspension from Kalaeloa Raceway Park. HPD Reporting & Involvement 6

These rules are subject to change at any time, including before, during, and after an event. RULES: GENERAL RULES: The following rules apply to all MotoCross participants: All motorcycles and quads will be inspected by tech. Any reckless or out of control riding will disqualify you and you will be black flagged off of the track. No motorcycles or quads are to be ridden at anytime in the pit area, unless proceeding to the Staging Line. SAFETY REQUIREMENTS: Due to the fast paced nature of the event and resulting potential for dangerous accidents, the following general safety requirements are mandatory. All riders need to have full safety gear noted below: Long sleeve or jersey Long Pants (NO SHORTS) Boots or Steel Toe shoes Helmet (NEEDS TO BE FULL FACE) Goggles or safety glasses Gloves In addition to the above equipment, all minors with bikes 80cc and below need to wear a chest protector. CLASSES: CLASSES: All motorcycles and quads will be assigned a class. Vehicles will be identified by a unique number that must be placed in a high visibility area and be x inches. Classes will be defined as the following: 7

8 Dirt Bike Classes: o 450 4Stroke & 250 2Stroke o 250 4Stroke & 125 2Stroke o 100 4Stroke & 80 2Stroke Quads Classes: o 450 4Stroke & 250 2Stroke & 350 Banshee o 200cc FAT BOY o 200cc OPEN o Women's Open Class o Kids 100s & 80s o Open Kid's Class 10 years & up o 9 years & below OPEN Kid's (FREE) FLAG RULES: All riders must pay attention to these flags and follow directions issued by the corner station workers.
